I don’t think Zelensky was being disrespectful to the US in any way.

But I’m curious about the end game. What do you think is Zelensky’s scenario for an end to the war? Would he be willing to cede some territory to Russia?
Probably not, that's the point.

Trump wants them to cede territory for a cease fire, Zelensky isn't interested for a good reason and gave trump a history lesson.

Zelensky says Putin can't be trusted, he broke the ceasefire over Crimea by invading Ukraine and he's right.

History shows us that when you appease a dictator they become emboldened and anything else but a total victory should be unacceptable.

BTW,

I said before it was a performance.

Add to it that trump is still majorly pissed that Zelensky didn't vindicate him during his first impeachment.

He doesn't forgive nor does he forget.

This was preordained from the get go.

But here’s the problem: I highly doubt Russia would be willing to return any territory back to Ukraine, either.

So if neither side is willing to budge, what is left to happen is a war that will never end. That doesn’t benefit anyone. And we can’t bankroll Ukraine forever.

PINO and Just Deranged planned that whine no matter what Zelenskyy said, including equating DonOLD with the US.

I won't presume to read Zelenskyy’s mind, but one possible scenario is hanging tough until Putin dies or is overthrown, with attacks deep in Russia hastening the latter.

That would be the ideal situation. To that end, would you be in favor of the CIA assassinating Putin? I have been calling for that for a long time.

Sure, and maybe the FSB could return the favour.

Assassination, especially by foreigners, is an unpredictable tactic, sometimes increasing national resolve. Plus, Fidel could have told us how good the CIA is at it :) . Maybe Swedish security services? Let them earn their new NATO membership. ;)

Here’s another interesting aspect. The UK is reportedly willing to put “boots on the ground” to support Ukraine. Should the U.S. be willing to do the same?

For logistics, not front line.

And no, we don't need to and it has too much potential to not end well. Things have changed since the Korean and Vietnam wars.

It's actually not allowed by executive order from Ford. Rescinding it would telegraph intentions as well as change conflict resolution forever.

The other endgame is driving them out, breaking Russia's economy and irreprably damage Putin and rebuilding their country with seized Russian assets.

Trump is right about one thing: Zelensky doesn’t have the cards. He is in no position to demand anything.

Even Biden was reportedly upset Zelensky’s perceived lack of gratitude. So far all Ukraine has done is take, take, take from us. Sooner or later, we need to get something back in return.

That would be great, but I’m not very hopeful.

What was he demanding? He was here to sign rare earth agreement.

This was started soley by trump and vance as they intended.

And he's still got a lot of friends in Europe who are holding Russian assets.

Reagan’s rolling over in his grave.

Well, the story is that Zelensky was demanding security assurances in exchange for the minerals deal.

Why would Trump agree to continue to send money and weapons to Ukraine?

We need to get something out of this.
