Davis is a former Kentucky clerk who served jail time after refusing to grant same-sex couples marriage licenses in 2015.

She was also ordered to pay compensation to a gay couple she refused. Now, Davis is filing an appeal about the compensation and formally asking the Supreme Court to overturn its landmark ruling protecting same-sex marriage.

The Supreme Court on Monday rejected a call to overturn its landmark decision that legalized same-sex marriage nationwide.

The justices, without comment, turned away an appeal from Kim Davis, the former Kentucky court clerk who refused to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples after the high court's 2015 ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges.

Davis had been trying to get the court to overturn a lower-court order for her to pay $360,000 in damages and attorney's fees to a couple denied a marriage license....

Yay SCOTUS, but it's also a little weird. It's like reading that the Supreme Court rejected a call to overturn male-female marriage nationwide. Since Obergefell the world and nation didn't end and the "institution of marriage" is just as shaky as ever, no worse for wear. Time to stop arguing about SSM.
