Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Jennifer Tilly, 66: "Thirst Trap"

Image
Article
... In addition to her own successful Hollywood career in roles in Bullets over Broadway and Bride of Chucky, Tilly is also a professional poker player. She also turned out to be a smart businesswoman and made a savvy move in her divorce from Sam Simon, the late co-creator of The Simpsons.

They divorced in 1991, where she negotiated “a percentage of the net proceeds of the show’s earnings.” As she told The New York Times in March, “No one thought the show would go on for trillions of years. Believe me, I thank Sam every single day.” ...

:D 40 years ago I might have paid money for her naked pic. ;)

I have maintenance scheduled on my older Ford. I opened up my Sept calendar, saw "Escort service" and did a double take.

All those are too scary. I'll stick with Freddy Kreuger or Pinhead, far more gentle and less cruel creatures.

Regarding Halloween, what's everybody's favourite Halloween film or costume. Every year I watch Halloween: Season of the witch. Nothing to do with the other films in the series. Also Ricky Horror. Not really Halloween, but still.

Trick R Treat is a pretty good film
Five Halloween stories: A principal has a secret life, a virgin is looking for her first time, a group of kids pull a prank, a woman who loathes Halloween does not respect the rules and a mean old man meets a demonic trick-or-treater.

For music, Type O Negative and Electric Wizard 🤘

Favs, no particular order:
The Rocky Horror Picture Show is up there.
Aliens - SciFi sure, but also all the elements of a great horror film.
Scream
Psycho (original)
The Birds
From Dusk till Dawn
28 Days Later
World War Z
Zombieland, Zombieland: Double Tap
Get Out
Freaks
Carrie

Live music fundraiser for Montana wilderness I helped organize. One guy came dressed as a very impressive and realistic giant asshole labeled 'James Watt' (Reagan's Sec of Interior).
Heidi Klum always rocks the costumes.
The Red Baron's plane - I was young. Mom and I made red biplane wings that strapped to my back and a cup with a beanie propeller that fit on my nose. I remember building it more than going out with it.

I thought 28 Weeks Later was good. I have not seen 28 Years Later yet. I will, thanks.
... 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple will be released on 16 January 2026, by Sony Pictures Releasing. A sequel to The Bone Temple is in development.

 There haven't been Saturday morning cartoons for many years. Dunno why, probably somebody was offended by Elmer Fudd shooting at black ducks or or making fun of visually challenged buffoons, or racist Yosemite Sam.

Silliest horror movie line ever:
in "The Gate" https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0093075/

Couple of kids at home alone find a hole in their backyard that seems to be the gateway to some version of Hell. They're inside the house when their sister arrives and they tell her they've found "demons in the backyard." Cool as could be, like she gets news like this every day, she asks "Demons? What kind of demons?" Same tone as if they had told her they saw a bird and she says "what kind of bird?"

So I opened another box with the little silica gel package in it, labeled of course "Do not eat." I usually think that some time in the past some idiot ate one, got sick and sued somebody so now they're all marked. Turned out the stuff inside isn't poisonous, but the packet is considered a choking hazard. OK, so maybe putting the "Do not eat" isn't so silly. Who gets choked? Well about 36,000 a year. Oofda - maybe the label ought to be bigger. Wait, though - 34,000 of those are kids under six, most of whom probably can't read the warning. Opps. Still a mostly useless label.

It's a semi-warning to parents, but it really ought to say, "Choking Hazard".
