California couple deported after living in U.S. for 35 years

ICE is having a hard time finding all these "criminals" that DonOLD wound up the MAGAts with. So, it's going after the low-hanging fruit, grandparents who have been here for decades, taxpayers who were doing everything right. :(

I know repugs like to trash Biden's imaginary "open border" but past the propaganda and exaggeration, there are real law enforcement people doing real law enforcement jobs. If it was easy to walk around and pick up the violent and maybe convicted criminals off the street they would have done it. Trump's jackboots still haven't made it up to the deportation rate of either Obama or Biden. Why? because they changed the priorities to chasing unicorns instead of hunting deer.

I could care less if some ILLEGALS are picked up and possibly deported. They are, in fact, here illegally. Until we get past the "illegal" part finding a way for them to stay should be on hold.
Trump administration is also going after immigrants who live here legally. It has them terrified

More of Supplicantsalemgr's "Criminals". Note that some are asylum seekers, which is NOT illegal. Some of these were forced to seek asylum after being tortured for participating in anti-government protests. Remember when the GQP and probably Supplicantsalemgr honored anti-communists? That's over.

There aren't enough Russian tourists to compensate for all the ones we're discouraging.
‘She Is Not Hannibal’: Dad Details Horrific Way British Backpacker Daughter Was Treated By ICE
Paul Burke detailed the "punitive" way his daughter Rebecca was treated prior to her deportation.

The father of a British backpacker who was detained for 19 days by U.S. immigration officials at the U.S.-Canada border has slammed the “punitive treatment” his daughter endured before being deported.

Rebecca Burke, 28, from Wales, was taken from the detention facility to the airport ready for her deportation in leg chains, waist chains and handcuffs, her father, Paul Burke, told the BBC on Thursday. Watch the interview here.

“She is not Hannibal Lecter,” he said of his daughter, comparing the restraint measures used on her to those used on the fictional cannibalistic serial killer played by Anthony Hopkins in “The Silence of the Lambs.”

Burke also described how his daughter struggled to walk, needing support from an ICE officer as she shuffled her legs along in the chains.

Burke criticized the lack of official communication, saying he only learned of his daughter’s imminent deportation through a telephone call from one of her fellow detainees.
Her "crime" must have been really terrible!
“There’s a lot of things that really we’ve got to try and address, I guess it can only be through political channels, to make sure this doesn’t happen to anyone else,” he told the BBC.

Rebecca Burke had entered the U.S. under the Visa Waiver Program, which, per U.S. Customs and Border Protection, does not allow compensation even if it’s just room and board.

She had performed chores for a host family in exchange for accommodation, which led to her detention amid President Donald Trump’s crackdown on immigration. She returned home to the United Kingdom on Tuesday.
:o Horrors!!!

What :bs: ! ICE has a stick up its ass. American youth have freely traveled the world for hundreds of years making similar arrangements - chores, English tutoring, WOOFing, etc. Of course, silver spoon DonOLD is clueless about what it's like working to get by.

Ironically, during her 19 day detention I'll bet that Rebecca was required to do basic housekeeping of her cell and the jail, if not also other jobs.

Non-"illegals" made unwelcome. This is pure White supremacy in action:
Trump revokes legal status for 530,000 Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans and Venezuelans

U.S. President Donald Trump's administration will revoke the temporary legal status of 530,000 Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans and Venezuelans in the United States, according to a Federal Register notice on Friday, the latest expansion of his crackdown on immigration.

The move, effective April 24, cuts short a two-year "parole" granted to the migrants under former President Joe Biden that allowed them to enter the country by air if they had U.S. sponsors.
Haiti just sucks due to natural and human disasters while the bulk of the others are anti-communists, people RepuQs especially used to be thrilled to support. :headscratch:
... Trump said on March 6 that he would decide "very soon" whether to strip the parole status from some 240,000 Ukrainians who fled to the U.S. during the conflict with Russia. Trump's remarks came in response to a Reuters report that said his administration planned to revoke the status for Ukrainians as soon as April....
Mixed feeling on this. Obviously, it sucks for the individuals on a personal level. They'll return to a difficult place. Geopolitically, however, many had left when it looked like a Russian occupation was imminent. Now, Ukraine has hung tough and can certainly use the people as fighters and as people supporting them from the rear. I doubt that Putin wants them to come back.

‘The View’ Host Whoopi Goldberg Gives Blunt Warning About Trump’s Deportations: ‘Next One They Take Could Be You’

... In discussing the latest round of deportations by the president and ICE, the ABC talk show played a clip of Trump’s “border czar” Tom Homan claiming on “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” that only terrorists have been deported, and were given due process.

There has been no proof of this, which host Jonathan Karl immediately pointed out, noting that at least one of those deported has no criminal record whatsoever. Additionally, several of those sent out of the country have green cards, valid visas or have been married to U.S. citizens.
InHoman is rising on my list of worst PINO appointees.
Following the clip, “The View” moderator Whoopi Goldberg was quick to remind those watching that, last year, Homan swore on Fox Business that “legal immigrants are perfectly safe” from any Trump deportation efforts.

“This is what he said. This is not what they’re doing,” she said pointedly. “And yes, this is on us. Because the next one they take could be you.”

Host Ana Navarro shared Whoopi’s outrage, saying that everything Homan said in the clip was “a complete and absolute lie.”
Former Jeb Bush Republican, "Never Trumper".
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ana_Navarro
Back to the article:
“I would say to Tom Homan, if in fact they are Tren de Aragua [gang members], and if in fact they are hardened criminals, then why don’t you release their names and release their crimes?!” she said. “Show us the evidence! Are we a country of rules, and laws, and evidence? Or are we a dictatorship?”
I think she's answered her own question. InHoman won't, he's a coward and a racist bully.
“This is all being done for the purpose of cruelty. It is all a political farce. Most of these people that they sent — or many of them — as quoting the government, do not have ties to Tren de Aragua,” she added shortly thereafter. “This is inhumane, it is disgusting, it is outrageous, it is racially profiling Venezuelans and Latinos, it is un-America.”

Faux Noise proves Whoopi Goldberg's point:

If Due Process isn't practical - then this isn't the United States. That's the very hallmark of justice and Kilmeade is a tool of the oppressor.
I don’t think that Brian is understanding the issue at hand. One thing is to deport people that are here illegally. It’s another thing to sentence people to prison (in another country) with no due process and no recourse. Which is much different than deportation.
Unfortunately for @kilmeade (but fortunately for all freedom- and liberty-loving people), due process is not contingent on it being "convenient" or us thinking someone "deserves it."

It's mandatory.
I wonder how Brian Kilmeade would feel if a Democratic president were deny him due process. The reason due process is exists is because every single person (even people like him who want to push us into fascism) are innocent until proven guilty.
They don’t get it because they “deserve” it. It is everyone’s right and if they don’t get it then we all run the risk of losing a fundamental right and the rule of law.
This is one of the most chilling and idiotic statements in the history of chilling and idiotic statements.
I’m convinced that the people who don’t see the comparisons to Nazi Germany by this point will never be on the right side of history.
Most of those people will gladly argue FOR those things. They know the similarities and are wondering how to implement them.
So true. :(
Any person in the United States of America is afforded due process.

We don’t just stop it because there’s a lot of people that need due process or because it’s too burdensome.

It is the way we protect regular people from being unjustly punished by the government.
Oh it’s too hard to give everyone due process? So we’re just going to randomly pick who gets it? Great, when he or someone in his family get arrested we should just put them on a plane to a prison camp with no due process and tell him too bad we don’t have the resources for that.

Illegal bigot PINO loses again:
Court Won't Halt Order Barring Trump Deportations Under Wartime Law
Invoking the law for the first time since World War II, President Donald Trump’s administration deported hundreds of people under a presidential proclamation.

A federal appeals court refused Wednesday to lift an order barring the Trump administration from deporting Venezuelan migrants to El Salvador under an 18th century wartime law.

A split three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit upheld a March 15 order temporarily prohibiting deportations under the Alien Enemies Act of 1798.
:---P
... Attorneys from the American Civil Liberties Union filed the lawsuit on behalf of five Venezuelan noncitizens who were being held in Texas.
GoACLUGo
... Boasberg, the chief judge of the federal district court in Washington, has vowed to determine whether the government defied his order to turn planes around. The administration has invoked a “state secrets privilege” and refused to give Boasberg any additional information about the deportations.
“state secrets"? :wtf: :bs: The admin* boasted about the flight.
... Boasberg ruled that immigrants facing deportation must get an opportunity to challenge their designations as alleged gang members. His ruling said there is “a strong public interest in preventing the mistaken deportation of people based on categories they have no right to challenge.”
PINO's racist minions knew the evidence was flimsy, hence the speedy, costly, illegal flights.
The appeal was heard by Judge Patricia Millett, who was nominated by Democratic President Barack Obama; Judge Justin Walker, was nominated by Trump in 2020; and Judge Karen LeCraft Henderson, who was nominated by Republican President George H.W. Bush in 1990.
Hah, DonOLD lost at least one Repub judge. :---P :---P

Will he defy the Appeals Court, too?

Trump's move to end an immigration program hits a powerful Republican base of voters

The Trump administration’s decision last week to revoke temporary legal status for thousands of Cuban immigrants is putting Cuban American Republicans, most of whom vocally support the president, in the difficult political position of either backing an end to a popular program in their community — or disagreeing with Trump.

President Joe Biden started the so-called humanitarian parole process for Cuban, Haitian, Nicaraguan and Venezuelan migrants. It created a framework used by more than 500,000 people from those countries to stay in the U.S. for up to two years if they had a financial sponsor. Of the four migrant population groups covered, the biggest by far are Cubans....

The inhumane nature of this post is horrific. And it all stems from a mere belief some people have - that they are far better than the rest of humanity. That just because they are born in US, by a mere chance, they are better than the rest of the world. You probably believe that God thinks you are special. No soul there at all.
Are we supposed to be proud that we sent a bunch of people there without due process? Are we supposed to accept “Trust me bro” about the crimes they committed?
This is fucking disgusting
That prison looks like a Nazi concentration camp, with all the prisoners piled on top of each, heads shaved. And then there's you, in your tight t-shirt, perfectly coiffed hair and makeup.

Another Ugly American:
Judge holds ICE agent in contempt after he detained suspect during a trial
A judge in Boston is holding an U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent in contempt after he detained a suspect while he was on trial

... ICE agent Brian Sullivan detained Wilson Martell-Lebron last week as he was leaving court. But a Boston Municipal Court judge issued a ruling Monday against Sullivan, arguing that he had deprived Martell-Lebron of his rights to due process and a fair trial by taking him into custody.

“It's a case of violating a defendant's right to present at trial and confront witnesses against him," Judge Mark Summerville said from the bench. “It couldn't be more serious.”

Summerville dismissed the charge against Martell-Lebron of making false statements on his driver’s license application -- namely that he wasn't Martell-Lebron. After that, Summerville filed the contempt charge against Sullivan, which could lead Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden review the case to determine if any charges should be filed.

“It's reprehensible,” Ryan Sullivan, one of Martell-Lebron's lawyers said. “Law enforcement agents have a job to see justice is done. Prosecutors have a job to see justice is done. There is no greater injustice in my mind than the government arresting someone, without identifying themselves, and preventing them from exercising their constitutionally guaranteed right to a jury trial.” ...
:---P What part of "illegal" do agent Brian Sullivan and ICE not understand?
Judge rejects government's request to move Mahmoud Khalil's case to Louisiana
The opinion clears the way for the judge to decide the issue of his confinement.

... "The Petitioner was in New Jersey on March 9 at 4:40am. And Congress has required that the Petition must be taken as having been filed in New Jersey at that same moment. That vested this Court with jurisdiction. The Court's jurisdiction is not defeated by the Petitioner having been moved to Louisiana," Judge Michael Fabiarz wrote in a 67-page opinion on Tuesday.
67-pages! He must hope to preempt a reversal. Clearly, sleazy ICE is venue shopping with the prisoner move.

Judge Fabiarz's credentials are unassailable. As an assistant US attorney he prosecuted a would-be LAX bomber, Somali pirates including the sole survivor of the Captain Phillips incident, and Russian spies including femme fatale Anna Chapman.

Back to the article:
... Lawyers for Khalil urged a federal judge to keep his habeas case in New Jersey to prevent the government from a "Kafka-esque" moving of Khalil from one detention facility to another.

"We are grateful the court wisely understood that the government cannot try to manipulate the jurisdiction of the United States courts in a transparent attempt to shield their unconstitutional -- and frankly chilling -- behavior," Baher Azmy, an attorney for Khalil, said in a statement on Tuesday. "We look forward to the next phase of this case, which is to get Mahmoud out of detention and into the arms of his family, and then to prove the Trump administration's attempted deportation of Mahmoud and others is nothing but unconstitutional retaliation for protected speech."
PINO, InHoman and ICE despise the 1A.
... "I am relieved at the court's decision today to keep my husband's ongoing case in New Jersey," his wife, Noor Abdalla, said in a statement Tuesday. "This is an important step towards securing Mahmoud's freedom, but there is still a lot more to be done. As the countdown to our son's birth begins and I inch closer and closer to my due date, I will continue to strongly advocate for Mahmoud's freedom and for his safe return home so he can be by my side to welcome our first child."
PINO, InHoman and ICE despise family values.
During a hearing on Friday over whether the case should remain in New Jersey, Azmy told the judge there is a "prohibition on forum shopping" to find a court that might be most sympathetic to the government's position.

... After deciding on the jurisdictional question, the judge can now consider the substantive question of whether the detention of Khalil, a green card holder, was lawful.

Khalil is due to appear before an immigration judge for a removal proceeding on April 8.

He is among a half-dozen international students who have supported Palestinians to be detained by the administration in recent weeks. No charges have been filed against any of them.

The administration has argued the students' continued presence in the country undermines American foreign policy and revoked their status. Attorneys for the students have argued the administration is punishing them for lawful activity.
