Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

They're assaulting the 1A from all directions.

US to punish those who visit porn websites? Senators introduce new bill to 'protect American families'

Crap, what will I do when there's nothing good on TV? Who will protect we freedom lovers from "American families" and Mormons like Lee?
Millions of step sisters and MILF'S will be out of work and a bevy of senators will have to look at their wives again.

Hey, bet Nancy Mace is willing to fill the void.

The First Amendment fights back:
Ex-Prosecutor Says This Ruling Just Helped Americans 'Connect The Dots' On Trump
Andrew Weissmann predicted that similar decisions will be made in the courts "over and over again."

Ex-prosecutor Andrew Weissmann on Friday reacted to a federal judge striking down President Donald Trump’s executive order targeting law firm Jenner & Block because the order violated the First Amendment.
:---P
... U.S. District Judge John D. Bates — a George W. Bush appointee — wrote in his ruling that Trump’s order “makes no bones about why it chose its target,” adding that “it picked Jenner because of the causes Jenner champions, the clients Jenner represents, and a lawyer Jenner once employed.”
"a George W. Bush appointee" :---P
Friday’s ruling marks the second time in a matter of weeks that a judge has foiled Trump’s attempts to retaliate against a major law firm whose work he’s not a fan of.

Several law firms have opted to kiss the president’s ring by striking deals with him in hopes of avoiding similar executive orders targeting them, leading a number of law associates as well as top partners to abandon ship as a result.
May the cowardly firms shrivel up in shame.
Weissmann — a legal pundit and a notable critic of the president — told MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace that he loves Bates’ ruling while tying the decision to the administration’s battle with Harvard University.

A federal judge on Friday blocked the Trump administration from barring the university’s enrollment of foreign students.

“And what is the main ground? First Amendment violation,” said Weissmann of the Harvard ruling.

“And so you’re going to see this over and over again.”

He stressed that it’s “very important” for Americans not to see the Trump administration’s retaliatory acts as “isolated” events.

“This is sort of remarkable,” he said. “The United States government repeatedly being found to have violated the First Amendment in really significant ways — attacking a major firm, a series of major law firms and Harvard University.”

Kayleigh McEnany Makes Chilling Demand For ‘60 Minutes’ Reporter Over Anti-Trump Speech
The Trump White House press secretary turned Fox News host railed over Scott Pelley’s now-viral address at Wake Forest University.

... Gutfeld then turned to footage of Pelley warning students in the now-viral speech that, in Trump’s America, the rule of law, journalism and freedom of speech are all under attack.

Afterward, Gutfeld pointed out: “He wasn’t arrested after that, you know. He wasn’t arrested, Kayleigh.”

McEnany, a Trump first-term White House press secretary, replied: “Yeah, well, look, he should have been.” ...

Yet another MAGA assault on the 1A:

Florida attorney general wants lawmaker deported over criticism of Trump military parade

 White guy attacking a Black woman, of course.
... In the clip, Omar says the U.S. “is turning into one of the worst countries on earth.”

“I grew up in a dictatorship, and I don’t even remember witnessing anything like that,” said Omar, who was born in Somalia, referring to the parade.

“To have a democracy, a beacon of hope for the world to now be turned into one of the worst countries where the military are in our streets without any regard for people’s constitutional rights,” she continued.

“While our president is spending millions of dollars propping himself up like a failed dictator with a military parade. It is really shocking,” she said.

In the interview, Omar noted the deployment of U.S. troops to minimize protests in Los Angeles took place in the same week that the administration held the parade in Washington, which celebrated the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army. The event happened to fall on President Trump’s birthday and Flag Day.

Ironically, Uthmeier is a proud illegal:
Uthmeier has taken a staunch conservative stance on immigration as state attorney general. On Tuesday, a federal judge found him to be in civil contempt over her ruling that put a hold on a new Florida law that would label it a misdemeanor for those residing in the country illegally to enter the state.

“If being held in contempt is what it costs to defend the rule of law and stand firmly behind President Trump’s agenda on illegal immigration, so be it,” Uthmeier said in a post on X following the ruling Tuesday.

He is always willing to stand up for the oppressed. He is funny, kind and sometimes a little messy. He constantly puts his needs last when it comes to helping others. What People Are Saying

Brett Max Kaufman, senior staff attorney with American Civil Liberties Union's Center for Democracy said in a statement: "This is a clear attempt by President Trump to make an example out of Mr. Khalil and silence dissent across the country. No matter what your views are on Israel & Palestine, we should all be terrified of a government incarcerating its residents for their political opinions."
3 months later:
Palestinian activist Mahmoud Khalil is released after spending over three months at a Louisiana detention center

Palestinian activist Mahmoud Khalil arrived in Newark, New Jersey, Saturday afternoon, a day after he was released from the Louisiana ICE detention center where he has spent more than three months after he was arrested outside his apartment on Columbia University’s campus.

“Still, the fight is far from over,” Khalil said while thanking his supporters at a news conference at the airport. “I continue to advocate for Palestinians, for the immigrants who are left behind in that facility.”

Wearing a keffiyeh – a scarf seen as a symbol of Palestinian identity and resistance – a grinning Khalil pumped his fists as he walked out of the detention center Friday evening with one of his attorneys. Since March, he had been detained at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in the rural town of Jena, Louisiana.

“Although justice prevailed but it’s long, very long overdue, and this shouldn’t have taken three months,” Khalil told reporters outside the detention center, adding he couldn’t wait to reunite with his wife and newborn son.

Judge Michael Farbiarz ordered Khalil’s release on bail Friday after finding he is not a flight risk or a danger to public safety. The judge said it’s “highly unusual” to be seeking his detention at this point.

The judge also cited several “extraordinary circumstances” in Khalil’s case that led him to order his release, including “that there is a due process violative effort to punish” the Columbia University graduate who played a central role in negotiations on behalf of pro-Palestinian student protesters last year.

Khalil “is not a flight risk, and the evidence that has been presented to me at least is that he is not a danger to the community, period, full stop,” Farbiarz said.

Khalil, a lawful permanent resident who is married to a US citizen and has not been charged with a crime, was one of the first arrestees in the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown targeting student activism. As his case dragged on for over 100 days, several other student activists targeted for deportation by the Trump administration were released....

Khalil’s wife, Noor Abdalla, said in a statement that she can “breathe a sigh of relief” knowing that Khalil will be reunited with his family after missing the birth of his first child during months of detention at a facility over 1,000 miles away....

“The court concluded there’s no reason he should continue to be detained given the serious harms that are happening, the chill that is happening to his speech and other people’s speech as a result of his detention,” one of his attorneys Baher Azmy told CNN Friday....

As the case played out in immigration and federal courts, the administration has argued that Khalil should be deported because his presence in the United States threatens the administration’s foreign policy goal of combatting antisemitism. His lawyers contended that he was targeted for his pro-Palestinian views in violation of his constitutional rights.

“There is at least something to the underlying claim that there is an effort to use the immigration charge here to punish the petitioner. And of course, that would be unconstitutional,” Farbiarz said Friday....

Khalil’s wife said the ruling doesn’t begin to address the injustices their family has been through but said she’s “celebrating Mahmoud coming back to New York to be reunited with our little family, and the community that has supported us since the day he was unjustly taken for speaking out for Palestinian freedom.”

... When asked if Khalil will continue to protest when released, Azmy said: “He’s a peace activist, he’s an international human rights activist, and he’s Palestinian, and I don’t expect he will ever stop advocating for justice for Palestinian people and an end to their continued slaughter and starvation.”

The Crybaby in Chief still despises the 1A:
Trump Threatens To Sue New York Times For 'Unpatriotic' Reporting, Gets Feisty Response
The president's lawyer also threatened to sue CNN over its coverage of a U.S. intelligence report on the bombing of nuclear sites in Iran.

... The letter from attorney Alejandro Brito, the Times reported, ordered the outlet to “retract and apologize” for its “false,” defamatory” and “unpatriotic” article due to the alleged damage to Trump’s reputation.

Noting that the administration had confirmed the existence of the report, the Gray Lady hit back hard.

“No retraction is needed,” the paper’s lawyer, David McCraw, wrote back. “No apology will be forthcoming. We told the truth to the best of our ability. We will continue to do so.”
:---P
... On Truth Social Thursday, Trump called for reporters from the Times and CNN to be fired. In his escalating war with the media, he already said CNN’s Natasha Bertrand should be thrown out “like a dog.”

Again, the Crybaby in Chief despises the 1A:
'It's coming': Trump's new warning to reporters escalates fears in the press

... When host Maria Bartiromo pointed to Trump's recent social media posts critizing media outlets that reported on an intelligence assessment that Iran's nuclear program was not "obliterated" in recent U.S. strikes, Trump said, “They should be prosecuted.”

“Who specifically?” the anchor asked.

Trump outlined an assertive plan: “We can find out. You go up and tell the reporter, 'national security, who gave it?' You have to do that. And I suspect we'll be doing things like that.” ...

I have visited this vigil. The 1A takes another hit from Dementia Don:
A decades-long peace vigil outside the White House is dismantled after Trump's order

Law enforcement officials on Sunday removed a peace vigil that had stood outside the White House for more than four decades after President Donald Trump ordered it to be taken down as part of the clearing of homeless encampments in the nation’s capital.

Philipos Melaku-Bello, a volunteer who has manned the vigil for years, told The Associated Press that the Park Police removed it early Sunday morning. He said officials justified the removal by mislabeling the memorial as a shelter.

“The difference between an encampment and a vigil is that an encampment is where homeless people live,” Melaku-Bello said. “As you can see, I don't have a bed. I have signs and it is covered by the First Amendment right to freedom of speech and freedom of expression.”

The White House confirmed the removal, telling AP in a statement that the vigil was a "hazard to those visiting the White House and the surrounding areas.”
:crybaby: , as usual.
... The vigil was started in 1981 by activist William Thomas to promote nuclear disarmament and an end to global conflicts. It is believed to be the longest continuous anti-war protest in U.S. history. When Thomas died in 2009, other protesters like Melaku-Bello manned the tiny tent and the banner, which read “Live by the bomb, die by the bomb," around the clock to avoid it being dismantled by authorities.

The small but persistent act of protest was brought to Trump's attention during an event at the White House on Friday.

Brian Glenn, a correspondent for the conservative network Real America’s Voice, told Trump the blue tent was an “eyesore” for those who come to the White House.

“Just out front of the White House is a blue tent that originally was put there to be an anti-nuclear tent for nuclear arms,” Glenn said. “It’s kind of morphed into more of an anti-American, sometimes anti-Trump at many times.”

Trump, who said he was not aware of it, told his staff: “Take it down. Take it down today, right now."

Melaku-Bello said that Glenn spread misinformation when he told the president that the tent had rats and “could be a national security risk" because people could hide weapons in there.
MAGA lies, ALWAYS. Dementia Don is too gullible and stupid to have the NPS confirm the RAV's allegations.
“No weapons were found," he told AP. "He said that it was rat-infested. Not a single rat came out as they took down the cinder blocks."

The 1A takes yet another hit from Dementia Don. Good thing - for now :problem: - that we're all citizens.
State Department warns foreigners in U.S. they could revoke visas for anyone 'praising' Kirk's death

... “In light of yesterday’s horrific assassination of a leading political figure, I want to underscore that foreigners who glorify violence and hatred are not welcome visitors to our country,” Deputy Secretary of State Chris Landau wrote in an X post on Thursday. “I have been disgusted to see some on social media praising, rationalizing, or making light of the event, and have directed our consular officials to undertake appropriate action,” he said, adding that he welcomes people to bring such comments to his attention.
We stopped short of praising and I haven't heard any good jokes to share, but it could be said that we've done some "rationalizing". Who would decide that, Landau? Should I send him a BRD link just to check?

Kimmel, the latest victim of the MAGA assault on the 1A.

Was This Jimmy Kimmel’s Last-Ever Musical Guest?
Country singer Margo Price sang defiant “Don’t Let the Bastards Get You Down” on Tuesday night’s show. Kimmel was later forced off the air by FCC

Image
... If Kimmel doesn’t return — Trump, in a TruthSocial post, said the show was “cancelled” — that would make Price’s performance an ironic capstone to the series’ 22-year run. “Don’t Let the Bastards Get You Down,” off the Nashville country singer’s latest album, Hard Headed Woman, was inspired by both The Handmaid’s Tale author Margaret Atwood and a quote that Kris Kristofferson said to comfort Sinead O’Connor in 1992 after the Irish singer was booed after tearing up a picture of Pope John Paul II on Saturday Night Live. Price began her Kimmel performance by tearing up a sheet of paper that read simply “Bastards.”

“I wrote this song three years ago, and it was started about my anger at the music industry and the people I was working with,” Price told Rolling Stone during an appearance on the Nashville Now podcast this summer. “It’s funny how that businessman can very easily be anyone who is in a seat of power and corrupting the world.”

In an Instagram post on Thursday, Price shared a video of her Kimmel performance and wrote, “If this was the last word, I’m glad it was mine.”
Me too. Perfection.

We're just getting started. :o
:crybaby:
"And the radical left has done tremendous damage to the country, but we're fixing it. We have right now the hottest country anywhere in the world," Trump claimed. "Remember, one year ago, our country was dead, and now Washington, D.C. is fixed and I fixed it!"

He finished the sentiment by urging Karl to take his wife to "have dinner now that you won't be shot" in the nation's capital.
As long as you take a motorcade with a dozen Secret Service agents to a restaurant for the wealthy one block from the White House.
... In response to the statement to EW, Federal Communications Commission chair Brendan Carr told Fox News that he feels there might be "consequences" for The View cohosts that "aren't quite finished," as the panelists have largely criticized the Trump administration.

The People Fired Over Posting About Charlie Kirk Are Fighting Back
Large free speech groups are mobilizing to provide legal support to people fired over their social media posts that were critical of Kirk.

Mostly public employees. Private employees have few free speech rights.

This is not just about the individuals fired. The RW's canonization of Charlie and hatred for the 1A campaign is also about discouraging other citizens from speaking freely in the first place. Fascism is here.
