Why do you respond "seriously?" when it is a valid question? SCOTUS always provides guidance as to how a remedy should be addressed. I agree it is a Hail Mary for anything other than the amendment process.

Maybe Trump could "inquire" as to what's needed to void the Second Amendment, which is substantially less clear and precise than the 14th. Maybe some President might just issue an Executive Order proclaiming that the "not" doesn't really mean "not" and rights "shall be infringed." Same principle.

As Donald Trump begins to roll out his plans for the “largest deportation operation in history,” Mexico, the country with the highest number of unauthorized citizens living in the US — some 4 million people — is preparing to welcome back thousands of deportees. Mexico plans to send anyone from elsewhere back to their home countries.
The initiative, called “Mexico Embraces You,” aims to build nine migrant reception centers along the US border, and employ all 34 federal agencies and 16 state governments to repatriate and resettle returnees. The program intends to enroll people in pensions, paid apprenticeships, and other social welfare initiatives, and to distribute cash cards worth about $100 each. It will also bus people back to their hometowns.

The amendment is clear.

The Supreme Court is clear.

Legislation cannot trump the constitution.

The problem is there are certain people who just don't like it and seem to have no problem trying to subvert the constitution because they can.

A group of congressional Republicans introduced a bill on Thursday that they said would codify President Donald Trump’s birthright executive order that ends birthright citizenship for children of undocumented immigrants.

Rep. Brian Rabin (R-TX) led the lawmakers in the announcement of the Birthright Citizenship Act. They said the bill is intended to restore the 14th Amendment to its original purpose and “end the misuse of birthright citizenship.”
Now they'll send out stuff to their suckers voters bragging about what the "did". A more worthwhile report would be on what they had for lunch.

Well, certainly I wouldn't want Trump again (if he were even still alive and sentient) but really, otherwise I wouldn't object to restricting a president to two consecutive terms, and let them have another go at it later.

With our current Congress an amendment will never make it to the states for ratification, and a constitutional convention is very very unlikely for the reason you cite. It's just pandering RepuQs wasting our time and money in order to get campaign cash.

Agree that any amendment to the Constitution is very unlikely in the foreseeable future. That was the intent of the founders. I am continually amazed at the wisdom of the founders that they knew there would be foolish notions in the future from all sides.

Based on how this has been the standard for many years I do believe any change should be by amendment. As I stated previously, the idea of a law change was a "Hail Mary".
