I didn't know that, or I'd forgotten. There are lots of non-insidious reasons to support ranked choice voting. I think that I would vote for it if given the option.

That's a stark Cult 45/non-Cult 45 divide.
As you say, one would guess that most of the Chesbro (D) voters named Murkowski (R) as their 2nd choice, which means that she will be one of the very few in Congress that's electorally incentivized to rep all constituents.

I thought, well that's nice. Then I wondered what she was trying to come back from? She's managed to keep people paying her for entertainment value, but politically, she's more of a never-was than a has-been. She was mayor of Wasilla for 6 years, population at the time about 7,500, and she did have a unsuccessful and aborted tenure as Governor of Alaska, a state with a population roughly the same as Nashville TN, and she did more than any other single person to tank a potentially successful McCain campaign. It just goes to show how totally shallow and incompetent a person can be and still win their "15 minutes" or more in politics and still have CNN commenting on them as if they weren't just a footnote blip with less importance than a third tier YouTube "influencer."
Could she really be gone this time or will she turn up again like dog doo on a shoe?

Well, her 2022 face really isn't much like her pre-2008 face. But factually, she was third place Miss Alaska which for all I know may be the same as Miss Salmon, but still. And she was on screen as a TV talking sports head. 16 years of bitterness and spreading divisiveness can certainly take its toll.

I've said it before, IMO there's no way that the modern GQP nominates a woman or a non-White. Nikki Haley checks both boxes. It also means no ma'am to Noem (and uh-uh to Tim Scott).
And so it begins, but I didn't expect such overt racism so early. Butthurt RWers like Coulter won't ever get over Nikki removing the slaver/traitor flag from the grounds of the South Carolina Statehouse in the wake of the Charleston church massacre. Before really starting Nikki is a LOSER no matter which side one is on. For example:
