Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

So now reporters aren't supposed to investigate anything?

Republicans against Trump

NEW: The Trump administration unveiled a new crackdown Friday on journalists at the Pentagon, saying it will require them to pledge they won’t gather any information — even unclassified — that hasn’t been expressly authorized for release, and will revoke the press credentials of those who do not obey.

The U.S. is looking more like Russia and China every day.
Yep :(

Every report out of the Pentagon should carry the disclaimer that it was censored by Jagoff and Dementia Don.
New York Times Rebukes Pentagon’s Reporter Restrictions: ‘At Stark Odds With the Constitutional Protections’ | Video
The Department of Defense explains it "remains committed to transparency" but now requires approval before reporting can be published

The New York Times will not abide by new restrictions on reporters set by the Pentagon, which require pre-approval before reporting can be published, the paper announced Saturday morning. A spokesperson for the Times insisted such restrictions are “at stock (stark?) odds with the constitutional protections of a free press in a democracy.”

The Times’ statement reads in full: “Asking independent journalists to submit to these kinds of restrictions is at stock (stark?) odds with the constitutional protections of a free press in a democracy, and a continued attempt to throttle the public’s right to understand what their government is doing.”

“This is yet another step in a concerning pattern of reducing access to what the U.S. military is undertaking at taxpayer expense. Our journalists will continue to report the facts deeply and fairly,” the statement concluded.
 Heroes!
Though the Department of Defense insists it “remains committed to transparency to promote accountability and public trust,” the document also warned that “information must be approved for public release by an appropriate authorizing official before it is released, even if it is unclassified.”

In addition to requiring approval before reporting is released to the public, the document also removes access to swaths of the Pentagon unless a reporter is accompanied by an approved escort. This is a stark change to previous policy, which allowed unescorted access throughout the building (apart from offices and meeting rooms).
:bs: :bs: Fascism Is here.
The update comes days after Trump filed a $15 billion lawsuit against the Times. That lawsuit was later dismissed.
This is Dementa Don's crybaby response to LOSING?

WTF?

Mr. Homan’s encounter with the undercover agents, recorded on audiotape, led him to be investigated for potential bribery and other crimes, after he apparently took the money and agreed to help the agents — who were posing as businessmen — secure future government contracts related to border security, the people said.

After Mr. Trump took office this year, Justice Department officials shut down the case because of doubts about whether prosecutors could prove to a jury that Mr. Homan had agreed to do any specific acts in exchange for the money, and because he had not held an official government position at the time of the meeting with undercover agents, the people added.

"NYT" generally refers to New York Times, but the story was reported by various sources. FBI dropped it (but Patel admitted there had been a "witch hunt" investigation). It was dropped after Trump came back into power and appointed him. But the official line is:
... since Homan was not a public official at the time he accepted the money and Trump had not yet become president, his actions did not meet the criteria for a standard bribery charge.
Carefully worded "criteria for a standard bribery charge." Hires only the best. Yeppers.

SoupySales' laziness and voluntary ignorance got me to check. It took me seconds to find relevant articles at:
thehill.com
reuters.com
usatoday.com
cnn.com
newsnationnow.com
usnews.com
economictimes.indiatimes.com
indiatoday.in
Of course, the sites left of these are also covering it.

These sites with a stake in maintaining the voluntary ignorance of their users don't cover it at all, surprise surprise:
The Christian Broadcasting Network
Newsmax
One America News
Right Side Broadcasting Network
Faux Noise insists on ads so I didn't check it. However, googling "fox news homan bribery" yielded nothing.

I also found this:

Zohran Mamdani Boycotts ABC’s Town Hall Over Jimmy Kimmel Suspension

NYC mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani will not be participating in a Town Hall event with WABC this week due to the parent company’s decision to suspend Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show.

“We cannot understand this moment of authoritarianism as solely coming from the White House, when it is also characterized by the cowardice of those in response to it — the cowardice that we have seen typified whether by the parent company of ABC or by so-called leaders like Andrew Cuomo and Eric Adams looking to the White House for their path to their future ambition. I am running to be the next mayor of the city to finally make clear what it looks like to stand up, not just for this city, but also for the Constitution,” Mamdani said at an event in New York Monday....
 Bravo.

‘The View’ Addresses Jimmy Kimmel Suspension — and Why the Show Didn’t Discuss It Sooner

400 Celebs Sign Open Letter Backing Jimmy Kimmel, Including Tom Hanks, Meryl Streep, Jennifer Aniston

ABC/Disney: Wait, we pissed off thousands of subscribers, Wall Street, Barack, Pete, NYC's next mayor, the women of ‘The View’, hundreds of celebs, Jennifer Aniston AND GoCubsGo? Oh crap.

Aside: I'll bet that 1994 GoCubsGo never thought that he'd appear in the same sentence as Jennifer Aniston. :D

Jimmy Kimmel to Return to ABC on Tuesday After Show’s Controversial Suspension

:happy-cheerleaderkid:
I thought for sure he'd never be back.
... The ABC late-night host is returning to broadcast on Tuesday following a brief-but-monumental suspension that sparked a national debate over the Trump Administration’s pressure tactics and the modern limits and consequences of free speech.
Dementia Don is a LOSER, again. FFC chair Brendan Carr, too.
... Behind the scenes, sources says Kimmel wasn’t planning to apologize on that night’s show and instead was going to defend his original comments as being taken out of context and “grossly mischaracterized” by MAGA, which Disney brass thought would only inflame the situation. Disney/ABC then announced Jimmy Kimmel Live! was “suspended indefinitely.” On Thursday, a follow-up meeting between Kimmel and Disney execs reportedly ended in a stalemate with Kimmel sticking to his stated plan of unapologetically defending himself.
Hero.
Despite Kimmel’s return, it is not immediately clear if his show will be available across the entire country. Sinclair, for its part, had said that it would not go back to running Kimmel’s show on its stations until the late night host apologized for his comments, met with Sinclair representatives, and made a donation to Turning Point, the organization that Kirk founded. Sinclair, it should be noted, owns the ABC station in the Washington D.C. metro area, among other markets.
:obscene-birdiered: :angry-banghead: WLOS is Sinclair. Here's my note to WLOS and Sinclair:
Sinclair, bring back Kimmel, immediately and unconditionally!
https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/tv/ ... 24637.html
Back to the article:
Nexstar, similarly, could also choose to continue to preempt the show, though of course it wiould still be accessible online across the country after it runs on ABC.

The suspension drew quick praise from President Trump and some vocal right-wing “FAFO” Kimmel critics online, but few others.

Instead, it sparked a massive outpouring of criticism of Disney, Nexstar and Sinclair for caving to pressure. Media pundits, politicians, Hollywood unions, celebrities, other talk show hosts, and even some Republican leaders (such as Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul) condemned the series of the events as a dangerous step toward networks becoming state-run media, with many framing it as a potential “tipping point” moment if Disney didn’t reverse its decision. Some people online pledged to unsubscribe and boycott Disney subsidiaries such as Disney+ and Hulu.
GoCubsGo most prominent among them  . Hey MAGA fascists, YOU FAFO.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom ...
Ben Stiller ...
Jamie Lee Curtis (screamed) ...
Jean Smart ...
Marc Maron ...

Hollywood unions — including SAG-AFTRA and the WGA — slammed the decision. “The right to speak our minds and to disagree with each other — to disturb, even — is at the very heart of what it means to be a free people,” the WGA wrote in a statement. “It is not to be denied. Not by violence, not by the abuse of governmental power, nor by acts of corporate cowardice.” ...

Even a voice within Carr’s own FCC, Commissioner Anna M. Gomez, issued a lengthy statement criticizing the chairman’s bullying. “We cannot allow an inexcusable act of political violence to be twisted into a justification for government censorship and control,” she wrote. “This FCC does not have the authority, the ability, or the constitutional right to police content or punish broadcasters for speech the government dislikes.”
 Perfect.
... Kimmel’s current contract, it should be noted, ends next year, and he has raised the specter of retirement in the past. Whether the suspension by ABC means that he is more likely to exit, or double down and stay with the company, remains to be seen.
Whatever, we won!

Nexstar owns the local Faux station, and a non-network affiliated KUSI. No Sinclair stations this side of Bakersfield as far as I know. It's just amazing the extent to which these people think they can make things true just because they say so, despite clear evidence to the contrary. Wonder where this idea of the "big lie" came from. Oh wait.
