Spoiler:
More along the lines of creeping ummm "embellishment" as the communication norm:

"NFL world reacts to horrible Patrick Mahomes news"

OMG, what happened to Patrick? Did he have an unreported injury that now requires surgery? Did he suffer 3rd degree burns from the grill in his high-priced 1587 restaurant? Is he retiring mid-season? Did the lovely Brittany renounce all things Trump?

No.
Spoiler:
Chiefs LT Wanya Morris suffered a season-ending knee injury Sunday night vs. the Texans". Affects, but not even about Mahomes. So the "horrible Patrick Mahomes news" is that he'll play behind a slightly less talented left tackle for the rest of their miserable season.
Third stringer?

His life may be in danger.

Sunday night they said that Mahomes was already playing behind 4 backups. Morris going down made it 5. Maybe the headline writer, if not AI, assumed we knew that. He was only sacked twice, but threw 3 INTs. He was the leading rusher (scrambler?) with 59 yards. The rest of the backfield only got 67.

Browns say Shedeur Sanders will be QB1 for rest of season

... Sanders, the 144th overall pick in this year's draft, started the previous three games. He is coming off the best game of his young career, accounting for 394 total yards and four touchdowns in the Browns' 31-29 home loss to the Tennessee Titans....

Sanders, a son of Pro Football Hall of Famer and Colorado football coach Deion Sanders, began his career as the No. 4 quarterback on the depth chart in Cleveland. The Browns, though, traded veterans Kenny Pickett and Joe Flacco, and fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel, who started six consecutive games, sustained a concussion against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 11, paving the way for Sanders to make his first start.
#4 to starter in less than one season. Good on him!
Sanders became the first Browns quarterback since 1995 to win his first NFL start when he helped lead Cleveland to a 24-10 road victory over the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 12. The Browns are 1-2 in games that Sanders has started.

This season, Sanders has completed 52.4% of his passes (54-of-103) for 769 passing yards with five touchdowns and three interceptions. He has also rushed for 50 yards and one touchdown on eight carries.
Not bad for a rookie. There's a steep learning curve.
... The Browns on Sunday used their eighth different starting offensive line combination this season and are set to use a ninth against the Chicago Bears in Week 15, with third-year player Luke Wypler taking the place of Pocic.
 I may have to stay neutral, Chicago Dog. It's Bears (-7), I would bet on the Bears to beat the spread.

Stay hungry, Shedeur.

QB Philip Rivers unretires to sign with Colts on practice squad

... The longtime star quarterback, who retired after the 2020 season -- his 17th in the NFL -- is rejoining the Indianapolis Colts on their practice squad amid an injury crisis that has left them with three sidelined quarterbacks.

... Rivers worked out for the Colts on Monday evening. The news comes one day after Rivers' 44th birthday, instantly making him the oldest active player in the NFL....
 Colin Kaepernick is 38.

Eagles QB Jalen Hurts first with 2 turnovers on same play

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts committed two turnovers on the same play as part of a five-turnover night that included a game-ending interception in Monday's 22-19 overtime loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.

Midway through the second quarter, Hurts threw an interception over the middle to Chargers defensive lineman Da'Shawn Hand, who fumbled during the return. Hurts recovered the ball but fumbled it back to the Chargers as he was hit.
Saw elsewhere that it was Hand's first INT in 7 years in the NFL. Good on him.
According to Elias Sports Bureau, Hurts is the first player to commit two turnovers on the same play dating to 1978, which is as far back as its research goes.

Hurts was intercepted on the next series, as well, marking the first time he was picked off on consecutive drives in his career.
Hurts' five giveaways tied the most by an Eagles player since play-by-play was first tracked in 1978, matching Donovan McNabb during his rookie year in 1999. Hurts also was the first Eagles QB with four interceptions in a game since Michael Vick in 2012 and the first NFL player with zero touchdowns and five turnovers in a game since Justin Fields in 2021.
 You just knew that a Bear would find his way into that paragraph somehow. :P
... The Eagles had averaged 15.5 points over their previous four games, and those offensive woes continued Monday, though Saquon Barkley did stir memories of his NFL Offensive Player of the Year campaign in 2024 with a 52-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter. That spark, along with seven sacks by Vic Fangio's defense, kept the game close.

... The Eagles have now dropped three straight to fall to 8-5. Though they remain in good position over the Dallas Cowboys (6-6-1) in the NFC East, there is urgency to stop the slide....
Will this be an epic choke by the Champs?

Yay split pea soup! We're making some today, too.
We're going up to Solvang for our Christmas trip this week https://www.travelworldmagazine.com/202 ... n-solvang/

In nearby Buellton (home of "Sideways" film), there was a place called "Pea Soup Anderson's" that claimed to have the best split pea soup in the world. It closed a couple of years ago after about 100 years in business, but the prospect of the Solvang trip made us think it's time for some split pea.

We get 'Hawks and Swifties today, but will either have to record or miss much of it. It would be fun to see if Philip Rivers can avoid being road kill.

31-0, yikes.

Great game. Pats up 21-0 and 24-7 in the 1st half. Bills come roaring back in the 2nd with 4 straight TD drives in a row. 35-31. Josh will be in the HoF, but Drake Maye ain't half bad for a UNC grad.

Now we'll all get to watch the 44 year old grandpa:

Philip Rivers to remain Colts' QB1 next Monday night vs. 49ers

His joy on throwing the TD vs Seattle was infectious.

The Colts are fighting to get a WC spot, the 49ers are fighting to keep theirs. Should be a game worth watching.
