In this particular case Vrede has attempted to tag me with a false narrative on ethnic cleansing and right on cue you decided to jump on his bandwagon. That is fine with me as your and Vrede's opinions have no impact on me..
Defending the indefensable is a big ask.
Even when given the definition of ethnic cleansing which he is apparently in favor of he deflects and runs away.
No wonder he loves Tom's echo chamber.

So after centuries of abuse, the Palestinians are finally and begrudgingly given a patch of land to (sorta) call their own in 1948 when Israel got the good parts. But since then, Israel has infringed, harassed, and attacked the Palestinians resulting in them turning to a rogue bunch like Hamas just for fundamental security. But generations have grown up defending their land, to the point of literally throwing rocks at tanks. Sure, they're gonna say "Oh Massa Trump - you want to build a resort in the land our ancestors have fought and died for and is the only land we know? No problem, we'll just move to Egypt where we'll be welcomed, I'm sure. Or maybe we could immigrate to the US. Maybe or great grandkids could get a cleaning job in your hotels."
Yeah, that's the ticket.

That is the exact same sort of "reasoning" that has resulted in trump being president.....a combination of millions of the gullible and ignorant consuming hours of Fox News nonsense on a daily basis for years and years has resulted in what is destined to be the end of our country. I give it no more than two years.O Really wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2025 5:06 pmSo after centuries of abuse, the Palestinians are finally and begrudgingly given a patch of land to (sorta) call their own in 1948 when Israel got the good parts. Re: Donny, are you ok?
I think it's fair to say that the foundation of the United States rests on the constitution (and the bill of rights, and the declaration of independence). American soldiers even swear an oath to it.
Given that, this is one item that both conservatives, liberals, and whomever ought to agree on as the basis of our country.
Over the last few weeks, Donald Trump has signed a few blatantly unconstitutional executive orders, and has also shown interest in some unconstitutional and downright frightening ideas. Here's two items that caught my eye. There may be more:
1) The end of birthright citizenship. There's no question this EO was unconstitutional (14th amendment seems pretty clear)
2) Interest in deporting US citizens to be incarcerated in foreign countries. How this isn't ringing alarm bells is beyond me.
When asked about Musks meddling, Tillis says:
"That runs afoul of the Constitution in the strictest sense. But it’s not uncommon for presidents to flex a little bit on where they can spend and where they can stop spending.”
The point I'm making is regardless of your political affiliation, given that the constitution is the cornerstone of the United States, is this not incredibly worrisome? It seems the GOP doesn't care. This isn't even a left vs right issue. Who's to say that if precedent is set, next time we have a democratic president they try to outright ban all firearms despite the second amendment?
Are these people stupid?

We (collectively, not us individually) have gotten numb to laws being broken or ignored by Trump in particular, but also by the courts themselves. And because Trump and his Trump-lites are more than willing to do something they know is illegal, knowing they'll be sued, but try it anyway to see if they can get something or a partial win. If the smite-down was immediate, it would be better, but it takes a long time to wind through courts, particularly with Trump's slow-down-stall strategy. By then people are used to the idea that he got away with it (again)

Wall Street Journal Warns New Donald Trump Move Will ‘Destroy More Wealth Than It Creates’
It "deserves to die in Congress," said the newspaper’s conservative editorial board.
On Thursday, the Wall Street Journal condemned President Donald Trump’s plan for a sovereign wealth fund, saying the idea “deserves to die in Congress.”
... While Trump’s order claimed it would “promote fiscal sustainability,” “establish economic security for future generations, and promote United States economic and strategic leadership internationally,” the Journal argued it would more likely “take resources from the private economy, fund political boondoggles, and mess with the business decisions of private companies.”
Sovereign wealth funds are normally operated by countries with surplus revenues but the U.S. “perennially runs budget deficits,” it added.
The fund would “merely be one more way for the government to commandeer private wealth for political purposes. It will destroy more wealth than it creates,” it warned.
It’s the latest criticism that’s been leveled at Trump from the Rupert Murdoch-owned media outlet, which has been opposed to the president’s now-postponed hike in tariffs on Canada and Mexican imports — and which it described in a headline as “The Dumbest Trade War In History.”
Trump’s pulling of security protection from former top aides was “vindictive” and a “new low,” the newspaper said last month.

The funny thing about calling Trump “DonOLD” is that Biden is older than he is, and his brain was so mushed that he was exposed in front of a national TV audience and was forced to exit the presidential race - and yet, if he didn’t quit, you probably would have still voted for him. You would willingly voted for a walking cadaver.Vrede too wrote: ↑Mon Feb 10, 2025 11:19 amWSJ has thoughts:Vrede too wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2025 7:49 amWhether good or bad for America, this is socialism in action:
