Neon Deion was rash, brash, and in-your-face, but he rarely said anything he couldn't back up. Not so sure Shadeur is there yet, and probably would do better if he didn't try to be.

Deion Sanders: NFL Career highlights and awards
2× Super Bowl champion (XXIX, XXX)
NFL Defensive Player of the Year (1994)
6× first-team All-Pro (1992–1994, 1996–1998)
2× second-team All-Pro (1991, 1999)
8× Pro Bowl (1991–1994, 1996–1999)
NFL kickoff return yards leader (1992)
NFL 1990s All-Decade Team
NFL 100th Anniversary All-Time Team
PFWA All-Rookie Team (1989)
Atlanta Falcons Ring of Honor

I would have drafted him if I knew that was in the offing.

IIRC he played for four teams, Atlanta, Dallas, San Francisco and Baltimore.

Played a little baseball too.

Geno did a better job for the Seahawks than I expected, but he probably doesn't have many more top seasons. Shadeur needs to get away from Prime, stop being a Prime Time wannabe, concentrate on his game and he'll probably do really well.
27 year old Sam Darnold might be a winner for the Seahawks:
Former 49ers QB lands $100 million contract with NFC West rival

... Per a slew of NFL Network insiders, Darnold inked a three-year, $100 million contract with the Seahawks. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that $55 million is guaranteed.

Darnold just enjoyed a breakout season with the Minnesota Vikings, passing for 4,319 yards and 35 touchdowns against 12 interceptions in 17 regular season starts. Darnold earned his first career Pro Bowl invite during the 2024 season with the Vikings.

With Darnold as its starting quarterback, the Vikings finished 14-3 and grabbed the No. 5 seed in the NFC playoffs before bowing out against the Los Angeles Rams, 27-9, in the wild card round....
Fingers crossed.

From Outkick.com:
There is no evidence that black quarterbacks are treated differently in the NFL or college football, and there hasn't been for a very long time. On the surface, that should be considered progress. However, there is a subsection within the media that refuses to let the narrative naturally subside.

This week, ESPN commentator Ryan Clark responded to reports that Shedeur Sanders' draft stock could drop because certain scouts find him "brash" and "arrogant." Clark argued that the criticism toward Sanders could be rooted in racism.

"It's not just about him being Deion Sanders' son. It's about the bravado he carries. It's about the fact that he looks a certain way. It is about the fact that the color of his skin sometimes at the position can be questioned. And I believe Shedeur Sanders is going to have to deal with that until he gets on the field," Clark said.
This is such BS. If Shedeur’s draft stock is dropping, it has nothing to do with his skin color. Black QBs are the norm these days. Who wouldn’t want a Lamar Jackson, Patrick Mahomes, Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, Dak Prescott, Kyler Murray, CJ Stroud, etc. on their team?

With my Raiders picking at No. 6, I’ve been following the draft projections very closely. Cam Ward (who is black) is clearly regarded as the top available QB. Sanders is generally regarded as the second-best available QB. The problem is, this is not a very strong draft class for quarterbacks. If Ward and Sanders were in last year’s draft, both would be taken as the fourth, fifth or even sixth QB chosen. They’s fall behind Williams, Daniels, Drake Maye and maybe even JJ McCarthy.

The scout on Sanders is that he’s smart and accurate, but doesn’t have a great arm and isn’t a great athlete. He also takes too many sacks, although part of that is due to poor line play.

Stop crying “racist!” every time an athlete’s abilities or character is questioned. And yes, if Sanders is available at No. 6, I hope the Raiders draft him. He may or may not pan out, but he’d be worth the risk.

The NFL is probably the most win at any cost league.

If he can play he'll be drafted accordingly. Lip service is payed to character up to the point of a player being jailed or complete locker room polarization.

I believe if Colin Kaeperninck could really play he'd still be in the league. His problem wasn't his stance on social issues, it was that the league figured him out and he didn't have a next level.

I don't know anything about Ryan Clark except that he's a fool. Sure it once did, but being Black now doesn't matter in the least with QBs. Behaviour, on the other hand matters at least a little to the teams (except maybe to those who acquired and played Deshaun Watson et.al.) So it seems legit to think that too much attitude in a rookie could be a negative, particularly if he hasn't yet earned the right to that attitude.

Well, NFL teams do extensive background checks on prospects. Unfortunately, sometimes things slip through the cracks. As a Raiders fan, I know this all too well (Henry Ruggs, Damon Arnette, JaMarcus Russell, etc.).

RIP to “Mongo.” I know he was a Bears legend, but I remember him better as a member of pro wrestling’s famed “Four Horsemen.” He was quite a character.

Well, the NFL Draft is underway. My Raiders picked running back Ashton Jeanty with the No. 6 overall pick. I’m very happy with that, as the Raiders had perhaps the worst running attack in the league last year.

I kinda feel sorry for Shedeur Sanders. The first round has come and gone, and no one’s picked him yet.

I wanted him to fall to the Bears.

Sanders isn't an NFL 1st round quarterback. A couple of years riding the pine and sitting in an NFL locker room is what he needs,

And to think a lot of Raider fans were mad that the Raiders didn’t “tank” enough to get a higher draft pick because they wanted Sanders. We still might be able to get him in the second round! Unlikely, though.

Somebody - and it might have been me - said Shedeur ought to turn down the attitude a little until he has proven himself. Apparently that hurt him during the NFL interview stage. I still think he'll be a star eventually, but he's likely to get a harsh lesson or so in his first year. And you have to wonder, if your Raiders, who have a history of making stars out of misfits, passed on him, where is he gonna find a better fit?

End of Round 3, and still no Shedeur Sanders. I’m honestly shocked. Even QB-needy teams like Cleveland and my Raiders passed over him.

Even Dillon Gabriel was picked!

Not surprisingly, the race-baiters are crying over this. But reports indicate that Shedeur did horrible at the in-person interviews. One team source said there’s no “smoking gun,” but implied that Sanders had an attitude problem.

O Really is right. You can be brash and cocky if you’re Deion Sanders, but you have to have the talent to back everything up.

I’m bummed because I really wanted Jalen Milroe, but Cleveland scooped him up.

I really can't see that the Mr. T style neckwear, the dollar sign pictured as well as the arguably worse "Legend" helped his cause at all in the pre-selection process. I don't think you'd find real legends like Lamar Jackson wearing that stuff.
