[O Really]

8:00 PM EST Hawaii Bowl TV: ESPN
GO San Diego State 7-5 (-6.5) > Middle Tennessee

Ugh, beaten by a 37-yard field goal with 2:08 remaining, 25-27.
Sorry, O Really. Congrats billy.pilgrim. I was disappointed by the lack of trash talk and gloating.

It may not be too late. billy.p will likely remember my snark at "Middle of Nowhere" school or something like that before he properly educated me as to the historical significance of "Middle Tennessee."

We considered going to the Holiday (UNC/Oregon) game on Wednesday, but it doesn't start until 5:00 and now we've got rain predicted, too. Plus, decent seats are $150 and up. Pretty bad investment if you're a 'Heels fan.

Ironic that "educational" institutions consider "intent" as binding and "commitment" as not.

It may have been coincidental that billy.pilgrim added to that chat on 12/14:

He didn't throw in a 'San Diego State sucks!' or even a mention of the game.

Some might consider that treating an opponent as not worthy of comment is the ultimate diss.

Oooh burn! Is that also why you didn't mention the game? ;)

Naa, I follow the Aztecs because they get a lot of local coverage, but I've got more than my hands full defending my own alma maters.

And I don't follow MTSU at all since Dad died, but I'm still glad they won. ra ra Blue Raiders.

2:30 PM EST Mediocre Bowl Detroit, MI TV: ESPN
GO New Mexico State 6-6 > Bowling Green 6-6 (-3.5)

24-19
Okay, 7-6 ain't a big deal and they won't be winning any awards besides the Mediocre Bowl trophy, but going 5-1, 6-2 after a 4 loss start to the season to become Bowl eligible, including not allowing more than 14 points since Sept 24 until today and humiliating Liberty 49-14 on Nov 26, is a recovery to be proud of. :-||

An announcement isn't binding, either.

5-star DB Peyton Bowen signs with Oklahoma after announcing for Oregon and decommitting from Notre Dame

:puke-left: He chose the worst of the three. Is this about NIL $$$ ?

[O Really]

He had rides for ND and Oregon and he went to Okie-country? Must be NIL$$ - certainly isn't "education" - ND#18; Oregon#105; Oklahoma #147

Not counting the extremely rare math genius lineman I don't think any 5-star recruit cares about the education.

#105? Be better, Ducks, shoot for #99.

That "5-star recruit" could have a shredded ACL or something before he gets through his first year. But they don't think about that, either.

But he's from Denton, TX. Probably a better fit for Oklahoma.

Agreed. Does the scholarship end with a shredded ACL? If so, that will be the time for competent and ambitious former athletes to choose a better school. But, that's pessimism. They're thinking of a fruitful college career, the best set-up for a pro career and now NIL $$$ in the meantime. He's a good looking guy, bet he does well.

[O Really]

Yep, athletic scholarships can be lost.

What's his major? There's a lot more to #18 compared to #105, compared to #147 than some oversimplified overall ratings.

I have no idea how Auburn and ND compare these overall numbers, but I'm willing to bet Auburn would be the better school for a degree in the School of Fisheries, Aquaculture and Aquatic Sciences, or any one of a number of other programs.

#97 overall. But I agree with Vrede that a major outside of football isn't likely his priority.

It won't be Pre-Law, Nursing or any wildlife science. Communications and P.E. are popular choices.

Aside: Soccer players favor Drama. ;)

Buffalo 6-6 > Georgia Southern 6-6 (-3.5)

Upset! 23-21.

I just watched Memphis' John Hassel, a 6th year senior TE, drop what would have been his 1st career TD in the end zone. Ouch. Memphis did get a TD on the next play and went on to stomp UT St. Hassel did not have a reception in the game, Idk if he was targeted again . Maybe he laid on some good blocks.

Edit:

Ouch. Be kinda dumb to not root for the Ducks, wouldn't it?

2 other games I don't care about.

Because they're Ducks or because Oregon? If the latter, surprised me:
Eugene's annual precipitation 40.83 inches.
Chapel Hill annual precipitation 47.37 inches.

Anyhow, raining in SD? Any kind of  can happen. Vegas is sweating bullets.

Both, really. But the difference in Chapel Hill and Eugene is that Chapel Hill gets its precipitation in 114 days; Eugene rains 150. Chapel Hill buckets; Eugene lighter but constant rain from late October until March.

But yeah, we're getting some well-needed steady but gentle rain. Weather chicks are orgasmic.
