Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Just curious: What, in your opinion, is the end game here? Let’s say this Ukraine-Russia war goes on and on, with no end in sight. Are you in favor of continuing to give Ukraine billions of our tax dollars throughout that time? What should be the limit of our funding?
What are the consequences if we don't support them and democratically elected sovereign states? Do international borders even matter as long as it's not in our backyard?

Is an unchecked and emboldened Putin going to march west into Poland?

It always kills me when people say it's got nothing to do with me, so whatever.

That's like having your house on fire and your neighbor sits there drinking a beer and refuses to lend you his hose. Got nothing to do with him.

Is Jasmine defending Neville Chamberlain? Maybe that's easier to do for people who are a generation further removed from WW2 than we are. In all likelihood there is an "end in sight" - Ukraine hanging in there until 72 year old Putin dies or is deposed.

5 things to know about US-Russia talks on Ukraine

... Trump told reporters later Wednesday that the talks were going well and lashed out at Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for demanding a seat at the table.

“I hear they’re upset about not having a seat, well they’ve had a seat for three years and a long time before that. This could have been settled very easily,” he said.
:bs:
“You should have never started it,” he said at another point, referring to Zelensky....
:wtf: :bs: :bs: :bs: DonOLD just lies and lies, about everything. Is Jasmine swallowing the lies?
Trio of Trump diplomats joined two Russians at the table

(SoS Marco) Rubio, national security adviser Mike Waltz and (special envoy for the Middle East :headscratch: Steve) Witkoff were the principals at the table for the U.S.

Retired Gen. Keith Kellogg, Trump’s official envoy to end the Ukraine war, was notably absent, though the White House says he remains involved.
:wtf:
... Zelensky, who was not invited to the talks, postponed a trip to Saudi Arabia planned for Wednesday. He has criticized the U.S.-Russia talks, pushing Europe to demand a seat at the table and insisting that no decisions on ending the war can be made without Ukraine.

“Ukraine, Europe in a broad sense — and this includes the European Union, Turkey and the [United Kingdom] — should be involved in conversations and the development of the necessary security guarantees with America regarding the fate of our part of the world,” Zelensky told reporters in Ankara.
GoZelensky & EuropeGo
Rubio said no one is being “sidelined,”
:bs:
and Waltz described the U.S.-Russia talks as “shuttle diplomacy.”
Making things up now?
... “We’ll continue to push back on this notion that our allies haven’t been consulted,” Waltz said. “They are being consulted literally almost on a daily basis. And we’ll continue to do so.”...
They're most threatened. They should be at the table from the start, duh.
No details on concessions

... (Sam, director for democratic resilience) Greene, from the Center for European Policy Analysis, said the lack of details coming out of the meeting is reassuring, in that it suggests U.S. and Russian officials did not reach agreements on substantive issues that would harm Ukrainian or European interests....
It's also humiliating for DonOld and Rubio that nothing substantive was achieved. Competent international negotiators work out agreements BEFORE high-level talks. PINO is just winging it.

Deep down he's probably jealous of Zelensky. Trump's always given off a really strong sissy vibe. For fucks sake the boy cakes his face in makeup, wears lifts to make himself appear taller, is shaped like a tomato, and flies off the rails on social media like an angsty teenage girl at the slightest provocation.

You know Trump would've cowered and ran if he had been in the same position as Zelensky in the early days of the invasion

Dude even his fucking presidential portait is a joke. He's got a scowl on his face like he's an edgy twelve year old kid trying to seem like a bad ass, only the squinting he's doing with the one eye makes it look like he just finished servicing President Musk.

It's the 21st century, we're all neighbors. Isolationism has gone the way of the dinosaur and geopolitical boundaries, markets, trade and economies are global.

What actually needs to get done is to get with our western allies to kick in more, but instead we're pissing them off, calling Zelensky a clown and a dictator and cozying up to Putin.

What GoCubsGo says.

Neville, what should be the limit of our funding when Putin invades Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Finland, Poland, Bulgaria, Romania, Czech Republic, Turkey, Sweden, Norway, Greece, Croatia, Hungary, Austria, Germany, France, Italy, Netherlands, Denmark, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, United Kingdom, etc.? What should be the limit of our military lives when your abandonment of Ukraine leads to cataclysm?

Here’s a “what if?” question: What if Russia starts taking more and more of Ukraine territory, and Zelensky asks the U.S. to send actual troops to help in the war? Would you be agreeable to that? I’m guessing you wouldn’t be.

I don't think anyone is interested in WW III, it would not end well but it could end very swiftly.

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

I think we can all agree the situation in Ukraine is serious. I am of the generation that believes evil should be stopped. The Germans in WW II, Vietnam, and the Soviet Union's desire for parts of Europe with Russia now being the USSR's little brother.

I believe we should stop Putin. This action is for Europe more than Ukraine. However, our European brothers need to step up. It is not wrong for Trump to demand that. Also, geopolitics some times require alliances with questionable folks. Ukraine is corrupt and we should make sure our funding goes where it should.

Got it - Freedom for me, not for thee.
:puke-left:

What GoCubsGo and Pastor Martin Niemöller say, Mr Chamberlain. A thousand 'What ifs?' can happen. What we know now is that our spending is stalling aging Putin without the use of GIs. Isolationism sure worked out great for America in 1916 and 1940, didn't it?

FYI, most of the support for Ukraine, by far, is spent purchasing US weapons and creating US jobs. So, what is called 'foreign aid' is really American stimulus.
