Face-Eating Leopards

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

And here's another one.

:( If they're going public how many more Americans have the jackboots harassed?

The leopards go all the way to the top.
MAGA Senator Who Backed RFK Jr. Sounds Alarm on Anti-Vax Panel

... Cassidy, a gastroenterologist who worked for 30 years in a public hospital for the uninsured, said at the time that Kennedy had committed to not acting on his most fervent anti-vaccine views.
Dr, we told you that you were being an idiot.
... Last week, The Daily Beast spoke to Dr. Aseem Malhotra, a British cardiologist and RFK Jr. associate, who predicted that the Trump administration will move to pull the COVID vaccine from the U.S. market “within months.” ...
:angry-banghead: Get your updated booster soon.

CDC Leader Drops Bombshell RFK Jr. Admission

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has never actually been briefed by CDC experts before making major public health decisions, according to a departing top official at the agency.
He's briefed by NSAbook, instead.
... Daskalakis resigned from his position as director of the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases on Wednesday in response to the firing of CDC Director Susan Monarez, who was appointed to the role by President Donald Trump. He is one of four top officials to quit in protest.

In his resignation letter, posted to social media, Daskalakis specifically named Health and Human Services Secretary Kennedy and said that he was “unable to serve in an environment that treats CDC as a tool to generate policies and materials that do not reflect scientific reality and are designed to hurt rather than to improve the public’s health.”

“I find that the views he and his staff have shared challenge my ability to continue in my current role at the agency and in the service of the health of the American people,” Daskalakis added.
Hero
... “I think that another important thing to ask the secretary is, has he been briefed by a CDC expert on anything, specifically measles, COVID-19, flu? I think that people should ask him that in that hearing,” Daskalakis told Collins, referring to Kennedy’s scheduled appearance before the Senate Finance Committee next week.
MAGA lies, ALWAYS.
... He (Kennedy) also reposted a tweet from Deputy White House Chief of Staff Taylor Budowich that said, “Public health and honest science will remain a cornerstone of President Trump’s administration and MAHA’s guiding light... America deserves a CDC that will pursue truth and follow the evidence, not one shackled by the whims of unelected bureaucrats.”
MAGA lies, ALWAYS.
... Several senators have called for investigations into the departures at the CDC, including Republicans Bill Murray and Susan Collins, and independent Bernie Sanders. Democrat Patty Murray, a senior member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee, called for Kennedy to be fired.
Better late than never, RepuQs. That said, the Dems are in an awkward position. Not one of them voted to confirm CDC Directer Monarez, despite someone here being impressed with her resume and testimony  . Opps.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Levity and GoCubsGo's favorite pundit, Scott Jennings, get trashed:

Sen. Bill Cassidy wants 'oversight' of CDC. Some say he deserves blame for its turmoil.

... Yet some health experts believe Cassidy deserves blame for what’s happening as a physician in an important leadership position who was concerned about Kennedy’s vaccine views but voted to confirm him anyway. As such, Cassidy needs to do more than oversight said Dr. Thomas Farley, the former top public health official in New York City and Philadelphia.

Back to the current article:
“Cassidy now, I think, does bear some responsibility to stop (Kennedy) from causing more damage,” Farley said, arguing Kennedy needs to be fired....
Cassidy swing vote

... Cassidy was considered a key swing vote during the confirmation process in January. Kennedy's nomination advanced 14-13 in the Senate Finance Committee with Cassidy's support.

... The Louisiana senator ultimately cast the decisive vote to move Kennedy’s nomination forward in committee, and joined with every Republican other than Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Kentucky, in voting on the Senate floor to confirm Kennedy as Health secretary.
:puke-left:
... “Just one senator could have prevented most of this by not confirming RFK, Jr. And in my view, Cassidy, as a physician, is really the one to blame!” Dr. Douglas Henley, the former executive vice president and CEO of the American Academy of Family Physicians, wrote on social media Aug. 28 in response to another doctor criticizing Kennedy after the CDC resignations.
:---P
... Rep. Don Beyer, D-Virginia, called Kennedy a “kook” with “crackpot conspiracy theories” in a social media post on Aug. 28 and said if President Donald Trump doesn’t fire him he will “bear the responsibility for the unnecessary and preventable illnesses and deaths that result."
It has less meaning 7 months into the admin* after so many have been fired or quit, but this week it's looking better for me winning our bet. Jagoff (O Really, GoCubsGo) has dodged the bullet a few times. We never hear about White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles (neoplacebo), which is refreshing after Dolt .45's insurrectionist Mark Meadows.

Maybe Susie is not really White House chief of staff at all and that function is actually being performed by Stephen Miller. Maybe Susue spends all day every day sitting at a desk with both elbows on the desktop and her face resting in both her hands.

Arkansas farmers whine and beg for government handouts:

https://katv.com/news/local/hundreds-of ... n-crawford
NEWPORT, Ark. (KATV) — Hundreds of struggling Arkansas farmers are pleading with the federal government to provide emergency funding amid a farm economy crisis.

Almost everything that could go wrong for Arkansas farmers went wrong this year, leaving many facing bankruptcy or even the closure of farms that have been passed down for generations.

A dismal global market and plunging commodity prices mean there’s little hope of breaking even, even as input costs soar because of inflation and tariffs—on top of bad weather earlier in the year.
Lololollolol.

Sell your sixth generation farm to some corp and figure something out. I don't know. I don't really care. Go pull yourselves up by your bootstraps. Stop asking for government handouts you welfare fucks. Congratulations on getting what you voted for.

Ugh, perhaps the saddest leopard victims:
Epstein Survivor Who Voted for Trump Questions What He’s Hiding
Jena Lisa-Jones, who survived abuse at the hands of Jeffrey Epstein, wants to know why Donald Trump is dragging his feet on releasing the files.

... “I’m a Republican. I voted for him. I voted for Trump,” Jena-Lisa Jones, who was abused by Epstein in 2003 when she was just 14 years old, said on MSNBC Wednesday evening. “For him to say what he’s saying is beyond me. Because I put my hope in him, and he’s supposed to protect us. And for him to say that this is a joke, and that it’s sides? This is not sides. We will say it time and time again: None of us are up there accusing him of anything. There is no one that is accusing him of any wrongdoing, so for the fact that he is saying those things and saying it’s a hoax, who are you hiding for then? Because if it’s not you, then who is it?”

Answer the question, asshole.
... Jones isn’t the only Epstein survivor questioning her vote for Trump.

“Mr. President Donald J. Trump, I am a registered Republican, not that that matters because this is not political. However, I cordially invite you to the Capitol to meet me in person so you can understand this is not a hoax,” said survivor Haley Robson when asked about Trump’s hoax comments at the Wednesday press conference. “We are real human beings. This is real trauma.… We’re here in person. To say that it’s a hoax is just not … please humanize us. I would like Donald J. Trump and every person in America and around the world to humanize us, and to hear us for what we have to say.”

At this point it’s clear that whatever “hoax” there is is coming directly from the Trump administration, as they have done everything in their power to avoid holding any of their rich friends accountable and giving these abused women the basic justice they deserve.

For the record, I'm a supporter of social safety nets. I also would rather see farms in the hands of families instead of large agro-corps. It's difficult to feel sympathy for these people, ones who've likely moaned about "takers" and "handouts" while they themselves do exactly that after likely having voted for the person who's exacerbated their plight exponentially and promised to do exactly that in in plain language during the 2024 campaign

I'm sure she meant that child abuse shouldn't be political, and wouldn't be in a Trumpless world. That said, Biden didn't open up the files, either. Massie needs 2 more Repubs on his discharge petition to force a vote. He's already got our favorites - Bozobert, EmptyG, and Nancy Mace from Outer Space.

IIRC farmers in particular really got screwed by Dolt .45's trade/tariff war with China. They then saw 4 years of relative stability with Joltin' Joe. They had all the warning they needed in 2024.

Rural South Dakota farming communities choose
seppuku as a show of fealty and unwavering devotion to Donald Trump.

https://southdakotasearchlight.com/2025 ... n-farmers/
But when asked if farmers have faith in a good outcome from the Trump administration’s trade standoff with China, his gaze shifted and his brow creased momentarily as he thought about the best way to answer.

“Hope might be the better word over faith,” he said.

...

About 60% of soybeans grown in South Dakota are exported, with China formerly buying about 30%, Schmitz said. China imports soybeans largely for livestock feed to meet the growing demand for meat among its 1.4 billion people.

Now the country is boycotting purchases of U.S. soybeans in retaliation for tariffs on Chinese goods imposed recently by Republican President Donald Trump.

“There is not a bushel sold to China right now, and we’re about to harvest,” Schmitz said
.

...

Both also stressed the long-term importance of finding additional buyers for U.S. soybeans. That could include developing better trade relationships with countries that have large populations and growing economies, such as India.

...

The congressman said many of the farmers he meets are “still backing the president’s play” to use tariffs in negotiations that could benefit agriculture in the future, but he said high tariffs “cannot be business as usual on a go-forward basis.”

“The president’s trying to use them as a tool to get better deals,” Johnson said. “I understand that approach, but we do not want to just end with high tariffs.”

...

He referenced a statistic indicating exports account for 20% of the value of U.S. agricultural production.

“So if you were to lose all your exports, you’re going to lose farms, and you’re going to lose farmers. You’re going to lose rural America and rural communities,” Kuehl said
.
