Re: Ex President* Trump
No lawyer who is the least bit concerned with professional ethics is going to go anywhere around Trump, with possible exception of a criminal defence guy if/when Trump is finally indicted. But then, Trump wouldn't hire even a defence guy who was ethical, so the "no lawyer" part stands.
Consider - you aren't going to get paid much, if at all. You aren't going to gain any professional stature, in fact you're going to get ridiculed and trashed everywhere you go. You'll have fewer career options. Nobody will go to lunch with you. Your wife will probably leave you, and your kids will change their names. Why would anybody work for Trump?

Now THAT would "be one of the most important days in the history of our Country!" Dolt .45 announcing a run would just be another LOSER hoping to regain past glory.GoCubsGo wrote: ↑Mon Nov 14, 2022 3:33 pmBe a great day for an indictment.

Y'all don't really think Merrick is going to do anything meaningful do you?

Charges will make me happy, but not surprise me.
No charges will be disappointing, but not surprise me.
J6 could go either way, but it will be embarrassing for DoJ to have put all that effort into the Mar-a-Lardo docs without charging.
Then, there's the GA election interference, but maybe Fulton County will deal with that.
Is the Trump Org. fraud case federal or NY state?
Am I missing any potential federal criminal cases?

None, except for all the charges that should have been made over a years ago. Merrick simply slow walked them to death like the good republican he is.Vrede too wrote: ↑Mon Nov 14, 2022 7:08 pmbilly.pilgrim wrote: ↑Mon Nov 14, 2022 5:59 pmY'all don't really think Merrick is going to do anything meaningful do you?![]()

Trump is expected to announce his third run for president again tonight. How will this bode for the Republicans?

Re: Ex President* Trump
Well, he can "announce" whatever he wants, but it's a long two years before election, and right now his popularity id dropping even amongst the formerly faithful. I know he's a lot like a Freddie Krueger bad guy that doesn't stay dead, but it's looking more and more like people are willing to move on. Anybody think he can resist trashing DeSantis in his big "announcement"?

Where to drop this gem? It's a misworded headline but in no way funny or ironic, it's about a Florida man, but he's one of those like Trump, who have only just recently moved here.
It fits best here for several reasons, one being that it was trump who told scott that he would attack him if he didn't. After several reminding stories, trump explained how loyalty was a one-way street.
"The announcement by Scott, who was urged to challenge McConnell by Trump,"
And here 'tis
"AP NEWS
Florida’s Scott takes on McConnell in bid for Senate leader
By BRIAN SLODYSKO and MARY CLARE JALONICK"
It's almost as if Brian and Mary Clare think the minor party provides leadership. Of course both parties pick leaders and the sentence can be read that way, but as I implied earlier, "It's almost as if Brian and Mary Clare think their party provides leadership.

1997 is "recently moved here"?
Also, it's not just generic small 'l' leadership. Moscow Mitch's job is literally Senate Minority Leader. I don't see what's wrong with the headline.

Re: Ex President* Trump
Rupert Murdoch-owned and former Trump favourite tabloid "New York Post" ran the story about Trump's big "news" on Page 26 with the headline:
"Florida Man Makes Announcement"
""With just 720 days to go before the next election, a Florida retiree made the surprise announcement Tuesday night that he was running for president," the article read. "In a move no political pundit saw coming, avid golfer Donald J. Trump kicked things off at Mar-a-Lago, his resort and classified-documents library."
"He has stated that his qualifications for office include being a 'stable genius,'" it said. "Trump also served as the 45th president.""

As to the relevance of this thread - how many times did you hear Schumer called "Senate Leader", no matter who was in majority.

The headline, which was probably written by an editor rather than "Brian and Mary Clare", does reflect language in the article. However, there's not enough there to call them Republicans. The election is for caucus leader and Moscow Mitch has had the title of both Minority and Majority Leader due to factors out of his control. I don't mind when a headline accurately shortens details.billy.pilgrim wrote: ↑Wed Nov 16, 2022 11:52 amAs I said, "Of course both parties pick leaders and the sentence can be read that way".Vrede too wrote: ↑Wed Nov 16, 2022 10:03 amFurther discussion:
