His brother is retired SCOTUS justice Stephen Breyer. Can't call him rogue.

I'll bet that the Ninth Circuit backs him up. SCOTUS? -0-? It's a pretty radical move that TACO DonOLD made.

Trump Regains Control Of Troops In L.A. From Newsom Thanks To Appeals Court; Governor Was To Take Command Of National Guard On Friday – Updated

Unlucky draw:
... “The request for an administrative stay is GRANTED,” the court wrote in a short order tonight after the White House and DOJ came up short this afternoon in their bid to maintain a hold on the unrequested and widely seen as unnecassary troop deployment. “The district court’s June 12 temporary restraining order is temporarily stayed pending further order,” a three-judge panel of two Trump appointees and one Joe Biden appointee said.
:problem:
... Not for the first time, Newsom took aim at Trump’s claims that L.A. was going to erupt in rioting and chaos if he hadn’t taken over the Guard and called them up as ICE protection. “This is what Donald Trump does,” the two-term Democrat and potential 2028 White House contender added. “He creates a problem — and then he tries to be a hero in his own Marvel movie. I would call it pathetic if it wasn’t so dangerous.”
“We are not going away,” Noem said at the same L.A. press conference where federal agents shockingly assaulted Sen. Alex Padilla, handcuffed and dragged him away for trying to ask the DHS chief a question. “We are staying here to liberate this city from the socialist and the burdensome leadership that this governor and that this mayor placed on this country and what they have tried to insert into this city,” Noem added with a reference to California and L.A.’s “sanctuary” policies that prevent state and civic participation in federal immigration raids and detentions.
Umm, Friendly Fire Barbie, YOU are the "socialist" by your own admission seeking to force an unfunded mandate upon local government. Logic much?
Also, Thursday LA Mayor Karen Bass gave much more heated remarks than is usual for the circumspect politician in talking about the continued ICE rounding up of residents and the 4,000 Guard troops and 700 Marines on the streets in and around federal buildings and more. “No matter what happens out of the White House,” the much Trump attacked Bass said today, as DTLA went under another night of dusk-to-dawn curfew. “We will always uphold and reflect what Los Angeles and the United States are truly about: freedom, tolerance and, for God’s sake, our Constitution.”

Almost as fast on the social media draw as Trump, Newsom went online soon after the order landed on the federal court docket. “The court just confirmed what we all know — the military belongs on the battlefield, not on our city streets,” the Governor posted with a copy of the order. “This win is not just for California, but the nation,” he said in his post. “It’s a check on a man whose authoritarian tendencies are increasing by the day. End the illegal militarization of Los Angeles now, @realDonaldTrump History is watching.” ...

Wannabe fascist:
Missouri governor activates National Guard, declares state of emergency

Missouri Gov. Mike Kehoe (R) on Thursday declared a state of emergency and activated the state’s National Guard in anticipation of protests across the state — and in response to “civil unrest” across the country....
 Chicken Little.
‘Blatant attempt to intimidate and suppress First Amendment rights’

Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas’ Office shared a statement Thursday regarding the mayor’s concerns about Gov. Kehoe’s decision.

“Mayor Lucas is concerned with enhanced state enforcement for one set of protestors, but no action or aid to local law enforcement when Neo-Nazis march through Missouri’s urban streets,” the statement reads. “The Mayor has confidence in responsible protestors to use their First Amendment rights peacefully and in compliance with the law. More than one thousand Kansas Citians protested peacefully and responsibly just days ago.”

“For those who do not act responsibly, the Mayor stands by the women and men of local law enforcement at KCPD and other agencies to handle any necessary enforcement actions,” it continues. “Unnecessary escalation from our nation’s capital and state capitals undermines local law enforcement and makes all less safe.”

Missouri House Minority Leader Ashley Aune (D-Kansas City) also responded Thursday, saying the governor’s actions are unwarranted:

“Governor Kehoe’s preemptive declaration of a state of emergency as Missourians prepare to protest an increasingly authoritarian presidential administration is a blatant attempt to intimidate and suppress First Amendment rights,” she wrote in a statement.

“The protests planned this weekend across Missouri and throughout the nation were sparked by the president’s unwarranted and heavy-handed military response to opposition to his policies,” the state lawmaker added. “By doing the same, the governor will only heighten tensions and increase the possibility of conflict. Governor Kehoe should staunchly defend the rights of Missourians, not mimic the authoritarianism of the president.”

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) too condemned the governor’s actions, calling it an “unnecessary provocation.”

... In addition to protests nationwide, activists are also planning “No Kings” events across the country Saturday to coincide with the president’s planned military parade in Washington.

In Kansas City, a “No Kings Rally” will be held Saturday at the Country Club Plaza from noon to 3 p.m.
Texas has also readied roughly 5,000 National Guard troops ahead of expected protests.

An actual fascist:
Florida sheriff tells protesters ahead of anti-Trump rally: ‘We will kill you’

Sheriff Wayne Ivey, a Republican, echoed President Trump’s recent Truth Social post in which he said of Los Angeles protesters, “If they spit, we will hit.”

A Florida sheriff shockingly vowed to “kill” protesters who threaten or commit violence against law enforcement officers ahead of a scheduled rally in opposition to President Donald Trump and his administration on Saturday.

“We’re not going to play,” said Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey during a Thursday news conference just days before the nationwide “No Kings” protests happening Saturday....

“If you resist lawful orders, you’re going to jail…If you block an intersection or a roadway in Brevard County, you are going to jail. If you flee arrest, you’re going to go to jail tired because we’re going to run you down and put you in jail,” said Ivey, who has served as the county sheriff since 2013. He continued, “If you try to mob rule a car in Brevard County, gathering around it, refusing to let the driver leave, in our county, you’re most likely going to get run over and dragged across the street.”

Ivey’s rhetoric escalated as he continued to list off hypothetical scenarios that could take place on Saturday.

“If you spit on us, you’re going to the hospital and in jail. If you hit one of us, you’re going to the hospital and jail. And most likely get bitten by one of our big beautiful dogs that we have here,” he added. “If you throw a brick, a firebomb or point of gun at one of our deputies, notifying your family were to collect your remains at. Because we will kill you, graveyard dead. We’re not going to play.”

Sheriff Ivey, a Republican and Trump supporter, echoed the president’s recent Truth Social post in which he said of Los Angeles protesters, “If they spit, we will hit.” Trump has notably endorsed police “immunity” and ordered his administration to end federal probes into police misconduct.
MAGAts gone wild.
“This kind of language is not only reckless — it’s dangerous. When law enforcement officials, especially those in positions of power, use phrases like ‘kill you graveyard dead,’ they’re not promoting safety — they’re inciting fear and violence,” Florida State Senator Shevrin Jones told theGrio in reaction to Sheriff Ivey’s remarks.

“Let’s be clear: the right to protest is foundational to our democracy. Threatening protestors with death because they challenge injustice is exactly the type of authoritarianism our Constitution protects us from,” Jones added. “Florida deserves leaders who de-escalate tensions, not inflame them. We need accountability, not aggression.”

Nearly 2,000 “No King” rallies are expected around the country, where demonstrators will take to the streets to denounce President Trump’s policies and his decision to hold a first-of-its-kind military parade in Washington, D.C.

“On June 14—Flag Day—President Trump wants tanks in the street and a made-for-TV display of dominance for his birthday. A spectacle meant to look like strength,” says the “No King” rally’s official website. It explained, “No Kings is a nationwide day of defiance. From city blocks to small towns, from courthouse steps to community parks, we’re taking action to reject authoritarianism—and show the world what democracy really looks like.”

It adds, “The flag doesn’t belong to President Trump. It belongs to us…we’re showing up everywhere he isn’t—to say no thrones, no crowns, no kings.”

NBC7 doesn't cover the pro-Trump demo.
Thousands of people participate in ‘No Kings' protests across San Diego County
"It was encouraging to see so many people gather peacefully today," San Diego Police Chief Scott Wahl said. "We're grateful to everyone who helped make these events safe for our city."

... San Diego hosted two major rallies for No Kings Day. One kicked off at 10 a.m. at Civic Center Plaza, 1200 Third Ave., while the other took place at Waterfront Park, 1600 Pacific Highway. The two groups merged in front of the county building at Waterfront Park, forming a crowd estimated as high as 60,000 people ...

In Carlsbad, police estimated their crowds to be between 2,500 and 3,000.

No arrests were made, there were no reports of property damage or injuries related to the protests, and all roads were open, police said....
Carlsbad = Hooterville, roughly.

I can't find the pro-Trump demo on FOX5, or in the Times of SD or Trib, either. Is it a Lincoln Project joke?

Trump’s Military Birthday Parade Was a Gross Failure

:laughing-rolling:

The WH spin should be interesting.
We are not pathetic!
When the TV broadcast showed the crowd risers along the parade route, they were sparsely filled. The National Park Service issued permits for 250,000 people for the National Mall festival and the military parade. An aerial parade of historic military aircraft flew above the National Mall, traversing a course from the Lincoln Memorial to the Washington Memorial that — despite clear anticipation of crowds by event organizers — was more empty field and food truck line than crowd.

The made-for-TV military parade looked expensive — but not necessarily impressive. Meanwhile, millions of people reportedly participated in “No Kings” parades Saturday across the country.

:D Yes, they are:
'Where's everybody going?' Confusion as 'hordes' of people exit Trump talk early

... "Overall this was a pretty listless and low-energy parade and crowd. People wearing Trump paraphernalia far outnumbered those wearing Army hats and shirts from what I could see."

He added, "There were no speakers along the parade route, so spectators couldn’t hear whatever was being broadcast by the announcers closer to the reviewing stand. People are now flooding across Constitution Avenue at 18th Street to leave."

White House correspondent Shawn McCreesh also provided an update. Before Trump or JD Vance had even started to speak, the reporter wrote, "Hordes of people are streaming east across the mall to leave."

“'Where’s everybody going?' one man next to me just wondered aloud," the reporter added.
