I think he's eligible for the Geezer Tour next year, if his ego will let him play there.

. He was far to chiseled (can you think of another golfer with a football players body?).
Bryson DeChambeau, but he backed off when it wasn't working so well for him.

He would be a huge boost for the Champions tour. He doesn't need the money, but may enjoy the competition. The fact he can use a cart on that tour would be beneficial for him.

LOL

While this is true, if you enter the souvenir shop on your way out you'll drop at least $300.

Used to, twenty+ years ago. Went to Augusta in 2001.

Augusta built this huge facility for one week of use a year.

That's incredible. I always figured there were minor tournaments and whatnot to keep a club busy. This is like a week of Black Fridays to make the huge investment worth it. What was the admission price? What did you spend $300 on?

Do you pick one golfer and try to follow him from hole to hole? Tiger? Phil? Do some holes get too crowded to see anything? Do people pick one and get there early? Can you carry a camp chair or stool?

What are the people like? I see only Whites a bit older than average in your pics. Is it as Republican as I imagine? There must be a fair bit of downtime. What do y'all talk about?

Spent a full day, my ticket was free. A friend had a relative who was a member which was great because he'd been multiple times and I had a tour guide. Went on a Friday so it was still a full field. Followed Tiger and Phil separately, Fred Couples and more importantly, Jack and Arnold ( in his pink shirt). Had to hit the highlights, Amen Corner of course and the whole back 9 with the Eisenhower tree on 17. On the front nine we hit #1, 3, 7, 8 and 9 for the turn.

Spent a little time with Tom Fazio who had just done a redesign.

No chairs cellphones, etc.allowed, there's bleachers. We stood and walked the whole day. The place is incredible (and an incredible indulgence for the bourgeois), not one single blade of grass out of place, not one weed, all TV equipment, power lines etc. Is buried underground. There's people by every sand trap with whip things to clear any stray sand off the greens after a shot. No $$ spared.

It was easy to drop $300, cause of course I had to buy stuff for friends and relatives too. Caps, visors, club towels, golf vest etc.

Think that bad boy ran me $40, probably double now.

No downtime at all, busy all day talking Augusta and golf!

Thanks. "golf vest"? Ftr:
The 2001 Masters Tournament was the 65th Masters Tournament, held April 5–8 at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia. Tiger Woods won his second Masters and sixth major championship, two strokes ahead of runner-up David Duval.

This championship marked the completion of the "Tiger Slam," with Woods holding all four major titles, having won the U.S. Open, Open Championship, and PGA Championship in 2000. In addition to the four majors, he was also the reigning champion of the Players Championship (March) and the WGC-NEC Invitational (August, second of three consecutive).

This was the first major to award a seven-figure winner's share; the first major with a six-figure winner's share was the 1983 PGA Championship.

Second round

Friday, April 6, 2001

Chris DiMarco added to his one-stroke first round lead with a 69 (-3) to give him a two-stroke lead at 134 (-10) after 36-holes. However, the round was headlined by the owner of last three major championships; Tiger Woods bolted up the leaderboard into a tie for second place with a 66 (-6) [-2, six-way tie for 15th after Round 1]. Phil Mickelson shot a 69 to equal Woods in second place. David Duval who was looking for his first Masters championship after three straight top 10 finishes at Augusta matched Woods's 66, and put himself among five golfers tied for fourth at 137 (-7), which included two-time U.S. Open champion, Lee Janzen. Two-time champion José María Olazábal was among a three-way tie for ninth at 138 (-6). The cut was set at 145 (+1), with notable players Sergio García, Davis Love III, and Thomas Bjørn off for the weekend.
How to get Masters tickets in 2025: Latest prices and where to buy them
The Masters is a coveted ticket thanks to its lottery system that's open to all fans. Here's an update on prices ahead of the 2025 tournament

Updated April 4, 2025

If you're still looking for tickets to the 2025 Masters (April 10 - April 13), one piece of advice: good luck and be prepared to pay a lot....

The lottery deadline has come and gone, with this year's lucky winners awarded one of the most sought-after tickets in sports. But there are still avenues to attend the 2025 Masters through the secondary ticket market ahead of Thursday's first-round action, despite warnings from Augusta National Golf Club officials about the resale of its tickets.

Masters tickets 2025: Face value, price, where to buy them

The lucky fans awarded 2025 Masters tickets through the tournament's lottery will pay a reasonable price to get inside Augusta National Golf Club. Tickets for practice rounds on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday cost lottery winners $100. Tickets for tournament rounds on Thursday through Sunday are $140 at face value. Those with a Masters series badge ‒ a coveted item that gives its owner annual access to all four rounds ‒ pay just $450.
That's not bad. The big money must come from TV and merch.
But those attempting to buy tickets through secondary markets like Stubhub will have to pay a premium and there's limited inventory. A weekly badge for Monday through Friday cost $22,646 on Stubhub one week out from the start of opening-round action.

The cheapest ticket for Monday's practice round was $1,235 as of Thursday, April 3. A ticket to Tuesday's practice round was more expensive at a minimum listed price of $1,948 on Stubhub.
Too late now.
A ticket to Wednesday's practice round, featuring the annual Par-3 contest, cost $1,976 and upwards.

A two-day pass for Thursday's first round and Friday's second round cost at least $8,967, while a two-day pass for the weekend's final two rounds cost $6,423 as of April 3. A four-day pass cost at least $13,224. A ticket just for Sunday's final round cost more than $2,600 on Stubhub.
Wow.
But be mindful when buying that Augusta National, Inc. is the only authorized seller of Masters tickets and does not allow the resale of tickets. The company warns on its website that "holders of tickets acquired from third parties, by whatever means, may be excluded from attendance to the Tournament."
I wonder how enforcement works. Is "gifting" tix legit, or is that included in "by whatever means"? If okay, that's the cover story.

Thanks. What would a ticket have cost? "golf vest"? Ftr:

Tickets could be had back then for a couple hundred bucks. Bet it's a bunch more now. I knew a guy that went every year, he said the best way to get in was waiting until your day and just scoring them outside the gate.

Going to Augusta is sort of funny, you think of it as a pristine environment in a pristine area. The entrance is actually off a commercial avenue with strip centers across the street.

I edited out my question and edited in current tix/TV info while you were posting.

My childhood huge housing development abutted a nice golf course. The 2 highrises were feet away from the fence and the entrance was also off a major commercial avenue with strip centers and larger shopping centers everywhere. I lived in a garden apartment and then a townhouse. No views of the golf course, but we sneaked onto it all the time.
