To be fair, it's common for pols to propose and fight for provisions in bills they ultimately oppose overall. Idk if that's what happened with this Long Point Road grant.

I'm sure that Dems work to improve distasteful bills that they then vote against. I'm less sure that they brag about the result.

There's a reason they say a camel is just a horse designed by a committee. Substitute "Congress" for committee and you've got it. But I don't think that's what happened here. I think its just another slimy critter voting against a bill just because it's sponsored by the other party and then claiming credit for doing something for their district. Could happen in either party direction, but repugs don't tend to introduce/sponsor legislation that benefits a lot of people anyway.

But that was one thing among several that I always thought should be pushed back on a lot more.

Ok, thanks. I knew federal law prohibited it but just assumed that some states devote or allot money in addition to their ten percent share of the federal program. But even if it's a totally separate state program, the fact remains that no Democrats that I have seen have pushed back on this Medicaid to immigrants bullshit. I don't give a damn if some states provide this benefit but I do give a damn when lies get pushed as if they're truth. It's sort of like hearing Grace Slick singing the first line of that song....."when the truth is found...to be lies' except I don't get goosebumps when I hear Republicans telling this particular lie.
