His (truly obnoxious) lawyer offered a somewhat rational defense saying it was just a private settlement agreement and not illegal. Good try, and it may have even been true if they hadn't tried to hide and launder the payment.
That and the unreported campaign spending that Garland should have prosecuted.

According to the very expensive Faux Noise ad 107% of American trust someone other than Faux Noise. Even if the math is corrected they're crowing about being trusted by a minority. Smart.
Ol' Rupert didn't want to testify in open court, nor did his on air "talent".
Take that, Faux Noise viewers, Cult .45 and other Big Lie swallowers, it was all $787M worth of baloney.
How disappointing. "We acknowledge the Court's rulings finding certain claims about Dominion to be false." That's it? Will they have to admit on air that they spoon fed their viewers outrageous lies? What's worse is that Carlson, Bartiromo, Ingraham, Hannity and Pirro won't have to testify under oath and admit that they are big fat liars.
A lot of people feel this way. My feeling is that anything can happen with a jury and this is a huge win. I'll take it.
“This settlement reflects FOX's continued commitment to the highest journalistic standards." What standards? The only standard they have demonstrated they support is the standard that anything reported must be sensational enough to boost revenue.
You'd think that being forced to pay three quarters of a billion dollars for something you said on the air would deal a fatal blow to the credibility of a news organization. Unfortunately, Fox viewers prove over and over that they don't won't to be told the truth, only that they are America's real victims. This is one of the reasons many experts conclude America is no longer a functioning democracy.
It's easier to con people than to prove to them they've been conned. Many righties know trump is a train wreck but it hurts to admit you were wrong so they double down instead.

They'll never miss a beat, both viewer or corporation will continue as before. If anything, this was a continuation and further proof that the election was stolen.
Trump: “We had the safest border in the history of our country - or at least recorded history. I guess maybe a thousand years ago it was even better.”

As mind blowing as the money is, not having to have their major "personalities" do a major on air mea culpa on air is a big win for them. There's no mention of the suit on their website this morning and dollars to donuts there's no mention on air.
The sickophants won't even know about it or dismiss it as fake news and be on their merry way.

Silver-ish lining, assuming the figures are accurate:
In 2018, Staple Street Capital bought a 76.2% stake in Dominion for $38.3 million dollars. At the time, Dominion was thought to be worth about $80 million.
In the runup to the 2020 election, estimates put the market cap of Dominion at about $226 million.
Meaning: this is a TON of money for Dominion and Staple Street Capital. As much as you and I would have loved for them to take this all the way, get a judgment for $1.6BN in compensatory and $14.4BN in punitive damages, and hopefully lay waste to Fox News, a) that path is lengthy, expensive, and uncertain to bear fruit, and b) this was about money for Dominion.
I, for one, still smiled a big smile yesterday. And Smartmatic, Newsmax, OANN, and others are still in the pipeline.
Agreed. As unsatisfying as the settlement is, the risk of a trial might not have made Dominion, “whole.” I think much has been revealed, and more lawsuits are coming down the pike. At this point, the only people who don’t know the truth, don’t WANT to know.
GoSmartmaticGo
Being there’s more lawsuits to come, including a 2.6 billion one up next, although the anchors will ignore the lawsuits and settlements, do we think the shareholders will?
Good point. Advertisers might be affected, too. Otoh, this confirms to them how gullible Faux Noise viewers are.
They should just be required to have a disclaimer similar to movies and books that states: "Fox News is an entertainment network and employs no journalist and does no fact checking. All broadcast are acts of fiction and bear no resemblance to reality. This is NOT based on an actual event. Our HOST are completely lacking in intelligence, honesty and integrity and openly admit they are lying and have no respect for you as a viewer. They are here for your entertainment only."
It's gonna be a while as they haven't started discovery yet, but the other good news is they are also suing Rudy, Jena Ellis and more.
Dominion may have already accomplished much of the discovery. That went so poorly for Faux Noise perhaps it won't want to suffer more of it and will just settle bigly.
The suits against individuals will be interesting. They don't have deep enough pockets to sweeten settlements, so maybe the plaintiffs will seek truth-telling and humiliation, instead. We'll see.

Yeah, it's all public record now so most likely it will be admitted without objection.
Doesn't mean they can't dig for more or subpoena already deposed witnesses for clarification or just because....
Plus the potential benefits of deposing Rudy and Jenna are priceless.
Eamus Catuli~AC 000000000101010202020303010304 020405....Ahhhh, forget it, it's gonna be a while.
Guesses what the final straw was, folks? First things I thought of was his 2020/21 hate for TRE45QN or his current pro-Putin shrieking.
After a huge settlement, I'm sure the company directive was to immediately cease any Big Lie talk and Tucker didn't do that. Fox proved they were not kidding around when they said that.
Ah, that makes sense, too.
Heartburn for Hannity?
Tucker really burnt his bridge at Fox because of Dominion, outright calling them liars in the discovery.
But he wasn't the only one.
This has to be part of the agreement with Dominion!
I never watched enough to have an opinion one way or the other. That is pretty classless of CNN to inform him through his agent. Will he get a farewell show? It doesn't sound like it.

There was alot of animosity behind the scenes and Lemon was a good part to blame.

Fired as much for general assholery (and maybe sliding ratings) than anything in particular?
Speaking from somebody who has never seen his show, but I read.

That was an out of control "interview". Not informative a bit and I lost track of the topic. Sheeesh, let the ammosexual possible racist speak and hang himself.
Re Tucker, pundit speculated:
Dominion revelations
Pending sexual harassment suit
Arrogance vis-à-vis the network and Murdochs
Some unnamed revelation coming out soon
