In an effort to demonstrate that liberal forums differ from conservative forums, I'd like to offer a thread where liberals will post things they acknowledge are stupid causes that other liberals tend to support. I'll start.

The anti-immunization movement that is supported largely by liberal home schoolers. Not only is it completely based in pseudo-science but it's dangerous to public health. The risks of not immunizing far outweigh the risks of immunizations.

To tell the truth, I never heard of NAMBLA until the dittoheads started blathering about it, and have heard no one support it, other than the pervs who inhabit it. But then, I don't exactly spend a lot of time searching for info on such shit as that.

It's the right that does PR for NAMBLA and my experience has been that animal rights extremists, as opposed to conservationists, are outside of partisan politics.

Speaking of Obamacare, it turns out that Obama was right about it "not adding one dime to the deficit".

It added 62 Trillion dimes to the deficit.

NAMBLA was made a household word by Rush Limbaugh with his first book, in much the same way that Saul Alinsky is now a household name after being popularized by Glenn Beck.

Plus, as the caveat-loaded actual report makes clear, costs are rising regardless, more people are being covered under the ACA, and we will obviously have to take steps, especially over 75 years!, to rein in costs - something we all know given that the ACA ended up being mostly about coverage and payment rather than the major cost containment that was once ambitiously envisioned.

Another perspective, one I found by following the links in Wneglia's link:

They looked at what would happen to the deficit if (1) we left in all the spending, (2) all of the cost control measures utterly failed, and (3) we removed all of the revenue streams/taxes. But some of those things take an actual act of Congress. Many of the taxes and cost control measures will only go away if people like Sen. Sessions actually vote to strip them from the ACA. So I think it’s somewhat odd to say that the bill was passed with “dramatic falsehoods”. We won’t see these worrisome results because of the law. We’ll see them if Congress changes it.

Now if Sen. Sessions were to say that the GAO report shows we’re screwed if the government does everything in its power to avoid controlling costs, that’s something I’d agree with.

That's what happens when one swallows the words of the rightwing, corporate shill, American Enterprise Institute without checking the source material being discussed or looking for critiques.

There was a time not long ago when doctors travelled by horse to make house calls in the dead of might, accepting eggs and chickens as payment. So it's always somewhat amusing to watch today's physicians whine about higher taxes which were create largely by their inflated salaries.
