Kennedy next.
52 RepuQs just voted for Putin for POTUS. Traitors.... Gabbard, a military veteran and former Democratic congresswoman from Hawaii, was confirmed by a 52-48 vote, with Democrats opposed in the sharply divided Senate where Republicans hold a slim majority. The only “no’ vote from a Republican came from Sen. Mitch McConnell of Kentucky....
No winners on our bet.
The final vote on KINO isn't until tomorrow. Collins just caved, though, so his confirmation is likely.
I still have a hard time believing that was once the republican party is a collection of eunuchs.
It's starting to feel like they don't expect to ever have to face democratic elections again.

Yeah, but assuming they're not in an extremely tight channel, how can one or both the ships not turn away?neoplacebo wrote: ↑Thu Feb 13, 2025 5:17 pmI just a minute ago saw this. When I did I wentGoCubsGo wrote: ↑Thu Feb 13, 2025 2:16 pmPlanes falling out of the sky and now this.

But havig been in the the navy I know this is ultimately on two people....the captains of the vessels. It was near midnight, I guarantee the CO of the carrier was not on the bridge and that a junior officer of the deck (OOD) was in control of the ship. Who the hell knows what was going on with the other vessel. Hegseth will probably blame it on woke and go on Fox News. Many gullible fools will believe the gibberish. Same as it ever was.
We all failed and America lost, as GoCubsGo laments.
Hero.RFK Jr., America's Loudest Anti-Vaxxer, Confirmed As Health Secretary
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will lead America's public health response. Doctors say that's a "slap in the face."
... The chamber confirmed Kennedy by a vote of 52-48 largely along party lines.
Former longtime Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), a childhood polio survivor, was the only member of his party to vote against Trump’s pick....
Justifying his vote, McConnell said in a statement that over his lifetime, he has “watched vaccines save millions of lives from devastating diseases across America and around the world.”
“I will not condone the re-litigation of proven cures, and neither will millions of Americans who credit their survival and quality of life to scientific miracles,” he said.
... The pushback against Kennedy from the public health community has been enormous. Last month, more than 700 experts in the field signed an open letter pleading with senators not to confirm him. Before that, more than 17,000 doctors signed a similar letter.
“This appointment is a slap in the face to every health care professional who has spent their lives working to protect patients from preventable illness and death,” the doctors’ letter reads. “Americans deserve better.”
Takes one to know one.... “He’s not voting against Bobby. He’s voting against me,” Trump told reporters at the White House, referring to Kennedy. McConnell is “a very bitter guy,” the president continued....
Wall Street Journal Predicts Which Donald Trump Pick Will Be First To Go, And Why
The newspaper's conservative editorial board named who'd be "first one to muster out" -- even though they've only been in the position for hours.
... “Promising disruption is easy,” it noted. “The test of a cabinet is whether it delivers results. Our guess for first one to muster out is RFK Jr.”...
It's certainly an unusual and uncommon event. Both vessels possess all manner of navigation aids; charts, chronometers, radar, GPS, etc. The only thing I can think of as a likely cause is just plain incompetence or not maintainng an adequate watch (the time any given officer is in command of the ship is termed a "watch"). The radar systems on that carrier can probably detect even a small yacht; I can't think of any logical reason the carrier would not see the other ship. In any case, I bet this carrier gets a new CO shortly.GoCubsGo wrote: ↑Thu Feb 13, 2025 5:55 pmYeah, but assuming they're not in an extremely tight channel, how can one or both the ships not turn away?neoplacebo wrote: ↑Thu Feb 13, 2025 5:17 pmI just a minute ago saw this. The budget calls for up to $4.5 trillion in new deficits through tax cuts, which Republicans plan to use to extend Trump’s expiring 2017 tax law and pass other pieces of his tax agenda.
It calls for $1.5 trillion in spending cuts, with an additional caveat: The House package has to include $2 trillion in cuts to the “mandatory” part of federal spending, which covers programs like Medicare, Medicaid and food benefits known as SNAP, or $4.5 trillion amount in tax breaks must be reduced by a commensurate amount.
Since Reagan the GOP has only paid lip service to balancing the budget. Instead they support giveaways to the wealthy and maintaining a high deficit in order to limit Dem spending options. Only Clinton achieved a surplus and after him Obama did the most deficit cutting of any POTUS back through Reagan. This has been rotten policy, giving us both the Shrubcession and Dolt .45's crashing of the economy.Whack9 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 14, 2025 10:59 amIf balancing the budget is a priority, why cut taxes while also cutting spending?
