In case there are some who doubted my memory of the actual 12th man pre sec advantage. As opposed to this new sanitized version of the aggies 12th man description found in articles today, the 12th man was literally a way to disadvantage the visiting team.

These articles point to, but don't fully express the level of whine coming from College Station.

https://www.uwire.com/2012/02/09/sec-mo ... -texas-am/

'“I don’t know whether there was a formal appeal or not. We’ve had discussions with the SEC that it’s very important to us that we maintain Texas A&M as the home of the Twelfth Man,” Cook said. “We’ve talked to the conference office about the uniqueness that we have and the fact that the entire East side of our stadium is all students and that’s something that’s special to us and unique in all of college football.”

Texas A&M Student Body President Jeff Pickering has been active in consolidating a uniform student stance on the issue.

“This came to our attention a little over a week and a half ago. … Our first reaction was, ‘This is not good.’ We were upset,” Pickering said. “I asked people to start thinking of scenarios for, ‘If we have to adapt, how can we adapt?'”

In a Student Senate bill passed Wednesday night, student government took a formal stance on the issue. The bill maintains that “any reduction of student section seating as a result of compliance with the Southeastern Conference’s seating regulations is detrimental to the ‘traditions and pageantry the 12th Man brings to Kyle Field.'”'

Will aggies vs bammer become a revenge match by the home team, each year trying to one up what was done previously?
Could be that they deserve each other.

Now will I ever find video of Brian Kilmeade lamenting on Thanksgiving, if only all the Indians were good Indians like the Hekawi and his, you know what they say, if you give a monkey a typewriter he'll type the Bible?

Re: are some College coaches okay with losing?

Are these insane salary buyouts to blame?

I don't remember what we paid chizik - maybe 25 million or so and all based on a one year performance with mostly another coaches recruits.
He is still coaching but has had a few vacation years. I do hope for UNC's sake that he's given up on the idea of making strength training voluntary. It was hard watching my team get thrown all over the field by bigger stronger guys on the other teams.
But this Blufield guy never tried to coach, never once went to a recruit's home, but after 18 months he retires with a single 17+ million dollar payday over and above what he had already received.

Then comes jimbo. Hard to see him not caring about losing, but if he's bad enough to get fired he walks with 78 million dollars.

None of this makes any sense.

So true, but this idea of paying people 17 to 78 million dollars for being so terribly bad that they have to be fired is weird.

That's embarrassing. I know little schools pay a lot to have the privilege of getting their asses beat, but c'mon.

A school that charges close to $60k to attend has to raise money with a yard sale?

Who is Paul Finebaum, and why do so many articles start with "Paul Finebaum says..."
I don't click on them for fear of getting even more, but each article shows this old bald curmudgeonly looking guy making some pronouncement.
"Paul Finebaum names the team he's most disappointed in this year"
"Paul Finebaum identifies one big-name program where Dion Sanders could go next"

Who is this dude and why would I care what he says?

He's huge. Tennessee grad had an bama radio show for years. Hated by all Auburn fans until his sec TV show on the then brand new sec network.
I think he's fair and his TV show is fun to watch. It's partly a call in show with some seriously insane regular callers. Give it a try if you get the sec network.
He also a pretty damn smart guy.
Oh, and it was his show where Updyke called in and confessed killing our trees.

Thanks. I don't get SEC Network, but maybe I'll click on some articles.
It't funny. I never heard of the guy until maybe a couple of months ago and then "Paul Finebaum says..." articles kept popping up everywhere. Canadian MSN, Google, Yahoo, Flipboard. I felt like I was being stalked. No idea what I did to point the algorithm gods to him, but whatever.

Hah 48-7, spread crushed. Take that, Vegas!

I thought that small schools suffer certain humiliation because they make money off of having major conference opponents. Am I wrong?

If so, and if ever interested, you can add sec for $10/month and cancel.

Yeah, you're right. They do sell the health and soul of their players for a few shekels. I still don't like it.

I also think it sucks, O Really, including because of the inflation of the big schools' records. Profs can get disciplined for doing that.

I'm not seeing your problem at all. I'm not sure that I see any small schools forced to play the big schools, unless it's the lesser football schools forced to play bigger teams within their own conference.

I don't think they're forced to, and I understand them wanting a payday and some broader exposure. A couple of days or so ago I was defending scheduling patsies for an opener. But there's patsies and then there's patsies. If you're going to schedule BCC, you might as well schedule a good high school team. My criticism is for Miami, not for BCC.

IMO if it's going to be called a "game" it ought to have some sliver of being competitive. Also, small schools may not be "forced to play the big schools," but the players for both team are forced to play and as O Really says it's at the cost of their "health and soul".

Best Moneyline Bet

South Carolina lost the only game it has played as the underdog this season. The Gamecocks have played as an underdog of +1800 or more once this season and won that game. The Bulldogs have a 99.0% chance to win this game based on the moneyline's implied probability.
