It's the economy, stupid.

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Everyone knows there's a brainless petulant child piloting the plane.

He could slap on new tariffs tomorrow for some perceived slight.

The markets hate instability.
Do tell.

Trump admin already walks back smartphone, laptop tariff exemption

Lol man, this administration is so incompetent. In no world is this see-sawing if tariffs a winning strategy that shows strength. I'm almost inclined to think this administration is trolling it's own dumb fuck supporters and showing the world "see, we can kick them in the face, shove their noses in shit, and they'll still follow us loyally like the dogs that they are"

Trump considers pausing his auto tariffs as the world economy endures whiplash

... The statement hinted at yet another round of reversals on tariffs as Trump's onslaught of import taxes has panicked financial markets and raised deep concerns from Wall Street economists about a possible recession.

When Trump announced the 25% auto tariffs on March 27, he described them as “permanent.” His hard lines on trade have become increasingly blurred as he has sought to limit the possible economic and political blowback from his policies.
:---P
“I don’t change my mind, but I’m flexible,” Trump said Monday.
For example, he's flexible with the truth about changing his mind.
Trump's flexibility has also fueled a sense of uncertainty and confusion about his intentions and end goals. The S&P 500 stock index was up slightly in Monday afternoon trading, but it's still down nearly 9% this year. Interest rates on 10-year U.S. Treasury notes were also elevated at roughly 4.4%.

Carl Tannenbaum, chief economist for the Northern Trust global financial firm, said the whiplash had been so great that he might have to “get fitted for a neck brace.”
:D
Tannenbaum warned in an analysis: “Damage to consumer, business, and market confidence may already be irreversible.” ...
:(
DonOLD negotiating strategy: Tell the world to wait a week and the negotiating strategy will change. :angry-banghead:

The S&P 500 stock index is down for the day, down for the past month and down for 2025:

The markets may be in a holding pattern as the stupid and the flip flopping whiplash continues....until something concrete actually happens.

I read an article discussing how the Trump admin are currently interviewing replacements for Powell. Whether or not he plans on firing him, or if it's just to replace him in 2006 I do not know. Regardless, his pick is likely to be another lackey.

I think the most similar scenario we've got the possibility of finding ourselves in is Argentina ~2001. USD was a popular hedge against runaway inflation then. I wonder if euros or some other currency would work similarly if the USD slides to unprecedented levels

I think it was suggested by DeSantis that part-time high schoolers could fill the shortage once the brown people are gone.

:D
Ah. "Victimhood is a disease." It looks like he came down with a bad case of it, with advanced symptoms of whining, begging for help, with a side of groveling and "how could you do this to me?" Maybe he should start pulling himself up again with those bootstraps he's so proud of.
Right? Why would he go against the most brilliant economic and political mind the planet has ever seen? Seems counterproductive to actively speak out against Trump. Just bootstrap and adjust…DON’T BE A VICTIM.
He still supports him. I have zero sympathy and would NEVER buy one thing from him.
It's the knee bending supplication and subservience for me.
Go to his Instagram and look at the comments he’s getting chewed alive. It’s Cuts clothing.
He's getting roasted on Twitter too.

I’m sure he can just move his clothing production stateside, right? Right??
“I humbly ask that you take this seriously.” 🤡 🤣
BTW, in the comments there are also MAGAs discovering the beauty of socialism. “Bootstraps” right?

Image

"bonuses for built on time and or under budget"....

DEFINITELY no loopholes there 🙄🤫🤥
But remember, Harris’ plan to subsidize new homeowners was socialism and inflation 🤨
Hey, guess who ran on a campaign of exactly that?

The person you voted against.
Helping people isn’t in the maga handbook.
"Victimhood is a disease" says a sycophant of the most perpetual whining victim the world has ever seen.
