Blasphemy! Abomination!
VanDerveer earns 1,202nd win to tie Coach K's all-time NCAA record

Stanford women's coach Tara VanDerveer got her 1,202nd victory Friday, tying her with former Duke men's coach Mike Krzyzewski for the most college coaching wins in NCAA history....

VanDerveer has a chance to become the all-time leader on Sunday, when Stanford, 16-2, is host to Oregon State at 5 p.m. ET.
Seriously, good on VanDerveer and CONGRATS! whenever she seizes the record.
VanDerveer, 70, is in her 38th season at Stanford, which has won three NCAA titles and 26 conference regular-season titles during her tenure. VanDerveer has been at the heart of it all except in 1995-1996 (one of Stanford's 15 Final Four seasons), when she stepped away from the Cardinal for a season to coach the U.S. national team leading into the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.

That success of that U.S. team helped pave the way for the launch of the WNBA in 1997 and started a run of seven consecutive Olympic gold medals for the American women.

VanDerveer won her first college game on Dec. 1, 1978, as coach at Idaho. Her 100th win came in 1983 at Ohio State. She took over at Stanford in 1985. VanDerveer hit 1,000 victories in February 2017. She passed the late Tennessee coach Pat Summitt for the women's basketball record with her 1,099th win in December 2020.

Krzyzewski was 73-59 as coach at Army from 1975-1980, then took over at Duke. He was 1,129-309 with the Blue Devils, winning five national championships before retiring in 2022.

VanDerveer won her national championships in 1990, 1992 and 2021. She's had 30 players drafted into the WNBA, including No. 1 picks Nneka and Chiney Ogwumike in 2012 and 2014.

VanDerveer is one of four coaches to win the NCAA Tournament at least three times on the women's side, along with Geno Auriemma (11), Summitt (8), and Kim Mulkey (4). The only coaches to do that on the men's side are John Wooden (10), Krzyzewski (5), Adolph Rupp (4), Bob Knight (3), Roy Williams (3) and Jim Calhoun (3).

Oh funny funny. I had forgotten about the bammer game today and didn’t turn it on until about the last 7 or 8 minutes - bammer was down by 27.

Is Tennessee that good or is bammer that bad? We’ll soon see. We play bammer on Wednesday.

I didn’t forget this one against #22 Ole Miss

Up 35 midway through the 2nd half
Final 59 - 82

1st half stats

FG 3FG FT
% 66.7 60 100

I’m beginning to think that we’re for real

8 players scored 3s
8 players over 15 minutes each
No player with over 22 minutes

Idk, so I looked it up. Your link reads, "Week 11 results: Published January 15, 2024" and does not have a more current option.

The FBS football polls come out on Sundays, the FCS ones on Mondays. It all gets very confusing.

We’ll see tomorrow. It does say 25th, but Auburn hasn’t been higher than 13 on either coaches or ap poll until this list. So idk either

What says "25th"?

According to your link Auburn has been Coaches' #11 since Monday. -0-?

On the positive side, after winning both games there's a chance you'll move up from #11 in the Coaches' Poll tomorrow.

I meant 15th

This is the first I’ve seen at 11.

Could “the week of the 15th” have meant the week starting on the 15th?

I’ll ask my kid tomorrow, he’s my go to on all things sports.

Your link doesn't say, “the week of the 15th”. It says, "Week 11 results: Published January 15, 2024". To me that means the next poll will be "Published" one week later, today January 22. Odds are that you kept seeing the AP poll that put Auburn at #13, or someone mislabeled the AP poll as being the Coaches' poll.

Case in point, the poll at your link has Kansas at #4, even though unranked West Virginia (7-11, 2-3 Big 12) just beat it 91-85 on Sat.
https://www.espn.com/mens-college-baske ... morgantown
Heck, WVU didn't even get any Coaches' votes on the 15th. Nah, later today Kansas will be dropping to WDE territory. Watch.

He did say that I’m probably confusing with football where the coaches poll does come out on Sunday

Tonight Auburn at Bammer

All the odds people, or is it odd people, are saying bammer will win. ESPN has them at over 60% favored.

And I guess I agree considering the game is in Tuscaloosa , it’s a rivalry game and what happened there last year.

That sucked. Everyone on the team, other than Broome had their worst game ever. While some could be attributed to their defense, not all was defense - such as during the last two or three minutes our 93% foul shooter missed two of five. Had he made them we would have been ahead and it would have been them, not us, intentionally fouling at the end, or Jalen who has been hitting 80% to 100% of his shots shooting 10%.
We sucked and we got beat.

It had to happen, just too bad it happened against bammer.

That sucked. Everyone on the team had their worst game ever. While some could be attributed to State’s defense, not all was defense, it was more our indecision or maybe poor directions from coach. Whatever it was, those .5 second wide open shots we once took on our first approach to the basket turned into passes - giving their defense time to get into place, which resulted in desperation shot in the last seconds of possession. And even then we didn’t stay for the rebound (2 to 1).
Yeah, we sucked again and we got beat.

It had to happen again, just too bad it happened against State in “Starkvegas” - you non-sec folk may not realize that this is what they call Starkville, Mississippi.
