So I'd never paid all that much attention to Opening Day before, but this year with high expectations from the boys in brown, there was a lot of hoopla. All the local news people had their Padres shirts on, and had live telecasts from an empty stadium hours before the game. Businesses had Opening Day tie-in promotions. Apparently there was a record amount of merch sold. Then it started to go downhill as the game was delayed for weather; lots of people on queue in the rain for hours, but enthusiasm stayed high. Lots of talk about "this is our year" for World Series.

Wrong side of 7-2. Opps. Meanwhile, at least for once in the season, the A's are 1.000.
