I hate that I sort of agree with Steve Bannon.

H1B holders should be given more leniency to move between companies. I think right now they have 60 days to find a new sponsor before they have to leave. Bannon is right in some ways. They have no choice but to put up with a lot more abuse by employers. No wonder that shit bag Musk is highly supportive.

On the flip side, it also benefits the US to attract talent from abroad. But I highly suspect this is abused and companies likely pretend they can't find said talent locally.

In any case, it'll be interesting watching the various MAGA factions consume one another

Pay has to be the higher of either an externally measured "prevailing wage" or the average amount paid to other employees preforming similar work. If the employer terminates them, it has to pay their way back home if the employee doesn't find another sponsor. There's a lot of expense and hoop-jumping involved with H1B people. If an employer could easily hire somebody from a competitor down the street, they'd do it.
