Trump on Trial

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

How Trump's attacks on prosecutors build on history of using racist language and stereotypes

 :obscene-birdiered:
Prosecutors say witness in Trump's classified documents case retracted false testimony

... The statements from the witness, a Trump staffer identified in court papers as the director of information technology at Mar-a-Lago, was presented to prosecutors weeks before special counsel Jack Smith secured an updated indictment accusing Trump and two others in a plot to delete surveillance video at the Florida property.

Prosecutors said in a court filing Tuesday that the witness told a grand jury in Washington in March that he could not recall any conversations about the security footage

But in July, after being warned by prosecutors that he was a target of the investigation and after being advised that his lawyer might have a conflict of interest because of his representation of others in the probe, the witness received a new attorney from the federal defender's office and provided the Justice Department with information that helped form the basis of the revised indictment against Trump, his valet Walt Nauta and a third defendant, Carlos De Oliveira, the court filing says....

I think Trump's supposed to be booked tomorrow. Do you think he'll have to remove his whig?

Whatcha talkin bout Willis
Attorney: Lawyers begging for cash should have "expected" Trump to throw them under the bus

... Jenna Ellis, a former attorney for Trump, who is among the 18 co-defendants indicted with felony racketeering and numerous conspiracy counts, publicly questioned why the super PAC MAGA Inc. isn't covering the costs of her legal defense.

"I was reliably informed Trump isn't funding any of us who are indicted," Ellis wrote on X, formerly Twitter. "Would this change if he becomes the nominee? Why then, not now? I totally agree this has become a bigger principle than just one man. So why isn't MAGA, Inc. funding everyone's defense?"

... Ellis, who has been charged with violating Georgia's racketeering laws and solicitation of violation of oath by a public officer, is using a crowdfunding campaign to raise money to "help her fight back" against the charges brought by Willis.
... "Perhaps 'how will I pay for my defense' should have crossed the minds of Rudy Giuliani, Jenna Ellis and the others before they engaged themselves in the ways they did in service to their client," V. James DeSimone, a California civil rights attorney, told Salon. "There are always public defenders they can turn to if they cannot afford an attorney. Trump owes them nothing — and he's always known that."

... "Any new lawyer knows you should have a written agreement, a retainer, and regular billing in place before starting any work for a client with Trump's history of bankruptcies and debt-dodging," DeSimone said....

"This shouldn't surprise anyone," DeSimone said. "Trump has been getting away with not paying bills all his life. For me, the issues involving what Trump owed Giuliani, about $3 million, for employing him as his attorney are exactly what Giuliani should have expected to happen."

Michael Cohen, who was once Trump's attorney but has now emerged as a prominent critic of the former president, told CNN that Trump is an "idiot" for not paying his alleged co-conspirators' legal bills and was "absolutely" making a mistake by not paying Giuliani's fees.

"Allegedly, from Rudy's own mouth, he claims that he has smoking gun information about Donald," Cohen said.

He added: "At the end of the day, when your life is basically hanging on the line, once again, you just don't really want to throw another lawyer under the bus."

At this point I'm so sick and tired of this son of a bitch that if he cut a deal to never run for office, give up his social media and just shut the fuck up I'd be ok with that.

At least since the TV show. That's pretty close to the promo, although maybe a little meaner looking.

Not only do we get a mugshot, they weigh him in as well.

That'll be another trump lie exposed.
Dream on.
I'm guessing about 275 lbs.
Trump's booking height and weight sets social media ablaze: 'Wait, what?'

... Trump was booked shortly before 8 p.m. ET in Atlanta, Georgia on Thursday night on the indictment stemming from his alleged actions to contest the 2020 presidential election and he was listed as 6’3’’ 215 pounds with "blonde or strawberry" hair and blue eyes.

... ABC News reported that Trump’s height and weight were "pre-reported" to speed up the booking process.
:wtf:

Comments:
There is no way those stats are correct. Will he ever be treated like any other criminal ? I abhor the special treatment he gets, many people are treated far stricter for doing far less.

Appalling, two tier system. The motorcade was insulting to all tax payers.
Soon I'll be telling my doctors/nurses to also deduct 45 lbs from my last weigh-in because they must have a scale that is incorrectly calibrated. Otherwise, if Trump actually weighs 215 lbs rather than 260 then I'll eat my Lean Cuisine cardboard container!!
The sportsbooks had the over/under at 278.5 lbs. They are never off that much or they would be out of business, just like Trump's Casino failures. The general public tends to bet the over. Casinos know that so they inflate the number a few pounds, points, seconds, or whatever units the bets are measured by. Too bad we will never know now since he did what he always does. Lie. All bets are voided.
Very close, GoCubsGo.
Everybody relax. The reported weight is in kilograms. If you convert 215 kg to pounds, it becomes 474 lbs.
You nailed it. I thought the weight was taken on the moon, but you are probably right.

Is it odd for a 'billionaire' to use a bail bondsman? Yes.

Is he a house of cards on the brink of collapse and is that why he doesn't hesitate to incite violence as a desperate resort?

If he were a garden-variety billionaire, he'd write a check for $200,000, knowing he'd get it back when he shows up for court. But that garden variety billionaire doesn't have a PAC to pay the bondsman. PAC gives the bondsman $20,000 non-refundable, bondsman guarantees the rest and voila! Trump has no personal risk or exposure whether or not he shows up for court. Sleazebag.
