Unique Phenomenon at Kīlauea Volcano
I'm sure they've been thought of in the comments - Volcanado, Volcornado, Lavanado, Lavornado, Torano
Biscuit Basin Explosion
I've been there. It did not explode.

Re: Volcanoes
I was on the USS Kilauea for two years. Always thought it was weird that most of the ammunition ships had names of volcanoes or other fire related terms....Pyro, Mauna Loa, Vesuvius. There was a big "E" on the sides of the ship's bow that signified explosive and also stay the hell away.

Re: Volcanoes
Kilauea has been erupting pretty steadily the past few years. I only was in HI twice; the second time I didn't even leave the ship. The scenery and climate are a lot like the Philippines. And HI was/is too expensive. But I will say that being on Kilauea was like a pleasure cruise compared to the little destroyer escort I had been on. We had two of those big double rotor helicopters and sometimes on Sundays I'd be able to go up in one and take photos of the ship while at sea.Vrede too wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2026 8:50 pmYou were remarkably restrained.neoplacebo wrote: ↑Tue Nov 25, 2025 8:35 pmI was on the USS Kilauea for two years. Sometimes, volcanoes are more than locally destructive.
