Solvang as Denmark’s West Coast Capital?

Supporters of the initiative have suggested that Solvang, California—a town known as the "Danish Capital of America"—would serve as the natural capital if the deal were to go through. The petition further highlights the state's warm climate and scenic beauty as selling points for the Danish public....

Instant and very public fact check:
Lawrence O'Donnell Flags Moment Trump Was ‘Fully Humiliated On The World Stage’
Donald Trump was “humiliated and exposed in a way that no previous president ever could be," said the MSNBC anchor.

... O’Donnell noted how Macron had interrupted “blustering” Trump, who was parroting his “standard line about Europe’s aid to Ukraine, the lie that Europe has loaned money to Ukraine, and it’s a loan, and Ukraine has to pay it back.”

“Trump became the first American president in history fully humiliated on the world stage by instantly getting caught and corrected in his lie,” he continued.

Macron “actually reached out, grabbed the arm of the American president, to stop him from telling a lie about France and the rest of the countries of Europe,” he noted.

... The U.S. president was “humiliated and exposed in a way that no previous president ever could be because no previous president would be pathological enough to try to tell a lie like that right in front of the person he’s lying about. And no previous president could possibly be stupid enough to try to tell a lie like that,” said O’Donnell.

“I would tell him to grow a spine and stop being Putin’s ho."
-- Rep. Jasmine Crockett
:---P
'Somebody Slap Me And Wake Me The F**k Up': Jasmine Crockett Pans 'Nightmare' Trump Speech
The Texas Democrat offered an unfiltered response to the president's speech in Congress.

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) called out President Donald Trump as “really psychotic” for saying the United States would gain control over Greenland “one way or the other.”

“I don’t even know why we’re fighting with Greenland,” she told Adam Mockler of the progressive MeidasTouch Network following Trump’s Tuesday speech before a joint session of Congress. “Why are we fighting with Greenland? We’re fighting with Canada, we’re fighting with Mexico, yet we’re in love with Putin? What is happening? Like, this is not America. This is a terrible nightmare. Somebody slap me and wake me the fuck up because I’m ready to get on with it.”
Friends are enemies and enemies are friends.
“We need [Greenland] really for international world security, and I think we’re going to get it,” he said. “One way or the other, we’re going to get it.”

Trump reportedly floated obtaining Greenland ― which is an autonomous territory of Denmark ― during his first term in office but said little about it publicly.

That changed after he won last year’s election, when he called taking control over Greenland an “absolute necessity” and suggested taking it by force if needed.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio in January insisted that the effort “is not a joke” and said obtaining the territory is in the “national interest” of the United States.
Of course it's a joke, Little Marco, ain't never gonna happen. It's just another of PINO's 'Look at me' distractions. Get a clue.
However, Denmark isn’t open to the idea, with Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen insisting that the territory “is not for sale.”

Meanwhile, Danish politician Anders Vistisen bluntly told Trump he can “fuck off.”

And Greenland Prime Minister Múte Egede was more diplomatic but just as clear.

“I think in the future, we have a lot to offer to cooperate with but we want to also be clear. We don’t want to be Americans, we don’t want to be a part of U.S. but we want a strong cooperation together with U.S.,” Egede told Fox News earlier this year....

Greenland Just Had An Election. Here's How Its Only Pro-Trump Candidate Did.
President Donald Trump has been openly courting the Danish territory to join the United States.

... During a debate earlier this week, leaders of six parties were asked if they trust Trump.

Five said no.

The one yes, Karl Ingemann of the relatively new Qulleq party, didn’t even win a seat in Parliament after his party flopped with just 1.1% of the vote.
:---P
The biggest winner this week was the center-right Demokraatit Party, which took nearly 30% of the vote.

Its leader, Jens-Frederik Nielsen, has been blunt in addressing Trump’s ambitions for the territory, calling his rhetoric “a threat to our political independence.”

... Polls show it’s not a popular notion in Greenland, with 85% of respondents opposed in a January survey....
PINO flops, again.

French Lawmaker Trashes Trump's America With Call For Icon's Return Amid Cheers
Raphael Glucksmann delivered a scathing message to "the Americans who have chosen to side with tyrants."

A French member of the European Parliament has taken a bold swipe at the United States under President Donald Trump and called for the return of the Statue of Liberty, which France gifted to America and has since become a symbol of freedom and democracy worldwide.

“We’re going to say to the Americans who have chosen to side with tyrants, to the Americans who fired researchers for demanding scientific freedom: ‘Give us back the Statue of Liberty,’” Raphael Glucksmann told supporters of his center-left Place Publique party on Sunday.

“We gave it to you as a gift, but apparently you despise it. So it will be just fine here at home,” he continued of the iconic landmark that was dedicated in New York Harbor in 1886 to commemorate the centennial of the American Declaration of Independence, drawing cheers from the crowd.
It's sad, but hard to argue against.
Glucksmann also had a mesage for the U.S.-based scientists who have been hit by Trump-enabled billionaire Elon Musk’s gutting of federally-backed research programs via the nonofficial Department of Government Efficiency.

“If you want to fire your best researchers—those who, through their freedom, innovation, and pursuit of knowledge, helped make your country the world’s leading power—then we’re going to welcome them,” Glucksmann declared.

DonOLD LIES, again:
Trump says Greenland officials invited US delegation. Greenland says that's not true.

Greenland's government flatly denied a claim made by President Donald Trump that officials from the island invited a U.S. delegation led by Usha Vance, the wife of Vice President JD Vance, to visit the Arctic territory this week.

Vance and her son are expected to land in Greenland on Thursday, alongside Trump's National Security Adviser Mike Waltz and Energy Secretary Chris Wright. The Vances will watch a dogsled race and "celebrate Greenlandic culture and unity," the second lady said in a statement. Waltz and Wright plan to visit a U.S. military base.

Some officials in Greenland, including outgoing Prime Minister Múte B. Egede, have described the trip as a "provocation" and "highly aggressive," given Trump's stated desire to acquire the Danish territory....

Trump says US will 'go as far as we have to' to get control of Greenland

President Donald Trump said the U.S. will "go as far as we have to go" to get control of Greenland, ahead of a planned visit to the Arctic island by Vice President JD Vance that has prompted criticism from Greenland and Denmark.
Assholes.
Vance, second lady Usha Vance and Energy Secretary Chris Wright will lead the U.S. delegation to visit the Pituffik military space base in the northwest of the island,
I've been there. Not very cheery, there are much better places to be a Greenland tourist.
having scaled back plans for a broader and longer visit. The American group was originally planning to visit the Greenlandic capital, Nuuk, and a dog sled race.
Aha, they weren't invited and would not have been welcome at the dog sled race.
:---P
... "So we'll, I think, we'll go as far as we have to go," (DonOLD) continued. "We need Greenland. And the world needs us to have Greenland, including Denmark. Denmark has to have us have Greenland.
:bs: :bs: Neither the Danes nor the Greenlanders want you.
And, you know, we'll see what happens. But if we don't have Greenland, we can't have great international security."

Trump added, "I view it from a security standpoint, we have to be there."
Asshole, imperialist.
Trump also said that he understood "JD might be going," referring to the vice president, but did not offer any details about the trip. Vance is expected to travel to Greenland on Friday.
Yet another comms breakdown?
Greenland's Prime Minister Mute Egede earlier this week called the upcoming visit by U.S. officials part of a "very aggressive American pressure against the Greenlandic community" and called for the international community to rebuke it.
:---P
After the U.S. announced that the visit would be pared back to only include the Pituffik base, Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen said the decision was "wise."
 Lotta harpoons and rifles there.
... Greenlandic Prime Minister Mute Bourup Egede dismissed Trump's remarks. "Greenland belongs to the Greenlanders," he wrote on social media.

"We are not Americans, we are not Danes because we are Greenlanders. This is what the Americans and their leaders need to understand, we cannot be bought and we cannot be ignored."

  What did I just say?
U.S. officials went door-to-door in Greenland to find anyone who wanted to be visited by the Vances. They found no one.

No one wants to talk to Usha Vance—at least no one in Greenland.

US officials have reportedly been traveling around the Danish-controlled territory looking for locals who wanted to receive a visit from the Second Lady, according to a report from Danish TV 2.

Greenlanders' response? No thanks.

Residents aren't the only ones snubbing the Second Lady ahead of her high-profile visit to the island; Tupilak Travel, which is based in Greenland's capital city, Nuuk, initially said it would host Usha Vance, but pulled out on Thursday.

In a post on Facebook, the company said that the US Consulate called and asked if it wanted the visit, and the company initially said yes, but then backed out.

“After closer consideration, however, we have now informed the consulate that we do not want her visit, as we cannot accept the underlying agenda and will not be part of the press show that, quite, of course, comes with it. No thanks to nice visit… Greenland belongs to the Greenlanders," the company said.
 :---P
The cancellation comes on the same day that Vice President JD Vance announced that he would join his wife's upcoming trip to Greenland.

“There was so much excitement around Usha’s visit to Greenland this Friday, that I decided that I didn’t want her to have all that fun by herself, and so I’m going to join her,” Vance said in a video posted to X.
:laughing-rolling: Idiot.
... The U.S. delegation was also scheduled to attend the Avannaata Qimusserua, one of the world's largest dog-sledding events, but that visit has been cancelled as well, according to USA Today.
Not classy enough for a dogsled race is really saying something. Hate from the top:
... Greenlanders and Danish authorities aren't pleased about the trip. Denmark's Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen accused the US of exerting "unacceptable pressure" on Greenland through its planned visit.

“I have to say that it is unacceptable pressure being placed on Greenland and Denmark in this situation. And it is pressure that we will resist,” Frederiksen told Danish broadcasters DR and TV2 on Tuesday. “You cannot make a private visit with official representatives from another country, when the acting Greenlandic government has made it very clear that they do not want a visit at this time,”

Frederiksen went on to say the US delegation's arrival is "clearly not a visit that is about what Greenland needs or wants."

“President Trump is serious. He wants Greenland. Therefore, [this visit] cannot be seen independently of anything else,” Frederiksen said.
:---P :---P :---P
... Greenland itself is rich with rare earth minerals, which are essential components in the production of cellphones, batteries, and other consumer technologies.
There's always a grift with PINO, always.

I'd have to think hard about going to a dog sled race in Greenland even if all expenses were covered and a five hundred dollar a day allowance was part of the deal. Being disinvited or encouraged to not attend the race is a serious fish slap. I'd not want to be subject to that. It's not a good look.

Dog sled races are loud, but exciting. Greenland is amazingly beautiful.

Yeah, it's stunning that the Vance's and Waltz got chased to a US base in the far NE corner of Greenland. Hilarious, too.

Social Media Shocked By What JD Vance Said About Trump In Greenland
The vice president justified Donald Trump's effort to control the island by saying, "We can't just ignore the president's desires."

 Kiss ass.

"Executive Editor, @ForeignAffairs ...":
The president's desires? WTF is wrong with these people?
”We cannot just ignore the president’s desires”… you can’t just have countries because you want them. Greenland won’t be part of the US. Canada won’t be part of the US, find a new lunacy to hold on to.

"We cannot ignore the President`s desires." Are you fucking kidding me, @JDVance. That is PRECISELY what all sane people around the world should do.
Is he serious? When did we start viewing Presidents as Kings or Dictators?

The GOP no longer work for their constituents. They aim to please the desires of their President.

Americans Really, Really Hate Trump’s Greenland Plan, CNN Data Chief Says
Harry Enten turned to a historic example showing just how much Americans aren't in line with the president's annexation push.

... Enten, who appeared on “Anderson Cooper 360°” on Tuesday, turned to a recent Fox News poll that showed 70% of Americans who don’t agree that the U.S. should take control of Greenland compared to 26% of others who do.

“That is more Americans who were for the impeachment and removal of Richard Nixon by the end of his presidency. This is uniformly unpopular, even only half of Republicans support it,” Enten stressed....
:---P
Enten pointed to a January poll showing 85% of Greenland residents responded “no” when asked if the territory should become part of America. 6% of respondents, meanwhile, answered “yes” to the same question.

“To give you an idea of how low 6% is, if you took a poll of Americans and say, ‘Do you believe we actually landed on the moon?’ About 10% of Americans think we faked the moon landing,” Enten noted....
:---P :---P
“I have never seen a single poll in which the yeses on us purchasing Greenland was higher than the no’s throughout American history,” Enten added.
