GOP Rep. Thomas Massie criticizes US strikes on Iran nuclear facilities as several lawmakers praise Trump

Lawmakers offered mixed reactions after President Donald Trump announced this evening that the US completed a successful attack against three nuclear sites in Iran.

GOP Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky took to X to say, “This is not Constitutional.”

Democratic Rep. Sara Jacobs of California had a similar sentiment, saying on X, “Trump’s strikes against Iran are not only unconstitutional, but an escalation that risks bringing the U.S. into another endless and deadly war.”

Meanwhile, several Republicans celebrated the strikes.

Rep. Andy Harris from Maryland
Rep. Don Bacon of Nebraska
Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina
Sen. John Cornyn of Texas

Democratic Sen. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania, who has at times been at odds with his party over Israel’s war against Hamas, also praised the attack as “the correct move.”

“As I’ve long maintained, this was the correct move by @POTUS. Iran is the world’s leading sponsor of terrorism and cannot have nuclear capabilities. I’m grateful for and salute the finest military in the world,” Fetterman said in a post on X.

According to Sean Hannity, we dropped six bunker bombs on one of the main nuclear sites. Sources told him it is completely gone.

Funny how we bomb the crap out of Iran, then Trump says, “Now’s the time for peace!”

Apparently, the bombs worked, but I don't see how we can assess damage to deep facilities yet. -0-?

Add House Speaker Mike Johnson and House Majority Whip Tom Emmer to the list of cheerleaders. No surprise.

I think it ultimately comes down to this question:

“SHOULD IRAN BE ALLOWED TO HAVE NUCLEAR WEAPONS?”

I used to think, “Sure. After all, every country has the right to look out for their own interests. Why can every country have nukes except for Iran?”

But over time, I have changed my opinion. Letting Iran have nukes is like letting Charles Manson have nukes.

US spies said Iran wasn’t building a nuclear weapon. Trump dismisses that assessment

Tulsi Gabbard left no doubt when she testified to Congress about Iran’s nuclear program earlier this year.

The country was not building a nuclear weapon, the national intelligence director told lawmakers, and its supreme leader had not reauthorized the dormant program.

But President Donald Trump dismissed the assessment of U.S. spy agencies during an overnight flight back to Washington as he cut short his trip to the Group of Seven summit to focus on the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran.

“I don’t care what she said,” Trump told reporters. In his view, Iran was “very close” to having a nuclear bomb.

Trump’s statement aligned him with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has described a nuclear-armed Iran as an imminent threat, rather than with his own top intelligence adviser.
Umm, Nuttyyahoo is nutty, duh.
... Trump’s contradiction of Gabbard echoed his feuds with U.S. spy leaders during his first term, when he viewed them as part of a “deep state” that was undermining his agenda. Most notably, he sided with Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2018 when asked if Moscow had interfered in the 2016 election, saying Putin was “extremely strong and powerful in his denial.”
The MAGA Cult leader is sooo gullible.

Israel is going to try and drag us in to this, probably because they don't have the capability to finish the job on their own.

As predicted,.

US used six B-2 bombers to drop 12 "bunker busters" on Fordow, official says

The US used six B-2 bombers to drop a dozen “bunker buster” bombs on the Fordow nuclear site in Iran, a US official told CNN.

Navy submarines fired 30 TLAM cruise missiles at two other sites, Natanz and Isfahan, and a B2 dropped two bunker busters on Natanz, the official said.

The specifics of the strikes were earlier reported by The New York Times.

“Bunker buster”: The GBU-57A/B Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP) bomb, known as a “bunker buster,” is a 30,000-pound bomb with 6,000 pounds of explosives.

The MOP was designed for “reaching and destroying our adversaries’ weapons of mass destruction located in well-protected facilities,” according to a fact sheet from the US Air Force.

Knew the attack was coming
Knew the planes that would be used
Knew the targets
Was helpless

Are you guys upset that Iran’s nuke ambitions have been set back?

In my view, this isn’t enough. Nuclear programs can be rebuilt. We need to kill all the people who have the ability to build them. Otherwise, it’s a never ending cycle.

Joking?

I'd like to see America's nuke ambitions set back.

Gonna burn all the books, technical manuals and scientific notes, and delete all the websites, and kill all the people smart enough to start from scratch, too? Good luck.

An alternative to mass murder and omnipotent censorship is to create a world where nations don't want to design or possess nuclear weapons. Impossible? Probably, but better odds than your solution.

Based on all the reports Iran has been defeated militarily and that was one objective. Be assured, Iran has plenty of followers and "sleeper cells" around the world. These will be heard from in the future. Hopefully, the Iranian people will take out the current leadership and the new leadership will change direction.

What and who's reports? Please don't say DonOld or Fox News. Neither have credibility.

There's zero credible intelligence information available immediately after a strike like that. Satellites aren't going to tell us what what we need to know.

Anyone want to lay odds the "intelligence" DonOld relied on won't be shared with us?

Was there a "Clear and Present Danger?"

LOL

The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs just confirmed it.

"They are severely damaged but don't know if destroyed. It will take some time for a battle assessment."

Now tell us your sources.

What and who are "all the reports?"
