Palisades and Eaton fires together are about the size of the city of San Francisco.O Really wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2025 3:02 pmAn acre is a decent measure for a residential or commercial property, or some farmers' fields, but why do they report fires in acres? They're saying the Palisades fire is 17,000 acres. I have no idea how big that is. Oh yeah, Alexa says it's about 26 square miles or some variation of 3 miles wide and 8 miles long, or 5 miles square. Makes a lot more vivid understanding of the huge range of this. And that's just one of the fires.

The fire map folks are lapsing.
Eaton Fire reports "Containment 0%", but has not added acres since yesterday morning, 10,600 acres.
Palisades Fire also reports "Containment 0%", but has not added acres since yesterday evening, 17,234 acres.
Sunset Fire (Hollywood Hills) also reports "Containment 0%", 60 acres, but its map has lost the mandatory evacuation and evacuation warning coloration.
