One segment looks into witches in 1500's. Very clearly repugs are treating trans people just like they treated witches then except they haven't hung or burned any yet as far as I know. Same language, same accusations, same associations with evil yada.
Good show.

Maybe the "witches" should have fought back.
Lawmakers Just Proposed Making It Illegal For Men To Have Unprotected Sex Unless They Intend To Make A Baby, And YES, This Is REAL

It’s a ballsy move, but two Ohio State Representatives have introduced a bill that would make it illegal for men to have unprotected sex if it’s not intended to make a baby.

If the “Conception Begins at Erection Act” passes, men in Ohio could be charged with a felony if they “discharge genetic material” without intending to get a woman pregnant.

However, the bill does provide exceptions if the male partner uses protection or contraception, masturbates on their own, donates sperm, or is a member of the LGBTQ+ community.

Think it sounds nutty? You’ll get no arguments from Rep. Anita Somani, who co-sponsored the bill with fellow Democrat Tristan Rader.

In an editorial for the Columbus Dispatch, Somani, a gynecologist, admitted she knows “how ludicrous my sounds” but said that was the point.

“Is my bill offensive because it dares to attack men? Maybe, but again, as an OB/GYN, I’m against regulating anyone’s reproductive rights,” she said. Those decisions, she argued, ”should be between the patient and the physician without criminal penalties being built into bills conservative organizations are promoting across the country.”

... “Men can go to any state in the United States and have the same rights no matter where they are,” Somani added....

“We shouldn’t be penalizing reproductive care for anybody, and that, again, is why we have the felony piece of this bill,” Somani said.

When Your Home State Also Becomes Your Abuser
The leading cause of death for pregnant women is homicide, most often by an abusive partner with a gun. And Texas is forcing victims to stay pregnant, while making it easier for abusers to get guns.

Trump Pulls Research Funding To Protect Pregnant Women From Domestic Violence, Citing ‘DEI’
Homicide by an abusive partner is the leading cause of death for pregnant women in the U.S. – and researchers are gutted by the sudden cuts.

The Trump administration abruptly pulled funding last week for a research grant meant to protect pregnant women from domestic violence because it was categorized as a “DEI” study.

The National Institute of Health grant funded a two-year project to create a training program for early career clinicians to measure intimate partner violence and pregnancy. The leading cause of death among pregnant and postpartum women in the U.S. is homicide by an abusive partner. Perinatal women are more than twice as likely to be murdered than to die from sepsis, hypertensive disorders or hemorrhage.

The grant was awarded last September after hundreds of hours of work from researchers, scientists and other staff, including some NIH grant officers, three of the four lead researchers told HuffPost. The goal was to create a three-day hybrid training program for OB-GYNs, public health researchers and other clinicians across the country to help spot and measure the correlation between domestic violence and pregnancy.

President Donald Trump has pledged to protect women, and yet research that could go on to save the lives of thousands of pregnant women and mothers has been unceremoniously cut. The move is particularly confounding given that Trump’s conservative Supreme Court repealed federal abortion protections, leading to nearly 20 states enacting abortion bans and forcing more people to stay pregnant.

With more pregnant women in the U.S. and maternal mortality rates on the rise, this research is arguably more important than ever. But it was caught up in the Trump administration’s broader campaign to slash all federal initiatives for diversity, equity and inclusion.
:angry-banghead:
... Sarah Peitzmeier, the third researcher who spoke with HuffPost, pointed out that domestic violence during pregnancy is linked to often larger, more costly infant and maternal health issues.

“We know intimate partner violence during pregnancy is linked to miscarriage, hemorrhage, placental disruption and postpartum depression. It’s also linked to negative infant outcomes, preterm birth, low birth weight,” Peitzmeier said. “These are really non-partisan issues that everyone should care about.”

“And these are expensive issues, too,” Metheny added. “These are things that cost the American taxpayer millions and millions and millions of dollars a year. By going to the source and the root problem, which sometimes is IPV [intimate partner violence], then this is one way to actually decrease unnecessary health care costs and improve the health of pregnant people.”

An estimated 324,000 pregnant people are abused each year by an intimate partner, and that number is likely to increase as more people stay pregnant after the fall of Roe v. Wade. Since the landmark Supreme Court decision, calls to the National Domestic Violence Hotline about reproductive coercion ― a form of intimate partner violence specific to pregnancy and reproductive health ― have doubled across the country.

Researchers in a 2024 study found that there’s “a dire need for universal screening and interventions,” after concluding that pregnant women are more likely to be murdered by an abusive partner if they live in a state where abortion is restricted....

Y'all need training to recognize this, that's really sad. :wtf:
You do know that people like this are products of liberal thinking, do what the hell they want without consequences. Which is also sad, you don't need a training program to recognize & measure that.

Shannon Sharpe’s decision to date a woman over 30 years his junior has come back to bite him, according to fans of Mo’Nique, who’ve shared a resurfaced clip from their 2024 Club Shay Shay interview where she warns him about dating “young bi*ches.”

The clip went viral — again — after it was revealed that Sharpe’s current sexual assault accuser met the former NFL star, 56, in 2023 at the age of 22.

“You better take your old a** and get somebody to love you,” Mo, 57, tells Sharpe in the clip, adding that he needs an “old gal” that can cook, is willing to rub his feet, and will support him beyond reaping the benefits of his bank account.

“You don’t need no 26-year-old girl, you don’t need no 36-year-old girl…take your old a** and get you an old bi*ch out there that can love you old,” she went on. “You trying to hang out with these young bi*ches, you can’t do it Shannon, you just can’t do it!”

Sharpe is currently being sued for $50M by an ex-girlfriend now accusing him of assault, sexual assault, battery, and sexual battery, in addition to the intentional infliction of emotional distress. While she filed the Nevada suit as a Jane Doe, Sharpe and his legal team revealed her to be OnlyFans model Gabriella ‘Gabbi’ Zuniga.

Brain-dead Georgia woman put on life support for 3 months to carry fetus to birth against family’s wishes

... More than three months later, Smith is still on life support, and the family says they weren’t given any options for her care because of the state’s heartbeat law, which outlaws abortions after the detection of a fetal heartbeat, which usually takes place after around six weeks of pregnancy.
:bs: :bs: :bs: Allowing a woman (and her embryo/fetus) to die with dignity is NOT an abortion!
“It’s torture for me. I come here, and I see my daughter breathing on a ventilator, but she’s not there,” Newkirk said.
Governor Brian Kemp (R) and the Leg RepuQs should be charged with abuse of a body.
... The health of the unborn child remains unclear, 21 weeks into the pregnancy. Smith was moved to another hospital, Emory Midtown, on Tuesday. Doctors told the family it's better equipped for the care she needs. The plan is for Smith to remain on life support until the child can live outside the womb, likely at about 32 weeks of pregnancy.

“She’s pregnant with my grandson, but my grandson may be blind, may not be able to walk, wheelchair-bound. We don’t know if he’ll live once she has him,” Newkirk said, according to WXIA. “It should have been left up to the family.”

... “This decision should’ve been left to us. Now we’re left wondering what kind of life he’ll have—and we’re going to be the ones raising him," she added, according to 11Alive.

The family is also concerned about the financial ramifications, as the medical bills keep piling up.

“They’re hoping to get the baby to at least 32 weeks,” said Newkirk. “But every day that goes by, it’s more cost, more trauma, more questions.”
Send the bills to Governor Kemp and the misogynist Leg RepuQs, for life if necessary.

Ah.
The Supreme Court preserved convenient access to mifepristone last year, throwing out a lawsuit that sought to reinstate the previous requirements. The justices’ argument, however, largely hinged on questioning the physician plaintiffs’ right to sue the FDA to restore conditions rather than the substance of the case.

It gets worse:
Trump administration scraps Biden-era policy on emergency abortions

Image

U.S. President Donald Trump's administration on Tuesday rescinded guidance issued during his Democratic predecessor Joe Biden's tenure requiring hospitals to provide abortions to women in medical emergencies regardless of various state bans on the procedure.

The U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services said the 2022 guidance, which interpreted a federal law that ensures patients can receive emergency "stabilizing care" as preempting state abortion bans, did not reflect the policy of the Trump administration.
:wtf: Women will die.
The 2022 guidance reminded healthcare providers across the country of their obligations under a 1986 federal law called the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) to ensure Medicare-participating hospitals offer emergency care stabilizing patients regardless of their ability to pay....

The 2022 guidance aimed to make clear that under EMTALA, physicians must provide a woman an abortion if needed to resolve a medical emergency and stabilize the patient even in states where the procedure is banned and that the federal law preempted any state laws that offer no exceptions for medical emergencies....

Texas hospital that discharged woman with doomed pregnancy violated the law, a federal inquiry finds

A Texas hospital that repeatedly sent a woman who was bleeding and in pain home without ending her nonviable, life-threatening pregnancy violated the law, according to a newly released federal investigation.

The government's findings, which have not been previously reported, were a small victory for 36-year-old Kyleigh Thurman, who ultimately lost part of her reproductive system after being discharged without any help from her hometown emergency room for her dangerous ectopic pregnancy....
 The article does not mention penalties. It may be up to Thurman, using these findings as evidence, to sue for damages.

Trump Still Has An Anti-Abortion Agenda. It’s Just Sneakier Than Before.
There's been a great deal of chaos in Trump’s first 100 days — and it's allowed for his attack on reproductive health to go under the radar.

(lots of varied ugliness)

... “President Trump has spent these first 100 days making it more dangerous to be pregnant in the United States, stacking every wing of his administration with anti-abortion extremists ready and willing to do his bidding,” Shannon Russell, federal policy counsel at the Center for Reproductive Rights, told reporters in a Monday press call.

“Individually, these officials have great power,” Russell said. “Together, they’ll do long-lasting damage to our democracy and threaten people’s reproductive freedoms.”

Riley Gaines Fires Back At Simone Biles And Her 'Internalized Misogyny'

I mean, she got her medals. The rest of you ladies are on your own, according to Simone.

"Yesterday, Simone Biles — the Olympic gymnast, the best of the best, bar none; there is no one even remotely in her league — I guess, in an attempt to be inclusive and virtuous, decided to sell out all girls who have dreams to achieve and to succeed, and to specifically personally attack and body shame me."

Gaines then ran through Biles' post which was pretty wild and included a self-own in which she noted that a trans-only category — read: not letting fellas compete against women and girls — was a solution, and a final line in which she claimed that "no one in sports" was safe with Gaines around.

It also included a line about how Gaines should be "uplifting" transgender athletes.

"Let's get this straight. It's my job. It's the women's job," the host of the Gaines for Girls podcast said. "This is what Simone Biles is saying: It's the women's job to find a way for the men's feelings to be validated, for their identity to be affirmed. That's not my job, actually, at all. So to say I should be doing this is insane.

"If she (Biles) wants to use her platform to uplift men and women's sports, then, by all means, but it's certainly not my job. And I don't believe it's the job of any woman to do this."

In a second post, Biles told Gaines to "bully someone your own size, which would ironically be a male."

"Number one, she's acknowledging there are differences, like physiological, biological differences, between men and women in saying this," Gaines said, highlighting a sweet irony that clearly flew over Biles' head. "Secondly, I'm 5-foot-5, which might seem like a giant to someone who's like, 4-foot-7, 4-foot-8, but I'm pretty standard size for a woman, just, like, relatively muscular, right? Being an athlete, I would imagine Simone would understand that.

"But I weigh like 135 pounds, 5-foot-5 of pretty much pure muscle. Again, if anyone would understand that, you would think it's Simone Biles, a woman who has historically been scrutinized for having a very muscular, masculine-looking body."

Gaines did commend Biles for calling out the atrocities committed by sexual predator Larry Nassar, but noted an unsettling contradiction.

"This is a woman who has been incredibly brave in calling out and witnessing the horrific sexual abuse that she and hundreds of other female gymnasts faced at the hands of one sexual predator — that predator being Larry Nassar — in the same breath, believing that vulnerable women should be forced to strip down naked in front of men and locker rooms, so long as it makes the man feel happy," Gaines said. "If Larry Nassar came out as trans, I don't think it's responsible or safe for him to be housed in a women's prison."

Gaines went on to note how "if Simone's inclusive dream came true, she would have zero Olympic medals and no one would even know who she is," and how Biles had "pulled up the ladder" behind her like others, including Megan Rapinoe. Neither will have to compete against men, but are OK with other women and girls having to do so.

"Simone Biles, having internalized misogyny and being a male apologist, was certainly not on my 2025 bingo card," Gaines said.

On Dobbs anniversary, Mass. pols warn of attack on abortion rights in Trump’s ‘Big Beautiful Bill’

... Language tucked into President Donald Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” would ban insurance plans offered under the Affordable Care Act from covering abortion care in certain states, according to an analysis by the National Women’s Law Center.

It also would effectively defund Planned Parenthood by blocking Medicaid reimbursements to the reproductive health organization, which also offers screenings for cancer and sexually transmitted infections and access to contraception among its services, Lee said Monday.

Of the 30,000 patients that Planned Parenthood serves statewide in Massachusetts, about 40% are on Medicaid. If Trump signs it in its current form, the bill would “wipe out” nearly half of Planned Parenthood’s revenue, Lee said.

“It would block thousands from care,” Lee said. “And still, they push forward, because the cruelty isn’t just part of the policy, it is the policy.”

... In Massachusetts, the bill would cost the state’s health care system $1.75 billion and strip coverage for about 250,000 people, according to the (Gov) Healey administration.

The results would be disastrous for Planned Parenthood and public health broadly, Clark and her colleagues warned.

" It would defund cancer screenings and prenatal care, postpartum services, fertility treatment, and preventative care. Ninety-six percent of Planned Parenthood’s clinical work has nothing to do with abortion," Clark, the No. 2 Democrat in the House, said.

“That’s right. And Republicans know that there have been no federal dollars in decades going to provide abortion services. But that hasn’t stopped them from doing everything they need to do to take away healthcare from millions of women,” Clark continued.

Warren painted a similarly dire picture.

“Thirteen states now have an all-out ban on abortion,” the Cambridge lawmaker said. “Women are being forced to carry doomed pregnancies to term, [and] more are forced to miscarry in parking lots, so they will be closer to death.”

“ ... Republicans in Congress are now trying to pass a bill that would rip healthcare coverage away from 16 million people so that they can give trillions of dollars in tax giveaways to billionaires and billionaire corporations right here in New England,” Warren continued....

" We’re going to talk about this," Warren said. We’re going to get them face to face and make sure they understand ... that if they vote to advance this bill the way it is written now, then they are going to cost the lives of the people that they have been elected to represent," she said....

" States aren’t gonna have a lot of options if you are asked to absorb the Medicaid cuts,“ Clark said,

”The food program cuts public school cuts, veterans benefits cuts — states do not have that ability and flexibility," she said, referring to other social services cuts in the bill. “They need a partner in the federal government.”
