A source cite for those numbers would be nice. I'd be interested in reading the entire report that detailed what the offences were resulting in arrests, how that number of arrests compares to a typical time period, who found the kids, and whether any of the arrests were made by the military guys imported to "protect federal assets". It would also be good to know the dangers to federal assets these brave guardsmen have faced.

Idk that the intent is to create a militarized stormtrooper force under DonOLD, but this would be one way to achieve it - avoiding the constitutional ban on using the military for domestic law enforcement until it's too late. Yikes.

One point of interest was General Honore yelling at soldiers to put their weapons down, stating that an American city is not a combat zone, and American civilians are not enemies. It's good to know there are real men out there.

I don't think I've ever seen the Spike Lee joint, but NatGeo is also showing an excellent 5-part mini series made this year, Hurricane Katrina: Race Against Time. It delves deep into the systemic racism, the exaggeration of violent chaos, the fact of people taking care of each other, the initial National Guard response based on the myths, and General Russel L. Honoré's heroic intervention. Kanye was correct, if clumsy.
