Are the Panther people who sold off McCafferty still there? Why?
:lol:

Rushing yards: McCaffrey 89, Panthers 69
Panthers leading receiver: 36 yards.
McCaffrey: 53 yards.
:---P :-||

At one point in the 1st half a Panther cornerback had more receptions from Purdy (2) than any SF receiver. :D

Heisman winners could reasonably be expected to do well, but it's certainly not a guarantee of greatness for their teams or themselves. Names like Manziel, Griffin III, Tebow, Jameis Winston come to mind.

On a related issue, when do people stop referring to Shadeur as "5th round draft choice". Sure, he was, and maybe with his own behaviour and politics he deserved it, but as we've seen before draft position isn't that predictive of future success.

:headscratch:

The Buccaneers are currently 6-5 after losing the last 3 and 4 of the last 5, mathematically in the playoff hunt but not fooling anyone. Both teams are punching their tickets for a 1st round loss, whoever wins the Div.

Also, if anyone knows 1st round QBs . . . :P Caleb is winning games :clap: , but with a rating of 91.3 he's not yet looking like a superstar.

GO

1:00 PM FOX
@Lions (-3) > Packers

4:30 PM CBS/Paramount+
[holds nose] @Cowboys > KC (-3.5). GoBroncosGo!

8:20 PM NBC/Peacock
@Ravens (-7) > Bengals
If the @Kaarons(maybe) lose to the Bills (-3.5) they could stay in Baltimore's rearview mirror for the rest of the season.

:think: I'm rooting for all visitors, normally a risky thing to do.

Definitely room for improvement but certainly trending the right way under Johnson who is basically changing his game (for the better). Most of our failed QB's had a definitive early ceiling that was prettyobvious.

He's still having about five inexplicable misfires a game :headscratch: , but he's not throwing picks. :shhh:

He has been clutch in crunch time though. If he keeps accepting the coaching and is surrounded by talent (offensive line especially), the sky is the limit.

You sure about that? :P

It took me much of the 1st quarter to start rooting for Dallas. Opposing that uniform is literally in my pro-DC DNA.

Why are both Fox and CBS honoring John Madden today? Do they do this every Thanksgiving? He died 4 years ago in Dec.

Yeah Thanksgiving was big for Madden. I think he started the tradition of winners get turkey legs, brought the *turducken" to the tradition, and generally had fun.

NBC, too. Coordinated x 3, but nobody has explained why this year.

Networks recognize John Madden during Thanksgiving football games to honor his legacy as the unofficial "Mr. Thanksgiving," a tradition that began when he called 20 Thanksgiving games for CBS and Fox and created the "turkey leg" award for the game's star player. Following his death, the NFL and its broadcasting partners created the annual "John Madden Thanksgiving Celebration" to pay tribute to his contributions, which includes special logos, helmet decals, and tributes during the games.
Created Thanksgiving traditions: Madden is considered the "Mr. Thanksgiving" of the NFL because he was a fixture on the holiday for so many years. He started the tradition of handing out a turkey leg to the player who impressed him most during the game, and he also famously introduced the "turducken" on a Thanksgiving broadcast.
Became synonymous with the holiday: He called 20 Thanksgiving games for CBS and Fox, and his enthusiasm made the games a holiday staple for many viewers. Madden once famously said, "There's no place that I would rather be today on Thanksgiving than right here, right now, at a football game... There are just certain things that go together: the turkey, the family, the tradition, football".
Annual tribute: Since his passing in 2021, the NFL and its networks have established the "John Madden Thanksgiving Celebration" as an annual event. This includes tributes such as special logos on the field, patches on the players' jerseys, and video packages highlighting his career.
Continued traditions: Networks continue to honor Madden by continuing some of his traditions, like the turkey leg award for the player of the game, which is now given to the winner of the "John Madden Player of the Game" award.

Saw the last two minutes of the first two games only.

Guess I missed some good ones.
