21 Bridges covers its beat competently enough, but given its impressive cast, this cop thriller should be more arresting than it is.
The problem with 21 Bridges is that it wants to take a stance, but seems entirely unsure what that stance should be.
Wrap those performances in a few half-decent plot points... and the film offers enough depth to justify the set-pieces and narrative twists and turns.
IMO not bad for a cop shoot 'em up. Hundreds of bullets, 14 bodies or more. One of Chadwick Boseman's last films - Intense. Sienna Miller is a gritty narc, not made pretty at all - Good performance. J.K. Simmons - Usual solid role when not selling insurance. Stephan James - Excellent overwhelmed perp.
