Does anyone know why only the hush money payment to Stormy is being discussed and not the one to Karen McDougal?
Trump didn't pay her off illegally.

In August 2018, Cohen pleaded guilty to breaking campaign finance laws, admitting paying hush money of $130,000 and $150,000 "at the direction of a candidate for federal office" to two women who alleged affairs with that candidate, "with the purpose of influencing the election". The figures match payments made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels and McDougal....
It's a little more complicated with paying off McDougal because it was funneled through the TRE45QN-friendly National Enquirer, which bought the rights to McDougal's story then spiked it.
In June 2021, the Federal Election Commission (FEC) found that the National Enquirer violated U.S. election laws and the $150,000 paid by AMI to McDougal amounted to an illegal campaign contribution. AMI agreed to a fine of $187,500. Because the FEC was equally divided on party lines, it could not pursue further investigation into Trump, who accordingly will not be punished or be the subject of further inquiry by the FEC.
If Cohen and the paper trail could convince a jury that the National Enquirer was reimbursed by Dolt .45 then the unreported McDougal hush money was just as illegal as the unreported Daniels hush money. Why is this not even being discussed?
Yet the real cases against Trump, the big cases against trump slide in oblivion.
Yeah, well don't forget that they got Al Capone on tax evasion, despite all his other not-as-provable offenses. I agree with you, but as far as I'm concerned anything they can and will convict him with is better than nothing.
I'm little miss negativity on trump going to prison.
bush and cheney walked on their war crimes. They ignored or changed existing laws to accommodate fracking toxic chemicals polluting our drinking water.
As with capone and tax evasion - the feds wanted capone.
Had they wanted trump, stealing and laundering the Inauguration monies would have been an easy slam dunk and there were many more.
Instead we waited 7 years to reluctantly look into prosecuting him for a more nebulous crime of Classified Documents.
With trump it's Where there's smoke there's a cover up supported by both sides.
Trump: “We had the safest border in the history of our country - or at least recorded history. I guess maybe a thousand years ago it was even better.”

I wouldn't like it, but I could see that happening with the whole thing. What I don't get is why the prosecutors may go after the Daniels $$$, but not the McDougal $$$.
I think I would buy the National Enquirer issue that has all the stories they've bought and not published over the years. I did almost buy that one that had the front page headline "Bat Child Escapes" along with a hideous photo.

Not that it's likely to amount to anything, but it's ridiculous that Putin's warrant came first before everything Trump has done. Sometimes a prosecutor has to grow some nuts and do his/her job.

FWIW, they don't have to deal with domestic political ramifications and the possibility of demonstrations.

Yeah, I know - and would/have set forth that argument myself, but I'm just tired of it. There's no more evidence to collect. There's no more witnesses to point their finger. There's no doubt in any rational mind that anybody else in the effin' country with Trump's record would have long ago been put away. It's time.

Agreed re the glacial pace of our own prosecutors, but:
... A potential trial of any Russians at the ICC is a long way off, especially as Moscow doesn’t recognize the court’s jurisdiction, and won’t extradite its nationals. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov reaffirmed that position earlier this week.
Ukraine is also not a member of the court, but it has granted the ICC jurisdiction over its territory and ICC prosecutor Karim Khan has visited four times since starting an investigation a year ago....
That means that Russia is just like the US. Shrub, Obama, TRE45QN and so far Biden have all rejected participation in the ICC. TRE45QN even imposed sanctions on ICC officials for investigating the Afghan War, since withdrawn by Blinken/Biden. I visited a Dutch political art installation - defensive sandbag bunkers on the beach - when Shrub threatened similar action.
To date, neither the ICC nor the US has charged Cheney/Shrub or any other American for war crimes. That's really really slow.
Do it right - body cams off, guns drawn, 5 am no-knock raid, tasers and teargas at the slightest provocation . . . well, maybe body cam video if it's especially humiliating for TRE45QN.
I'd love to see it, but nobody is going to perp-walk Trump. Like most all rich white guys, his lawyers will be served and they'll produce him "downtown" at an agreed time - probably at a time and place nobody will be around.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to find out he's already indicted and they're just working out the logistics for the surrender.
