Trump on Trial

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

It would seem hard to believe that Lindsay wouldn't flip, given his various opposing public statements about Trump. He was pretty much like "Trump's a disaster, he's awful, and he should be defeated...hold my beer while I go kiss his ass."
At heart he's a crying coward and will probably do most anything to stay out of jail.

A look at the 19 people charged in the Georgia indictment connected to Trump election scheme

:---P x 19 x the number of charges each.

If I counted correctly only 3 of the 16 fake electors were indicted. We knew earlier that 8 were granted immunity. I wonder what's up with the other 5. Lock everybody up!

Meadows wants the case moved to federal courts thus creating the possibility of a GQP POTUS pardon. Asshole. Does this mean that a plea bargain is not an option? If so, good.

RICO victims of prosecutor RudyRudyRudy must be getting a chuckle out of this.

Trump has to be the most despicable person ever, with nothing too sleazy for him to do.

"Trump stiffed his alleged co-conspirators, whose false claims brought in $250 million"

He got all those people, including some lawyers, to go out and spread bullshit on his behalf, raising a buncha money. He refused to pay them their fees, and used all the money raised for himself. And now they're all indicted and will likely get disbarred. Yet somehow I don't feel sorry for any of them.

Yeah, zero sympathy deserved.

Not very smart of TRE45QN. There's no attorney privilege with criminal conspiracies. Stiffed mobsters are more likely to flip.

Oh please, oh please.

"statement from the Fulton County sheriff’s office addressed the key question of where the former president would be arrested and processed as a criminal defendant.

“At this point, based on guidance received from the district attorney’s office and presiding judge, it is expected that all 19 defendants named in the indictment will be booked at the Rice Street Jail,” the statement said."

Not only do we get a mugshot, they weigh him in as well.

That'll be another trump lie exposed.

I'm wondering what kind of bullshit he's gonna come out with Monday. The other day he said he'd be holding a press conference at his club in NJ to reveal proof the election was stolen. I can hardly wait.

Interesting that he's so clueless that he doesn't understand that even if he miraculously did find "indisputable" evidence that the election was "stolen", that he still wouldn't be off the hook for his (their) unlawful actions in attempting to overturn the results.

Their complete lack of even the slightest degree of irony has to be genetic. There's no way education or indoctrination could leave anyone so inwardly clueless.

Part of what's cracking me up are the wingnuts crying "let's settle this at the ballot box".

Uh yeah, we've already done that too.

From the "Winnipeg Sun" - yes, that Winnipeg, the largest city anywhere around North Dakota, the coldest major city in North America, and the home of our former member rstrong:
Send Trump to jail

Now hear this good and loud, all you MAGA-maniacs out there: Indictment No. 4 is official! Anyone, and I do mean anyone, who still thinks Donald Trump is in any way whatsoever, deserving of anything less than a good, stiff term in a real jail cell, can officially count themselves among the deluded, the demented, the soulless and the truly neanderthalic elements of society. You are all party to the assault on democracy and decency, and therefore an enemy of civilization itself.

Send Trump to Winnipeg.

Whiny TRE45QN lies, again, Liz nails him, again.
Liz Cheney makes 1st public comment since Trump's election interference indictments

... In a post on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, Cheney said it "might be a good time" to review the product of the panel's 18-month investigation, pushing back on Trump's recent claims that the House committee destroyed "all" its evidence and records.

"No surprise Trump doesn't want you to see the J6 Committee evidence," Cheney wrote as she provided a link to the government site that houses many of those records.

"Here's the GPO website with transcripts, documents, exhibits & our meticulously sourced 800+ page final report," Cheney wrote. "Also links to our hearings. Might be a good time to watch those again."
:---P
... In an interview with ABC News Chief Washington Correspondent Jonathan Karl last August, Cheney expressed disappointment in her Republican colleagues for their reaction to Jan. 6.

"I feel sad about where my party is," Cheney said. "I feel sad about the way that too many of my colleagues have responded to what I think is a great moral test and challenge of our time." ...

Same federal judge:
This Judge Just Dealt Another Blow to Donald Trump By Pegging His Latest Legal Bid as ‘Frivolous'

... Manhattan judge Lewis Kaplan recently denied Trump’s bid to pause the defamation case with E. Jean Carroll. Kaplan said on Aug 18, per the New York Post, that “Mr. Trump’s motion for a stay pending appeal is denied. This Court certifies that the appeal itself is frivolous.”

Along with that, Kaplan called out the Home Alone 2 star’s requests to delay the case, amid his fighting four indictments. “This case was largely stalled for years due in large part to Mr. Trump’s repeated efforts to delay, which are chronicled in the Court’s prior decisions,” Kaplan said. “Mr. Trump’s latest motion to stay — his fourth such request — is yet another such attempt to delay unduly the resolution of this matter.”
