Baker Mayfield tells Lions' Chauncey Gardner-Johnson he needs to watch more tape

Lions defensive back Chauncey Gardner-Johnson made comments this week that some took as a shot at Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield, and today Mayfield fired back.

Gardner-Johnson complimented the Buccaneers' wide receivers but implied they don't have a good quarterback throwing them the ball.

“This group probably is one of the better groups we done faced all year,” Gardner-Johnson said. “If you give that Tampa group a good quarterback, that’s a great group. Evans, Godwin, Gage, that’s a great group. I played against them for real.”

Ouch!

Two things stood out about Gardner-Johnson's comment. The first is the seeming implication that the Bucs' receivers have not been given a good quarterback. The second is that in addition to mentioning a good pair of starting receivers in Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, Gardner-Johnson mentioned Russell Gage, who suffered a season-ending knee injury in training camp.

That provided an opening for Mayfield to respond.

“I don’t think he’s really watched film because he mentioned Russell Gage,” Mayfield said of Gardner-Johnson. “We love Russell but Russell hasn’t played a snap all year for us. He must be going off preseason stuff that the media was talking about."

"He didn’t play our first game so I’m excited to see him. I think he’s a really good player. He has been for a while. He’s been an impactful guy on every team he’s been on. So he's a good player, but yeah, he’s got to do a little bit more film study.”

Pete Carroll out as Seahawks coach, will serve as team adviser

What does "adviser" mean and wouldn't any HC find that annoying and disrespectful?

... The role change comes after Carroll said in his postgame news conference Sunday, and reiterated Monday in a radio interview, that he intended to return as coach for the 2024 season.

Ouch.

At 72, Carroll had been the NFL's oldest head coach for several years but had given zero indications that he was getting close to retirement.

Time to play with the grandkids, or even great grandkids. Could be a good thing.

The five-year extension he signed in 2020 put him under contract with the Seahawks through the 2025 season.

Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader Says Packers Players Yelled In Her Face During Game
“I have never experienced such disrespect from the other teams’ players to the cheerleaders in my five years as an NFL cheerleader," she said.

... She gave an example of when the Packers scored a touchdown, the players would come up to her and her teammates, who she said were standing on the sidelines “minding our own business,” and start yelling at them and getting close to their faces.

Several of Lassiter’s teammates echoed her complaint in the comments of the video, writing, “They were extremely disrespectful to us and I was shocked” and “Yet we have to stand there and accept the disrespect.” One teammate wrote that she “literally was on the verge of tears.”

Lassiter said she feels like the yelling would fall under unsportsmanlike conduct, which players can be fined thousands of dollars for.

“It’s so crazy how they can’t do that to the Cowboys players or any other players, but they can do it to the cheerleaders and nothing’s going to happen,” she said. “I understand the playoffs is a huge deal. I truly get it, but that does not mean your humbleness and respect for women flies out the window.” ...

Rude, even if they are Cowboys cheerleaders. Go Niners, we are unanimous.
