Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Trump just opened the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to drilling, risking fragile ecosystems for short-term gain.
I cant wait for his obituary
We have to stop them it’s gonna destroy everything that has been protected and also it will destroy more of the planet
He’s running the country just like he ran his businesses that he bankrupted.
He cares about nothing but more money for him, his family and friends. Congrats to all who voted him. Great job.
How can he do this by himself without any congressional approval!?
Good question. Much of our 40-year+ fight has been in Congress.
Once these places are gone, we won’t ever get them back

Scientists issue dire warning as iconic American city sinks into the sea: 'Human intervention has made it worse'

Maybe I'm crazy and too pessimistic but I think New Orleans is done, and any further investment in it is a certain waste. We may be able to save some of our cities - Miami Beach? Manhattan? - but the Big Easy will be too hard.

Yeah, N'awlins was done when they "drained the swamp" south of the city. What used to be protection against storms turned into a sluiceway. But really, with the increased strength of storms for reasons not in New Orleans control, they probably would be doomed anyway. Sad.

It escapes many that without the Mississippi River being diverted just south of Natchez the river would maintain a straight line between Baton Rouge and Lafayette into the gulf. There would be no river through BR and NOLA.

MAGA was never serious about MAHA.
Trump administration re-approves twice-banned pesticide

US President Donald Trump's administration on Friday re-approved the use of pesticide dicamba for spraying on top of genetically modified cotton and soybean crops, drawing swift backlash from environmental groups and the Make America Healthy Again movement....

The decision also rattled MAHA activists -- supporters of Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Kelly Ryerson, who last year started a petition calling for EPA administrator Lee Zeldin to resign over pesticide approvals, told AFP she was "very disappointed."

"This is clearly the work of the chemical lobbyists who now are staffed throughout the EPA and are not aligned with the MAHA movement or with President Trump's mandate," she said.

Alexandra Munoz, a molecular toxicologist who works at times with the MAHA movement, also cricitized the move.

"EPA's approval for over-the-top application of dicamba will result in poisonous drift that will damage American farmland, moving us farther away from a future where regenerative agriculture can thrive."

"This decision is not what is needed to make America healthy again," she told AFP.

... Reuters reports that environmental groups have stated that allowing mercury, which is a neurotoxin capable of impairing brain development in babies, to be freely emitted into the air will result in higher health-related costs.
... and more GQP voters. :(
... The Daily Mail shared that Brinkley wrote on social media, telling her followers that natural disasters and diseases will all intensify if the state of the planet is not placed at the top of a Scale of preference over profits for a handful of greedy corporations.

... Brinkley called for support from her online community, stating that nature does not have respect for race or skin color, as no one will survive without a healthy biodiverse environment.

The actress also admitted that the changes will not only affect the current population but also future generations as well. "For the sake and well-being of our children, action is mandated," her words echoed....

Don't forget that much of Trump's destructive revisions are only eliminating the most recent revisions made by Biden and Obama. Like everything else he does, it's all personal and petty. Hard to see many corporations spending millions to retrofit back to a former standard when it's like to get changed again in three years.

Same thing can be said for CAFE standards, offshore drilling, ANWR exploration, Venezuela etc....

Don''r forget windmills....they cause cancer, make noise, kill birds, drive whales batty, and spoil a view. Solar is worse. Let's pretend it's smart to cede all this new tech to China; it's no big deal.

And by the way, that new bridge between Canada and Michigan that I tried to hold hostage....I did it because the family that owns the only other bridge between Canada and Michigan in the area gave me a lot of money to try to make sure they don't lose any money on this thing. It's not corruption; it's for the American people.....about twenty of them.

Removal of Bradford Pear trees encouraged in Hendersonville

:headscratch: I've never heard of invasive pears before. They sound nasty:
Pyrus calleryana, also known as the Callery pear, is a species of pear tree native to East Asia in the family Rosaceae. Its cultivar Bradford pear, known for its offensive odor (often compared to rotting fish or semen :wtf: ), is widely planted throughout the United States and increasingly regarded as an invasive species.

In your 'hood, sorta:
Tijuana River sewage is making the air toxic and sickening thousands in California

... Since 2018, more than 100 billion gallons of raw sewage laden with industrial chemicals and trash have poured into the Tijuana River, according to the International Boundary and Water Commission. The river traverses land where three generations of the Egger family once raised dairy cows. The United States and Mexico signed an agreement last year to clean up the longstanding problem by upgrading wastewater plants to keep up with Tijuana’s population growth and industrial waste from factories, many owned by U.S. companies.
Figures :ateeth:
In the meantime, tens of thousands of people are being exposed to the sewage. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin said during a February visit to San Diego that it will take about two years to resolve one of the nation’s worst and longest-running environmental crises, which affects a largely poor, Latino population....
Figures

New US-Canada bridge nears opening despite earlier Trump threat

Opps, never mind.
(Commerce Secretary) Lutnick delayed Canada bridge debut to seek bigger cut of toll revenue

“This is thuggish behavior,” Jason Kenney, a former Canadian cabinet minister in the government that did the bridge deal, said in a social media post. “Canada paid for 100% of the bridge. If the USA wants part of the revenue, it should make an offer to buy all or part of the bridge.”
The point is to make the Dozy Don donor's bridge more competitive.
... Manufacturers and transportation companies believe it will bring savings: trucks will no longer have to haul freight through 10 traffic lights in downtown Windsor, Ontario, which sits just across the river from Detroit. A study by the Cross-Border Institute at the University of Windsor estimated the time savings for trucks would amount to almost 850,000 hours per year — and that the economic benefit of having a second bridge in the area is worth billions of dollars.

... The president has also said he doesn’t want auto imports from Canada. But auto parts manufacturers on both sides of the border are likely to be major users of the bridge. US auto assembly plants rely heavily on cross-border supply chains — Ford Motor Co., for example, makes engines in Windsor that supply its factories in the US Midwest.
Lutnick and DonOLD are bad for business. Irony.
... Michigan is home to one of this year’s most competitive Senate races, with Republicans hoping to pluck away a longtime Democratic seat with the retirement of Senator Gary Peters. Democrat Mallory McMorrow, who is vying for her party’s nomination, is blaming Trump for the bridge standoff, while Mike Rogers, the presumptive Republican candidate, has backed the administration’s move to use the project as leverage against Canada....
DonOLD is bad for the GQP. Irony.
