Live Space Jump at 128,540 feet!!!

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Watched it live fullscren HD on my pc which I have a 32" VIZIO flatscreen TV for a monitor.....again, totally awesome!
Not certain yet about the longest freefall time as it appeared he opened his chute before the record lenght of time. We'll see. WOW!
I suppose it wasn't the longest time wise because of the speed he attained. As the atmosphere thickened his acceleration decreased. That would be my guess as why he failed to break the sound barrier. Anyway interesting.

FF was clocked at Mach 1.24. And yes he did break sound barrier.

Amazing over 800mph!

I know I would never have this courage!

Tried hang gliding once while in Colorado and decided it was not for me.

I watched the live feed and was amazed.

Several ejections from fighters at speeds above the Mach have occurred and a few survived. The obvious difference between FF and the ejections is he, FF, started at basically "0" knots and attained Mach + in fee fall. The pilots/crews (at least one was a 2 seat fighter) were supersonic when they entered the air stream.
