"Highland Park parade mass shooter Robert Crimo sentenced to life without parole"
https://www.yahoo.com/news/highland-par ... 38170.html
Guessing he changed his plea to guilty to get some sort of prison consideration.
May he rot in hell.
And we never have to mention his name again.
2-years-old and he knew to find cover and a caring family. Let's hope his memories fade.... Dana Rudder Ring attended the parade with her husband and three young children and described the scene of “utter chaos” that broke out when the gunfire erupted.
She and her family fled to an underground garage over broken glass and amid the terrified screams of the parade crowd. They encountered a young boy who was “covered in blood," Ring said through tears. After attempting to find his parents, Ring brought him to her in-laws' home, where they cleaned him and waited for police.
That night, officers picked up the boy to reunite him with his family. Ring eventually discovered that the young boy was 2-year-old Aiden McCarthy, whose parents, Kevin and Irina, were both killed in the attack.
This is a failure of our gun laws. What happened in the Highland Park shooting?
... Crimo had a history of erratic behavior and had been visited twice by police in the years before the attack, including in 2019 when authorities confiscated several knives because Crimo had threatened to "kill everyone" in his house. The rifle he used in the shooting was legally purchased.
His father, Robert Crimo Jr., pleaded guilty in November 2023 to seven counts of reckless conduct and was sentenced to 60 days in jail and 100 hours of community service for agreeing to sponsor his son’s gun license application.

I've got four easy questions for you. No tricks involved:Supsalemgr wrote: ↑Fri Apr 25, 2025 6:17 am
Yeah. I guess we should pass laws to outlaw deranged guns.
1. Why do we have any laws?
2. If a law can't be 100% enforced, is it worth having?
3. Are there any examples of laws with 100% compliance?
4. Should fentanyl be legally and readily available for all since it's the person, not the drug, that causes damage?

Yeah. I guess we should pass laws to outlaw deranged guns.
1. Why do we have any laws? Irrelevant to the point.
2. If a law can't be 100% enforced, is it worth having? Depends on how it might be enforced.
3. Are there any examples of laws with 100% compliance? Not that I am aware of.
4. Should fentanyl be legally and readily available for all since it's the person, not the drug, that causes damage? Absolutely not.

Re: Mass Shootings
I would be impossible to have a society with twice as many guns as people and expect to have laws controlling only the actions of people. There are several reasons for this, not the least of which is that a large number of shootings aren't by criminals or mentally "deranged", but by pissed off people who have easy access to dangerous weapons. So a guy with no former criminal record but a legal gun in his car goes off to work with no expectation whatsoever of committing murder finds himself in a road rage incident and chooses to shoot instead of driving away. No, you're not going to prevent that by having laws against shooting people. Further, in the case of the perpetually pissed off violent person, you can't do much to prevent him from shooting somebody until he has shot them. Thus the conundrum of the pro-gun people - "Oh, we don't want to limit access to guns; 2nd Amendment and all that." "Oh more laws wouldn't have prevented that guy in the school...' So the result is doing nothing past the occasional "harummph" and thoughts and prayers and throwing up red herrings and "whuddabouts" at every suggestion.Supsalemgr wrote: ↑Fri Apr 25, 2025 10:36 amO Really wrote: ↑Fri Apr 25, 2025 10:29 amI've got four easy questions for you. It's a complex problem, but the path to solutions is clear and irrefutable: you can control the people or you can control the weapons. There are no other solutions, but there are worldwide examples of how to get there.
And BTW, I don't think fentanyl should be legally and readily available to all either, but if one actually believes "guns don't kill, people do" then one can't avoid the equal truth that "fentanyl doesn't kill, users do"

Re: Mass Shootings
Anyone convicted, like the Highland Park shooter, is deemed legally NOT "deranged". MAGA ignorance of the fundamentals of Civics and our justice system is astounding.
The question remains - Why does MAGA want to heavily arm the deranged and people it thinks are "deranged"? And, if "deranged" is such a serious problem, why does MAGA consistently slash mental health funding?
Finally, why does MAGA always act so weak and helpless when we know that EVERY non-war zone developed nation achieves a much lower murder and injury rate with sensible gun control measures?
