Surviving a second Trump admin

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Even some conservatives were complaining about the pause. Saw some chatter where some of them were going to be personally affected in a bad way. Thoughts and prayers I guess.

It's good it was overturned. Wonder if it was pure incompetance or if they were probing to see what they could get away with.

But is it overturned?

The clown car just got a little bigger.

Oh geez. I guess I'll have to bust out the popcorn again and watch voters discover that their voting habits have real life consequences.

While I am liking most of Trump’s initial actions, one order that I have a problem with is his desire to revoke the visas of Hamas-supporting college students.

To me, that’s way out of bounds. If you are legally, you should be free to express your beliefs - even unpopular ones. As long as you don’t commit violence or pose a security threat, you should be fine.

Do they have to check a box to indicate if they support Hamas when they apply for their visas?

I’m okay with this. You don’t need the federal government to hold special events (and spend our tax dollars) for these things. They can all be done by the private sector. It doesn’t take away from these occasions.

Ha! That would be stupid. They’re just going to say no.

Let people express their beliefs freely!

Yeah, that’s tacky and self-serving.

Reminds of this Honolulu mayor who personally responded to a complaint about a pot hole. He brought his shovel and went about fixing it - but not before alerting the media and inviting TV news crews to capture the event.

My point is, how are they going to flush out and round up these sympathizers? Seems like a ton of government waste for people who aren't doing anything illegal and have demonstrated no threat other than to have an opinion.

Lol.

That's real governing.

Think she'll try and get on TV?

Of course the plane crash just blew up her chances.

It's infrastructure week deja vu.

That is very true. Even worse, this would invite people going narc and ratting on these sympathizers. Or even framing them. Trump didn’t think this through at all. And let’s not even go into how it contradicts our freedom of speech.

Okay, here’s another thing that is ticking me off about Trump. Trump is already blaming DEI for the horrible aviation incident. In my opinion, he should keep his mouth shut and let the actual investigation play out before jumping to conclusions.

It’s funny, because we were just debating the merits of DEI. Obviously, I am not a fan, and never will be. But using this tragedy to score political points is grotesque and sordid.

Especially when he pulls shit out of his ass.

If this becomes more of a thing you can bet his peeps will be scrambling to find sources to back his statements which he will double down on and all will fail miserably.

Oh, and wait a second. :laughing-rolling:
