As a young pup I totally adored the Kennedys. I had a good spot in the crowd to see the procession go by when Nehru visited. There they were, 30 feet or so away, riding in that open car, waving to the crowd. I thought about that open car after Dallas. We all trusted everything way too much back then. Despite historical precedent, such as Lincoln, nobody ever really thought anybody would shoot the President. I guess we thought we were all to civilized for that sort of stuff. Or maybe residents of Camelot were invincible. In retrospect, it's surprising there aren't more attempts than there are.

Bud Gifford?
.

Any relation to Frank?

Gifford should have made the announcement, Cosell Costello'd it.
Related to both Frank Gifford and to Bud Abbott, like Howard Costello. :D

 I was working in the ND oil patch. We heard it on the radio and kept working. Worked the next day as normal, too. Zero turmoil. My workmates didn't like it when I expressed some pleasure, so I bit my tongue after that.

Joke from a friend a couple of years later: Free John Hinckley, give him another shot at the presidency.
I was once banned from the old LNF for saying that the
worst thing about the Reagan Era was Hinckley's aim.

Well, guns have gotten a lot better since those days. But still, that guy in PA missed. Bad perch, wind, divine intervention (the GQP favorite). I'm just gonna look at it as just one more incompetent operation associated with the trump cult. Hell, if he keeps going this way, somebody may take another shot. But it would turn out to be just dreanged.

True, but he doesn't have the cult following that PINO does.

Maybe the Resistance can afford to hire better assassins now:
Here's how the 10 richest people in the world fared after Trump's tariffs

The world's top 10 richest people saw $74 billion vanish on paper after Trump's tariffs.

Trump's tariffs triggered a huge market sell-off.

Musk lost $11 billion and Bezos nearly $16 billion, per the Bloomberg Billionaire Index....
Zuck lost $17.9 billion.

Knowing that Vance would become president should trump die, I am completely convinced the trump cult would glom onto Vance without hesitation. And I'm sure they would also glom onto Johnson without hesitation should Vance also die. Hell, they'd accept damn near any nutjob as long as he's a true nutjob.

Yeah, they'll probably lose even more between now and whenever they file their income taxes.....I guess they'll all also get massive "refunds" due to their alleged losses.....even though they've not lost anything unless they sell their stuff at the depressed price. So they win either way to one degree or another.
