Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

We had a great experience today driving through Carlsbad. Along the seawall walk were hundreds of people, probably at least a quarter-mile long with anti-Trump anti-Musk pro-Ukraine signs. People in cars were waving and blowing horns. Those were answered by the marchers with cheers and enthusiastic sign-waving. One had a sign "Are You Mad Yet?" to which the expected answer was "hell yes!" and more shouts "hell yes!"

Of course, it's deep blue California and not Texas, but it still seemed encouraging. The people out were mostly residents of a good economic area, all looked literate with signs spelled correctly. And all were pissed.

Tonight's great trump LAW speech to Congress - vol 2

trump will LAW about the Capitol riot he instigated and give Ashli Babbitt an honorable LAW mention.
trump will LAW about his pardons of Jan 6th insurrectionists and seditionists and LAW that they were "treated so badly."
trump will LAW about how he put out the CA fires by "turning on the water."
trump will LAW about fentanyl, how much of it is being brought in, and who is bringing it.
trump will LAW about how he "stood up for America" by disrespecting the president of Ukraine.
trump will LAW that he "ended" an EV mandate that never existed.

I think this, along with vol 1, pretty much covers it. But he could throw in a few more stinking rotten mackerel on us as well.
You have the outline for an excellent drinking game, but as GoCubsGo says, "There is not enough beer," for me to watch. I'll read the fact check articles tomorrow.
Oh, I have to watch it. It's fucking surreal history. And, yes, there are not enough drugs or beer to adequately address it. But I'm gonna do my best.

But, wait, there's more....
trump will crow about getting his boxes back from the FBI search; probably even lie that they gave him back the top secret stuff.
trump will lie about how much he and Leon Musk have "saved" but will not provide any evidence of it at all other than reduction in labor costs.
The cult will gush in awe. Hell, they'll gush in awe even when fish slapped with facts. sick fish slap....the dipshit seems to be rapidly losing his harir as well. Hilarious

Likely aspiring to be as stupid and influential as that crazy Libs of Tik Tok woman.....she got appointed to some high level position in the OK department of education. I read recently that even in OK they're starting to get tired of that nutjob they put in charge of schools. He's the noe who gave the Libs of Tik Tok her position....no qualifications, no experience, perfect. Leon Musk should have started in OK. At least there a budget deficit actually is a problem. But a budget deficit for someone who can create their own money isn't such a big deal.

He did cover a lot of the things I listed in volumes one and two of the trump LAW speech. I only lasted until a little after ten thirty.....at that point my eyes and ears were bleeding from the massive maelstrom of bullshit coming at me. Watching the cult stand and applaud after nearly each bloviating barrage of bullshit was also a vile spectacle.

We can always count on you to whine about the motes in Dem eyes - minor rudeness - while ignoring the beam in MAGA/GQP eyes:
Trump Delivers Gloating, Grievance-Filled Speech Hours After Sending Economy Reeling
The joint address to Congress was packed with the lies and grievances of his rally speeches, and barely acknowledged the economic chaos he is causing.

... On a day that his new 25% tariffs on Mexico and Canada sent the markets reeling, Trump barely acknowledged the concerns.

“There’ll be a little disturbance, but we’re OK with that,” he said. “It won’t be much.”
 All of the post-election market gains have been wiped out this week.
He lied about the state of the economy on the day of his return to office: “We inherited from the previous administration an economic catastrophe and an inflation nightmare.”

... He went through his familiar litany of absurdly old people on the Social Security rolls: “1.3 million people from ages 150 to 159.”

In fact, Biden’s economy was enjoying steady growth and inflation had come down to under 3% annually ― a “soft landing” from the pandemic that many economists thought would be impossible....

And the statistics about Social Security, while eroding confidence in the national retirement and disability system, are entirely inaccurate ― the result of Musk’s young aides, who have been rampaging through the federal agencies’ computer systems, not understanding the Social Security Administration’s rolls.

He falsely claimed that new auto plants are “opening up all over the place.” He, yet again, lied about how tariffs work, claiming that “trillions” would come in from other countries when, in reality, tariffs are collected by American importers and passed along to American consumers.
The Liar in Chief just can't help himself, sad.
Trump then turned to foreign policy, where he repeated his imperialist threats of annexing territory belonging to other countries. “We’re taking it back,” he said, regarding the Panama Canal. And about Greenland, which belongs to NATO ally Denmark, he said, “One way or another we’re going to get it.”

He once more repeated his lie that the United States has spent $350 billion to support Ukraine to fight Russia compared to $100 million from western Europe, even though the actual numbers are $204 billion from Europe and $183 billion from the United States. The vast majority of the American aid, further, was in the form of old military stock that is now being replaced by American workers in American factories.
Opps.
Trump also took the opportunity to complain, yet again, about the prosecutions against him after he left office in 2021. “We have ended weaponization of government, where, as an example, a sitting president is allowed to viciously prosecute his political opponent, like me,” he said.
:violin:
In truth, Trump was investigated and charged by federal prosecutors for his actions leading up to and on his Jan. 6, 2021, coup attempt, and his refusal to turn over secret documents he took with him to his South Florida country club.
Not that truth matters to the Whiner in Chief.
He was also charged by Georgia prosecutors for trying to overturn his 2020 election loss in that state. And his one prosecution that ended in a felony conviction was for his falsification of business records to hide a $130,000 hush money payment to a porn star ahead of his 2016 election.
The cheater got caught, awww....

"behavior", SoupySales? :laughing-rolling:
'Irony Is Dead': Trump's Most Outrageous Claim Leads To Open Laughter During Speech
Trump's claim was mocked both in the chamber and online.

... “The days of rule by unelected bureaucrats are over,” Trump said, referring to his efforts to dismantle large portions of the federal government.

Critics were quick to point to the obvious irony: Trump placed Elon Musk, who was not elected, in charge of that effort....

You Lie!

Yeah right.

Hypocrite heal thyself.

Trump won partly by tapping into the visceral anger of racist, misogynistic and (mostly white) lazy voters.

Tapping into the anger of non racist, non misogynistic and informed voters is now on the agenda and will be the theme for the next four years.

Get used to it.

Well, I think congresscritters should conduct themselves with respectful decorum for the place (Congress) they're in and the job they're responsible to the citizens for. True statement, but also along the lines of I "Imagine all the people livin' life in peace..."

Insistence on proper behaviour ended in September 2009 when Republican Joe Wilson (R-SC) yelled "you lie" during Obama's speech to Congress and wasn't immediately booted. https://newsroom.ap.org/editorial-photo ... ce=youtube

Since then, things have gone downhill. But back then, Presidents also clothed their own snark in subtlety and decorum. Trump began throwing crude insults directly. I'm pretty sure you don't think Republicans in Congress should be expected to sit quietly and respectfully while President Hillary called them enemies of the people and called for them to be jailed without trial.

Republican Rips ‘This Is NOT Normal’ Sign Away From Protesting Democrat
Trump's contentious speech to Congress was riddled with Democrat protests.

In a silent protest during President Trump’s Tuesday night address to Congress, Rep. Melanie Stansbury (D-N.M.) held up a sign that said “This is NOT normal” as Trump entered the House chamber.

Moments later, Rep. Lance Gooden (R-Texas) nabbed the paper out of Stansbury’s hand, HuffPost’s Arthur Delaney reported. Gooden then threw Stansbury’s paper into the air, which led to it landing next to Trump.

... (It’s worth noting that Gooden’s decision to throw Stansbury’s paper went against the House Freedom Caucus’s statement earlier on Tuesday warning Democrats specifically not to “throw things.”) ...

Jimmy Kimmel Brings Down The House With Damning 3-Word Response To Trump's Speech
The late-night host fired back after the president's complaint about Democrats

Jimmy Kimmel called out President Donald Trump for using his speech on Tuesday night to “whine” about how he just can’t please Democrats.

“I look at the Democrats in front of me and I realize there is absolutely nothing I can say to make them happy or to make them stand or smile or applaud,” Trump griped during his speech before a joint session of Congress. “Nothing I can do.”

Kimmel disagreed.

“You could quit,” he suggested on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”

Kimmel’s studio audience went wild.

“You can go back to Mar-a-Lago and shove your head down that gold toilet for a few months, we’d like that,” he added. “Maybe you’ll find those secret documents you flushed.”

Does anyone think any of our right wing sometime commenters will ever realize what's actually going on? I count three of them...Jasmine, Soupy, and the cat pan. I figure one of them MIGHT eventually come around. But I'm not gonna say which one.
Jasmine - I don't think she's a fan of DonOLD, so we may see some increasing criticism. However, she's an extreme libertarian and I don't think that will change. She even supports Jim Crow as long as it's private rather than government imposed.

SoupySales - Having his facts and logic shredded for over a decade has made no difference. I don't expect change, but he may be the most likely of the three.

Misogyny, too? Sure looks that way.
