Team Trump Ready to Knife One Official for ‘Liberation Day’ Chaos
Donald Trump’s allies are prepared to pile the blame on Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick if the president’s “Liberation Day” tariff plan crashes and burns, according to a report.
Lutnick has spent a lot of time in the Oval Office hyping more and more aggressive tariffs even as the markets plunged, consumer confidence dropped, and investors expressed alarm, according to Politico. The outlet cites multiple sources close to the White House in reporting that Lutnick may even lose his job in the administration amid the potential economic turmoil that could result from Trump’s announcement tomorrow.

Fast response:Vrede too wrote: ↑Mon Mar 31, 2025 3:36 pmWhy not?... "As you said last week Karoline, you said there would be an investigation or a review into how [Editor-in-Chief of the Atlantic] Jeffrey Goldberg's number got on that group chat, what's the status of that review? And what is the status of National Security Advisor Mike Waltz?" asked a reporter.
"Mhm. As the president has made it very clear Mike Waltz continues to be an important part of his national security team, um, and this case has been closed here at the White House as far as we are concerned," Leavitt replied.
"There have been steps made to ensure that something like that can obviously never happen again, um, and we're moving forward and the president and Mike Waltz and his entire national security team have been working together very well if you look at how much safer the United States of America is because of the leadership of this team," she added.
Waltz was the man who accidentally added Goldberg to an unsecured Signal group chat that included alleged alcoholic Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Vice President J.D. Vance, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio among others.
In that chat, they discussed war plans for striking the Houthis in Yemen — a staggering breach of security protocol that thankfully did not result in the loss of American lives although it easily could have.
This is not the kind of incident that we simply "move on" from. The American people demand immediate resignations and firings. Until these incompetent fools are removed from power, our families are not safe.
Please retweet andto demand immediate resignations for SignalGate ...

Decision makers,
Karoline Leavitt said last week that there would be an investigation into SignalGate. What's the status of that review? What steps have been made to ensure that something like it can never happen again?
Mike Waltz made a huge mistake that obviously disqualifies him from being national security advisor. However, the bigger error was made by EVERY participant in the Signal chat. It was a staggering breach of security protocol, especially by Pete Hegseth, that thankfully did not result in the loss of American lives although it easily could have. In a competent and patriotic administration the national security team knows that Signal texting violates secure communications and record keeping laws.
Ironically, your Contact Us page says, "These messages are being captured and archived in compliance with the Presidential Records Act or the Federal Records Act." We expect the highest levels of government to at least be held to the standards that we citizens are.
Jeffrey Goldberg has been the ONLY honorable participant in this fiasco, including President Trump.
This is not the kind of incident that we simply "move on" from. The American people demand immediate resignations and firings. Until these incompetent fools are removed from power, our families are not safe.

Dear Mr. (Vrede too):
Thank you for contacting me. I appreciate hearing from you.
On March 24, 2025, The Atlantic magazine wrote an article identifying a group chat used by our nation’s top national security leaders in preparation of the United States’ airstrike on the Ansar Allah, commonly known as the Houthis, for their illegal attacks in the Red Sea.
Like you, I am concerned about any potential instances of the mishandling of classified information by our government. It is imperative that Congress consider improvements to the custody and management of classified records to ensure that classified information is not leaked or misused. I am committed to ensuring that our investigative resources operate in an independent manner free from political considerations, and is able to conduct thorough reviews of any mishandling of classified documents.
I strongly believe Congress has a vital obligation to our men and women in uniform. I will continue to work to secure the necessary resources and capabilities to safeguard our nation’s security and servicemembers.
Thank you again for taking the time to contact me. Please do not hesitate to reach out again about other important issues.
Sincerely,
Thom Tillis
U.S. Senator

Re: Surviving a second Trump admin
I suppose now it's a tossup beween my pick (Wiles) and Lutnick. He's proven to be a real loose cannon. Like there aren't enough of them. I'm gonn stick with Wiles assuming she will not succumb to the crazy. After all, the only thing she can do is offer advice. At the point that advice is being ignored, or even resisted, she's liable to give it up. But Lutnick is not exactly a dark horse.Vrede too wrote: ↑Wed Apr 02, 2025 11:00 amVrede too wrote: ↑Tue Apr 01, 2025 6:42 pmNational Security Advisor Waltz is so far over his head it's almost sad . . . almost. White House Explains Why Russia Not Included in Trump's New Tariffs
"symbolic" just complicates things if sanctions are ever lifted. Plus, if Russia isn't buying US goods there's nothing to retaliate against.... Following Trump's Rose Garden announcement, a White House official told NOTUS' Jasmine Wright that Russia is "not on this list because sanctions from the Ukraine war have already rendered trade between the two countries as zero." ...
The secondary tariffs are an interesting idea. No idea if he's serious about imposing them.

The worst of the worst are making decisions for the country. Most of said decisions appear to be entirely capricious with no planning or forethought of consequences Not quite sure how you'd even begin to correct the course. And we're only two months in.

Re: Surviving a second Trump admin
Trump replacing Powell with a lackey is one of my biggest fears. Luckily he can't legally fire him from my understanding. But we all know Trump doesn't have any respect for laws. I think Powell's term is up in 2026, so that's another concern. From my understanding the nominee has to be on the fed board of directors. Theoretically a president can choose anyone, but there will then be two confirmation processes vs one - 1) appointment to the board, 2) fed chairman.
If Trump somehow gets some spineless dicksucker on the board we are so immensely fucked.

Supposedly the Fed Chair can only be fired for cause. Trump doesn't care, he'll make up a cause or just do it and let the courts battle.Whack9 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 04, 2025 3:03 pmTrump replacing Powell with a lackey is one of my biggest fears.
