Hershel Walker Huh? What?

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Vampire or werewolf. A really tough and agonizing choice. In the end it didn't matter.

He made his concession speech last night (although he didn't call Warnock personally).

It was actually sane.
That speech was the best thing he could do to re-hab his image a little from total puppet imbecile. I hope he'll just go on back to Texas and to whatever he was doing before and never give any more political interviews.

 Good point, they are popular these days. It's a sign of Hershel's political naivete that he chose werewolves. Thanks to Twilight, Nina Dobrev, etc vampires have a much larger constituency. Werewolves haven't been big since Michael J. Fox and Jack Nicholson were in their prime.

I haven't watched any of it, but other non-Hershel fans are saying the same thing elsewhere. One said that it's years of habit to be classy from being an athlete and sometimes losing. -0-? , but it sounds plausible. I also wonder if after getting a taste of bitter politics and being so far out of his depth whether he even wanted to win by Tuesday.

You've been to the Georgia that's not Atlanta? Or maybe not.
Old story, same people. Someone more resembling Lester would have had a better shot.

"three Atlanta University Center ministerial students named George Willis Jr., Woodrow Lewis, and Albert L. Dunn met for lunch at the Pickrick restaurant. Before they could enter, owner Lester Maddox began yelling at them: “You no good dirty devils! You dirty Communists!” He then pulled out his pistol and pointed it at them, telling them “Get the hell out of here or I’ll kill you.”

Rather than help the three unarmed customers being held at gunpoint, the white patrons eating at the restaurant responded by grabbing “pickrick drumsticks”—pick handles Mr. Maddox kept hanging on his restaurant wall to intimidate Black community members. Mr. Maddox and the group of white customers then chased the three Black men out of the restaurant and into the parking lot, threatening them with violence."

After his acquittal for threatening these Black men, Mr. Maddox capitalized on his increased notoriety and broad white support for his segregationist positions by mounting a campaign for Governor of Georgia the following year. With the KKK’s endorsement, he won. During his term in office, Mr. Maddox promoted a racist, segregationist agenda, vigorously opposed integrating Georgia public schools, and refused to permit Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to lie in state after his April 1968 assassination."

Georgia is just Alabama with a city.

Hershel Walker Huh? What? will never, ever be relevant again . . . or he will be.

Florida Sen. Rick Scott says defeated Georgia Republican Senate candidate Herschel Walker will 'continue to be a leader' in the GOP 'for years to come'

:wtf:

WereHerschel would be the perfect posterboy for GQP intelligence, honesty, ethics and integrity.
Scott maybe right. Walker seems to be exactly the direction in which GOP is headed. People that can not lucidly discuss the topics which they were elected to solve fits perfectly in the GOP secret playbook.

I think Pastor Bryant found him.

"Mega Pastor Jamal Bryant Goes After Herschel Walker: Georgia, The Slave Negroes You’re Used To Don’t Live Here No Mo’"

'“They thought we were so slow, that we were so stupid, that we would elect the lowest caricature of a stereotypical broken Black man as opposed to somebody who is educated and erudite and focused,” Bryant continued. “Since Herschel Walker was 16 years old, white men been telling him what to do … and you think they not gon’ tell him how to vote? In 2022 we don’t need a Walker; we need a runner!”'

And this crooked clown almost made it to the Senate:

"Emails show Herschel Walker solicited hundreds of thousands of dollars for his own business from a billionaire donor, with the donor believing he was giving to Walker's campaign."

THANKS!!!
... In the best possible circumstances, legal experts told The Daily Beast, the emails suggest exponential violations of federal fundraising rules; in the worst case, they could be an indication of more serious crimes, such as wire fraud....

According to the legal experts who spoke to The Daily Beast for this article, this scheme appears to not just be illegal—it appears to be unparalleled in its audacity and scope. The transactions raise questions about a slew of possible violations. In fact, these experts all said, the scheme was so brazen that it appears to defy explanation, ranking it among the most egregious campaign finance violations in modern history....

Paul S. Ryan, a campaign finance specialist and deputy executive director at the Funders’ Committee for Civic Participation, said the situation suggests a “criminal violation” that is “extraordinary and unprecedented in my 25 years of campaign finance watchdog work.”

“There’s no legal way that this could have played out,” Ryan said.
:---P Lock him up!
Federal law prohibits candidates from converting campaign donations to personal use. The law also limits how much money individuals can contribute to a campaign, as well as how much candidates can solicit from donors. Candidates also cannot solicit, accept, or facilitate contributions in the name of another person.

According to legal experts, campaign finance violations become criminal if the violation was “knowing and willful”—essentially, if the person understands the laws.
Walker might have a strong case that he's too stupid and unbalanced to understand.
... The Washington emails explicitly raise the issue of wire fraud, legal experts told The Daily Beast, if Walker falsely represented his intentions for the money, saying they were for the campaign while in fact they were for his company. But if he did use the money to support his political activity, that would also trigger a separate slate of legal questions, because Walker never reported spending any of his own money on his campaign.

“It’s the frying pan or the fire,” Ghosh said....

“That sounds like a criminal violation of the ‘soft money’ ban,” Ryan said. “It is illegal for a candidate for federal office to solicit or direct money outside of federal contribution limits. Even if the money wasn’t spent in the election, Walker would have broken the law when he directed this donor to give money above contribution limits in connection with the election.”
Opps.

Billionaire Dennis Washington, now 88.
Born in Spokane, Dennis Washington grew up in Spokane, Bremerton, Washington, and Missoula, Montana....

Washington is married to Phyllis and lives in Missoula, Montana....

Washington also owns a private estate on Stuart Island, British Columbia, including a fishing lodge and golf course. The Washington–Grizzly Stadium for football at the University of Montana is named for him....
37 years and it still rankles to have a Montana stadium named Washington :x . Anyhow, great to see him involved in a criminal scandal where he (possibly) got duped. Opps. Is there a morals and/or stupidity clause attached to the stadium name? Back to the Daily Beast article:
... Washington played an instrumental role in securing Walker a coveted award while his campaign was in full swing.

On April 7, 2022, Herschel Walker’s Senate campaign announced that the former college football hero would receive the Horatio Alger Association’s prestigious annual award, “dedicated to leaders who through hard work, honesty, and determination have overcome great obstacles in their lives.”
Opps.
... Last month, however, it came full circle. The Walker campaign reported a $250,000 charitable donation to the Horatio Alger Association. But the organization did not list the campaign’s gift on its donor page this year. It did, however, list Walker and Blanchard as personal sponsors at the $250,000 tier. It’s unclear whether Walker was taking personal credit for his campaign’s gift, or if he’d contributed separately.
 Walker just took down the greedy Horatio Alger Association whose "awards" are for sale.
... “If Walker represented to a donor that a contribution was intended for his campaign, but it was actually for his personal benefit, it could form the basis for wire fraud,” former U.S. Attorney Joyce Vance said....
:happy-cheerleaderkid: What a good RepuQ he is! Can't even win by cheating.
