... You can think Rice deserves forgiveness. You can believe enough time has passed. You can make any rational defense of Rice you'd like. I'm not here to tell you what to do.

But the Ravens aren't doing any of that. They are taking the truly despicable step of honoring Rice as a Ravens hero....
Yup. Whose brilliant idea was this? :obscene-birdiered: It's an early afternoon game, not being shown here. Decent people should stand and turn their backs to the ceremony.

Lewis was certainly guilty of obstruction. However, the Lewis associate alleged killers were acquitted, and it was never shown that Lewis was a participant in the killings or even the fight.
https://web.archive.org/web/20130126170 ... /25/part1/

This is how it often goes with the rich, but it's also how it often goes with bar fights at any socioeconomic level. I decided that Lewis was unsavory long ago, but never concluded just how unsavory. IMO there was never enough to end his career. Otoh, there was never any doubt about Ray Rice.

Aside: Any idea what's up with putting eyeblack down just one cheek?

Wow, sloppy anemic Lions get the ball with 1:41 left, drive the field for a TD, fail to make the 2pt try, fall 19-20 :(
0-1

GO:

1:00 PM

CBS here
Panthers > @Jaguars (-4.0) :sleepy:
All that's left for the 2-13 Panthers is being a spoiler.

@Bills (-14.0 :D ) > Patriots

@Bears (-3.0!) > Falcons. Another spoiler, go Saints.

LV Traitors > @Colts (-4.0). Yet another spoiler.

@Giants > Rams (-6.0). Yep, spoiler, go Seahawks!

@Eagles (-12.0) > Cardinals

Saints > @Buccaneers (-2.5). Huge NFC South game.

@Ravens (-3.0) > Dolphins. Sorry, O Really.
Will there be a Ray Rice jinx courtesy of the front office?

Titans > @Texans (-4.0). Why not another spoiler?

4:05 PM FOX here
@Seahawks (8-7, -4.0) > Steelers (8-7), but I don't hate the Steelers.
Could mean the postseason for either team.

4:25 PM CBS here
Bengals > @Chiefs (-6.5)
Could even be a spoiler this year, though more likely for the AFC West than the Playoffs entirely. Go LV Traitors!

GO football:

8:20 PM NBC
Packers (7-8) vs @Vikings (7-8, -1.0). Spoiler for one or the other.

No MNF. The ESPN space is reserved for 3 Texas vs 2 Washington.

I THINK the Lions got screwed.

Lions 'confused' as refs negate late 2-point try in Cowboys win

It's funny that there are commercials based on football where people in fictional real life scenarios throw a red flag to review what was said by who. That is exactly the situation here. Video seems to support the Lions, but there isn't audio to confirm it.

Anyhow, the Lions never would have been in that position if they hadn't allowed:
Lamb breaks Irvin's Cowboys single-season marks for most yards, catches

... Lamb finished with 13 receptions for 227 yards and a touchdown vs. the Lions
Fuckin' Cowboy, but :-|| x 227.
to give him 122 catches for 1,651 yards and 11 touchdowns on the season. Irvin had 111 catches for 1,603 yards in 1995, the last time the Cowboys won a Super Bowl....
:-|| x 122, 1,651 and 11.

Sounds like the Lions got screwed with their pants on, the coach warned the officials before the game he was going to send two guys out (to try and confuse the D, the Lions O linemen said they did it right), sounds like the only confused one was the Zebra who claimed the other guy reported.

Still should've kicked and gone for OT after the penalty.

I agree with that, but Detroit then got those yards back with a Cowboy penalty. They then called the right play, it was just a poor pass when it should have been easy.

If the correct guy reported on the first try, which sure seems likely, that was a beautiful play, pass and WIN DAMNIT!

GO:

1:00 PM

CBS here
Panthers > @Jaguars (-4.0) :sleepy:
All that's left for the 2-13 Panthers is being a spoiler.
:lol: Those are my homeboys, 0-26.

@Bills (-14.0 :D ) > Patriots. :thumbup: but surprisingly close, 27-21.

@Bears (-3.0!) > Falcons. Another spoiler, go Saints.
Who the fuck are these Bears?! 37-17, CONGRATS. Technically NOT eliminated yet :wtf:

LV Traitors > @Colts (-4.0). Yet another spoiler. Awww, 20-23.
LV Traitors are officially eliminated :(

@Giants > Rams (-6.0). Yep, spoiler, go Seahawks! Darn, 25-26.
Giants failed on a late 2point try to win, shades of the Lions game. Seahawks need to win out to be safe.

Rams lock up WC slot.

@Eagles (-12.0) > Cardinals
:wtf: Pretty birds TD with 0:32 left ftw, 31-35.

Saints > @Buccaneers (-2.5). Huge NFC South game. 23-13 :clap:
Buccs still hold the tiebreaker, so Saints will need to win again and get help.

@Ravens (-3.0) > Dolphins. Sorry, O Really.
Will there be a Ray Rice jinx courtesy of the front office? 56-19!!! Ravens should honor Rice every game, maybe a shoulder patch? :o ;) Ravens Clinched Division and Bye. All the way!!!
Dolphins get a Playoff slot, regardless. Congrats, O Really.
Lamar Jackson:
18/21 321 YDS 15.3 AVG, 5 TD 0 INT, SACKS 1-9 RTG 158.3
6 CAR 35 YDS 5.8 AVG, LONG 18
MVP MVP MVP!!!

Titans > @Texans (-4.0). Why not another spoiler? 3-26, opps.

Also:
49ers 27, Commanders 10. 49ers Clinched Division and Bye :thumbup:

4-5 in the early games :|

4:05 PM FOX here
@Seahawks (8-7, -4.0) > Steelers (8-7), but I don't hate the Steelers.
Could mean the postseason for either team. 23-30 :thumbdown: Not good, but the Seahawks aren't eliminated yet. They're tied with the Saints and the winner of the Packers-Vikings game for the WC #3 slot. Steelers are also tied for the WC #3 slot, but they're 3rd in line after tiebreakers :(

4:25 PM CBS here
Bengals > @KC (-6.5)
Could even be a spoiler this year, though more likely for the AFC West than the Playoffs entirely. Go LV Traitors or Broncos! :ateeth: 17-25, KC wins the AFC West, again :roll: Bengals are eliminated :thumbup:

@Broncos (-3.5) > LA Traitors
16-9 :thumbup: , but Broncos are eliminated, anyhow :(

GO football:

8:20 PM NBC
Packers (7-8) vs @Vikings (7-8, -1.0). Spoiler for one or the other.
33-10, 8-8 Packers hold the tiebreaker over the Seahawks and Saints for WC #3. Next week will matter to a bunch of teams. ESPN isn't even showing the 7-9 Vikings as being eliminated yet.
https://www.espn.com/nfl/standings/_/view/playoff
That would be wild if it somehow leapfrogged in.

No MNF. The ESPN space is reserved for 3 Texas vs 2 Washington.
5-7 today, 5-8 for the week :thumbdown: :thumbdown:

I'm officially in the almost completely turned around column on Fields and Eberflus (NEVER thought I would say that back when I was saying fire everyone 🙄). The turn around happened in mid season when Eberflus started to call the Bears defense, they acquired Montez Sweat (great pickup) and they became a cohesive unit combined with their offensive line finally being healthy.

A win over Green Bay seals the deal for me, they are much improved and could actually have a winning record. Luke Getsy can still go though.

#1 draft pick from Carolina secured, trade down only if you can still get Marvin Harrison Jr. Other needs are a stud left tackle, center and another edge rusher.

Bears celebrate win, top pick in 2024 NFL draft with Panthers loss

You're welcome. Some have the philosophy that you take the best player out there, period, others that you fill your team's needs. These guys predict that the Bears will take USC QB Caleb Williams. Harrison is predicted to go #2, #3 or #4 to AZ. What do you think the Bears should do?

O Really, North Carolina QB Drake Maye is predicted to go #2 :clap: to the Pats :puke-left: or #3 to your favorite, DC :P

Non-Kaaron Packers are tied with the Seahawks and Saints for the #3 WC slot. I like all 3, with a preference for the Seahawks. Seahawks play floundering AZ while the Saints play the mediocre Falcons. Partly on your behalf I will root for the Bears. You're welcome ;)

Bit of a goofy season.

Rising Cardinals lost to the rising Bears and beat the floundering Iggles. -0-? That may be a tossup.

Don't you mean mediocre Saints and mediocre Falcons?

Either way let's hope Da Bears beat the Pack. May happen.

:thumbup:

"Rising Cardinals"? They've lost 2 of the last 3 and 4 of the last 6.

At the moment:
Saints (-3.5)
Packers (-3.0)
Seahawks (-3.0)
https://www.espn.com/nfl/scoreboard/_/w ... asontype/2

:D True, but I took it as a given that the 8-8 teams vying for WC #3 are mediocre. The Falcons have not been eliminated yet and it's an early Sunday game, so they may play tough.

Which part is not a scenario you're seeing?

I saw the earlier post but don't want to make assumptions. Are you saying that you agree with taking USC QB Caleb Williams? If so, what trade do you hope for - Williams for Harrison+, something else?

Again, not trying to argue. It's just that you're following this closer than me and it's a big deal with that first pick.

No, I'm 90% on board with Fields, he's actually shown a lot and I think the Bears are actually moving in the right direction (they're 5-2 in their last seven games) and the playoffs are achievable next year. I am hoping the Bears can trade out of the #1 pick and still get Harrison. That leaves slim pickings of two or three teams that might want to make that deal. For example if the Bears moved to the third spot (New England, Washington?) and also got their second and third round pick, cool.

The Bears also have their own first round pick in addition to Carolina's, could be a good draft.

A couple of these drops would've secured victories and we'd be in the playoffs.
