OK, let's say that Canada was willing to join the US, and that all the necessary US internal hoops could be successfully jumped through. What in the world makes him think that an independent country with 10 provinces all of which operate essentially as US states do would even consider becoming just one great big US state? At the very least, they'd insist on each province becoming its own state, and defend that position vigorously. And if Canadian provinces became states, the repugs wouldn't ever win another national election. Oh, wait. Maybe adding Canada is a good idea. Better still, make the US part of Canada and let the states become provinces.
