Boycotting the sec?
Nah, I made a failed SEC pick on Thursday and I'm making SEC picks today.
I kinda wanted 9 Missouri (-9.5) knocked out of the Top 10, but don't like @ArkanHuckabee. No matter, Missouri 48-14. Don't make a big deal out of 1 game shunned. There are lots that I skip for various reasons. For example, I thought hard about not making a Florida-Florida State pick and didn't bother with Indiana-Purdue and others today.

No FCS picks this week. The Playoffs bracket is set, so rankings no longer matter. Montana and Montana State both have byes this week and home games next week. I don't really care who they will get to stomp.

Fwiw, WDE just got gifted an offsides call on 4th & 2 at ALA 28 (13:14 - 4th) when it should have been procedure for 3 in motion at the same time. 1st down resulting in a 21 yd FG a few plays later. 24-20 Auburn with 9:20 left :o They're going wild at Jordan-Hare.

It’s official, I hate Hugh for the same reason that I hate Gus.

At the end of each half we idiotically rushed 3. Milrose had forever to find someone and score.
No pressure, no hurry and zero chance for a sack.

4th and goal from the 31 should have been game over. It was blitz time, or at least four rushers.

Downright embarrassing to have lost that.

I agree about that part of it. Sure can't blame Freeze for the muffed punt, though. AL never should have even had the ball.

Yeah, that was a stupid play by an excited kid.
And to be fair, I guess it was Hugh’s DC rushing too few on almost every play.

This game puts both into a 3-way tie for the Mountain West lead with Boise State. BSU got in by beating Air Force 27-19 on Friday, which kept AF out of the tie  Computer ratings will decide which 2 play for the MWC Championship:
https://sports.yahoo.com/mountain-west- ... 58685.html
I don't hate any of them.
EDIT: Computers pick UNLV, Boise St. for Mountain West title game
Go football!
6-1 Thursday and Friday, 15-10 on Saturday, 21-11 overall

LOSERS: 2 (to 3), 10, 16 (to 6), 19. Then, Washington and Alabama had close calls which may weigh against them on judgement calls.

I'll guess that Florida State moves back into Playoff position.
Idk where Ohio St will fall among the 1-loss teams, hopefully below Oregon.
At the moment Ohio St, OR, TX and AL are the pretenders to the throne.
Idk about the SEC Championship. The winner is in the Playoffs, hopefully not 2 teams if AL wins. I guess I have to root for GA to be safe :puke-left: :puke-left: :puke-left:
Ohio State is shut out of the Big Ten Championship. Go Iowa > Michigan!
The winner of the Pac-12 Championship is likely in the Playoffs. I guess I'll root for WA to be safe. I like the Huskies a bit more, anyhow.
Go Louisville > FSU, but Idk how likely that is.
Go TX > OK St, at the risk that a 1-loss Pac-12 team gets bumped.
Will be undefeated GA, Michigan, WA and FSU if they win out. Could get very interesting if any of them end up with 1 loss.

We rushed two?????
Yeah :headscratch: I thought it was going to be 3, but one hung back as a spy. That left the 2 rushers both doubled up and useless :(

I gotta admit that it still took an amazing and very unlikely throw and catch. I was SOOO sure it was over after that muffed snap :angry-banghead:

Not so amazing that every college doesn’t practice offense and defense on this exact play. QB passes above the defender at the back of the end zone.

It is amazing in that it has about a 10 to 20% chance of working.
I’ll remain amazed that we only rushed 2 and that we didn’t tackle the receiver before he could catch the ball.
And 3, that today, freeze is claiming it was the right defense.

Yeah, and Pete Carroll is still defending calling an interception instead of rushing Beast Mode, too. Doesn't make it a good call.

Mostly irrelevant ranking:
Ohio State falls to No. 6 in AP Top 25; Michigan up to No. 2

No. 3 Washington, No. 4 Florida State and No. 5 Oregon all moved up a spot in The Associated Press college football poll Sunday, giving the Pac-12 two top-five teams for the first time since the final ranking of the 2016 season.
Georgia remained No. 1 as the two-time defending national champions have been for 24 straight polls, dating back to the middle of last season. The Bulldogs received 52 of 62 first-place votes.

Michigan returned to No. 2 following a week at No. 3 and received 10 first-place votes after beating Ohio State 30-24 in Ann Arbor on Saturday.
:puke-left: :puke-left:
The Buckeyes slipped from second to No. 6, clearing the way for Washington to reach its best ranking since finishing the 2000 season at No. 3 and setting up a top-five matchup with Oregon in the Pac-12 championship game Friday in Las Vegas.

The final Pac-12 championship game in the conference's current form before 10 members leave for other Power 5 conferences will be its first matching top-five teams.

The last time there were two Pac-12 teams in the top five of the AP poll was 2016, when USC finished No. 3 and Washington No. 4. The last time it happened during the season was Oct. 6, 2013, when Oregon was No. 2 and Stanford was fifth.
 I guess the only hope for 2 Pac-12 teams in the Playoffs is if OR > WA, but that risks neither getting there
... The same eight teams have been the top eight in the country for five straight weeks, with the only loss among those teams during that span being Ohio State's to Michigan.

The last time there was no team turnover in the top eight for that long was during Weeks 11-15 in 2008....
Among the top eight teams, there are only four losses, one each for Oregon, Ohio State, Texas and Alabama. Of those four losses, three have come to other teams in the top eight: Oregon lost to Washington, Ohio State lost to Michigan, and Alabama lost to Texas.

Texas' loss came to No. 12 Oklahoma. Extend it out to the top 12 to include No. 11 Ole Miss and the only loss to a currently unranked team among that group is Oklahoma's to Kansas.
MOVING IN; MOVING OUT

NC State and SMU made their Top 25 debuts this week, raising to 44 the total number of teams to be ranked for at least a week this season.

Falling out for the first time was Tennessee, which finished its regular season 8-4 with a victory over Vanderbilt after barely hanging on at No. 25 last week.

Kansas State also dropped out again after losing a high-scoring game in the snow to Iowa State.
As predicted.
CONFERENCE CALL

Five teams from non-Power 5 conferences in the AP Top 25 is the most since the final 2021 poll.

SEC: 5 (Nos. 1, 8, 9, 11, 13)
Pac-12: 4 (Nos. 3, 5, 14, 21-tie)
Big Ten: 4 (Nos. 2, 6, 10, 18)
ACC: 3 (Nos. 4, 15, 21-tie)
Big 12: 3 (Nos. 7, 12, 19)
American: 2 (Nos. 17, 25)
Conference USA: 1 (No. 20)
Sun Belt: 1 (No. 24)
Mid-American: 1 (No. 23)
Independent: 1 (No. 16)

RANKED vs. RANKED

No. 8 Alabama vs. No. 1 Georgia: SEC championship in Atlanta
Unfair locale  I guess Go Georgia > Alabama to prevent the possibility of both in the Playoffs.

No. 18 Iowa vs. No. 2 Michigan: Big Ten championship in Indianapolis
GO Iowa > Cheatin' Michigan

No. 5 Oregon vs. No. 3 Washington: Pac-12 championship in Las Vegas
 Idk, Go football!

No. 15 Louisville vs. No. 4 Florida State: ACC championship in Charlotte, North Carolina
GO Louisville > Florida State!!!

No. 19 Oklahoma State vs. No. 7 Texas: Big 12 championship in Arlington, Texas
Unfair locale, nttawwt ;) Go Texas > Oklahoma State

No. 25 SMU at No. 17 Tulane: AAC championship in New Orleans
Go New Orleans debauchery > TX godliness
AP Top 25

 Among the new Top 20 only Ohio State (down4) and Louisville (down6) had major moves.

Oregon State down6 to a 21-tie after losing to @6 Oregon may seem harsh, but they're the only 4-loss team in the Top 25.

UNC pushed NC St to be the only ranked NC team, 21-tie. Better than none.

23 Toledo? Where did they come from?

Others receiving votes: (36) North Carolina 1 vote
That's just sad, but could be a little worse:
Zero votes: Appalachian St, Auburn, Duke, Maryland, Miami, Northwestern, SDSU

2023 Division I FCS Football
Official Bracket

Saturday

Delaware @2-seed Montana at 7:00 PM MST, brrr. Hah! If the Griz win they get another likely even colder home game

Perennial champion North Dakota St @6-seed Montana St. The Bobcats will need Sacramento St > @3-seed South Dakota in order to get a subsequent home game.

I want the unseeded teams to win the other 5 games in order to clear the best path for @Montana > Montana St in the Semi and Montana to win the Championship.

Okay, guess I have to hate Clemson a little less now:
Trump met by persistent booing at South Carolina college football game

... When the former president's car pulled up to Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia, South Carolina, the crowd was initially receptive. Chants of "we want Trump!" were audible, according to The Hill. However those cheers were quickly drowned out by a stream of disapproving shouts. One video shows Mr Trump seated inside his car looking out at the field as audience members shout at his vehicle.

The former president was visiting officially as a guest of Governor Henry McMaster. Senator Lindsey Graham — himself no stranger to negative crowd reactions — joined Mr Trump and Mr McMaster.

Mr Trump walked onto the field during halftime to make an appearance, during which he was met with loud booing, especially from Clemson's marching band. One band member was seen giving the former president a thumbs-down gesture while booing,

Just what you need, the play has a name. Scroll to the end of the article, "Gravedigger".

Could be it won't catch on, but Bama fans may be razzing y'all with this one word shorthand for years.
