Today the Indiana Fever were without their head coach (personal reasons), best player (Caitlin Clark) and top reserve (Sophie Cunningham) - and they still whupped Chicago by 27 points. The game was in Chicago, too.

Angel Reese had just 4 points on 2-for-7 shooting.

I’d be shocked if the Chicago coach isn’t fired by the 12th game.

Here’s a video from last year of Angel Reese saying people are watching the WNBA now because of her - not just Caitlin Clark.

https://youtu.be/DPVeeH8mWpQ?si=N2pDCUNfmaG8FLoS

Saturday’s Chicago home game against Indiana was moved to the 20,000-seat United Center in anticipation of another chapter in the Caitlin Clark-Angel Reese “rivalry.” Unfortunately, Clark was out injured with a quad strain.

Get this: Tickets for the game plunged to a low of $3!

Angel may have been mistaken.
So Jasmine, IIRC, you were a WNBA fan before Caitlin, right? Have you seen any increase in interest or fandom for WNBA teams overall, or just interest in the Caitlin story?

When the league started in 1997, I was really into it, mostly because I was a big fan of the 1996 Olympic team that won gold. They had players like Lisa Leslie, Sheryl Swoopes, Dawn Staley, Teresa Edwards and Jennifer Azzi.

My interest in the WNBA dwindled over the years, but Caitlin Clark definitely brought me back. I watched almost every Indiana Fever game last season.

In my opinion, Caitlin Clark single-handedly sparked a new interest in the league. But there was also a residual effect. As more people watched, the more we realized how good players like A’ja Wilson, Sabrina Ionescu Breanna Stewart and Kelsey Plum really are.

I expect the league to continue to get more interest, with new talents like Paige Bueckers, Sonia Citron and Kiki Iriafen.

And just wait till Juju Watkins joins the league!!!

When Caitlin made those three-point bombs on three consecutive possessions (38-second span) I almost jumped out of my chair!

Also, kudos to Angel Reese, who recorded a triple-double today!

WNBA All-Stars Make Statement With Warmup Shirts Over CBA
Players wore shirts reading “Pay us what you owe us” during warmups for the All-Star game.

All of the players on Team Clark and Team Collier warmed up for Saturday night’s WNBA All-Star Game in shirts that read “Pay us what you owe us.”
Team captain in her 2nd year, nice.
Below the text was a logo for the WNBPA, the players’ union, which announced on social media during the game that the shirts are now on sale....

"All of the players" - Impressive solidarity. GoWNBPAGo!

Maybe I'll need one of those shirts for SSI or Medicare demos before too long. :(

A league loss of 40 million. Without the Clark / Reese rivalry it would be more.

I'm a Jomboy subscriber, they mostly do baseball but dip their toes into other stuff.

Seems like the WNBA has a weird hard on for Caitlin, including the refs not protecting her. Guess she hasn't paid enough dues to get the star treatment.

Maybe she's not liked off the court, maybe they're jealous?

Seems like a weird way to treat the savior of the league.

She's been out with injuries a lot this season, mostly not due to dirty play. She has made only 13 appearances in 2025. The latest a right groin issue that has kept her out since July 15. She may or may not make it back before the end of the regular season on 9/9. It's been a rough year for Fever guards. Now:

Fever's Sophie Cunningham out for remainder of season after suffering knee injury in win over Connecticut Sun
Cunningham averaged 8.6 points per game, shot 43.2% from 3 and saw her popularity soar during her first season in Indiana

Crap. They had to fight to make it over .500. Fingers crossed they make it to the Playoffs and that Caitlin can return to crush the League.

What happened to Chicago? :o

Bad for the league but didn't look dirty.

Chicago sucks.
